@alzxoxo Thanks! Well, if you live in the greater Houston area, contact me with your wedding details, and we'll see if we can work something out. Cheers to you!
@reachalice Thank you so much--I'm glad that you enjoyed it. Unfortunately, I don't have a recording of this available at this time, but hope to record it and make it available on CD and digital music download format at some point in the future, but I doubt that will be before December. Best wishes to you!
I don't have this on a CD yet, but I plan to at some point in the future. If you are interested, subscribe to my YouTube channel, as I will send a message to all of my subscribers when I release any CDs or music for digital download.
Who knows, you might be. Wagner produced many children (including many who were not legitimate.) Might be interesting to research some day, if you or someone in your family can find the time. Best wishes!
Not a stupid question at all! Since he was from Germany, the German pronunciation is used: "vahg-ner". (In German pronunciation, the W has a V sound, and the V has a W sound.) Also, with German pronunciation, his first name is pronounced "rick-hard", rather than the Anglicised or Americanized "Richard". But, regardless of how you pronounce it, as Bill Shakespeare said, "A rose by any other name is still a rose......"
mendelssohn also wrote a wedding piece, but it's "the wedding march" which is rather used after the termination of the ceremony, this one is the entry ;D
The fanfare at the beginning is actually a separate piece of music, and sounds better at a more commanding (faster) tempo (to announce the arrival/entrance of the bride), whereas the Bridal March itself needs to be performed a bit more slowly and elegantly, especially if the bride is processing down the aisle slowly (as she should be if she wants to look graceful and dignified.)
Yes, I can see where the bride would not want to be scooting down the aisle at an accelerated pace. It still sounds awkward to me. I'm not an instrumentalist, but I do have a music degree... my suggestion would be one of two things:
1. Play the fanfare slower, and turn a couple of the 1/16th not triplets into quintuplets, or...
2. Ritard the fanfare more (I thought there was a slight rit.) in the last section, where you're playing the dominant (F). But your tone and timbre is great.
Because many people have asked me about my instruments and mouthpieces (and other trumpet questions) I have started a new Trumpet Blog that answers these questions. Please visit the Blog page on my website to follow links to my new Trumpet Blog postings. My website address is at the end of my videos and also on my YouTube Channel page.
I miss this show it was one of my fav shows wish it was still on were r u from I am from Guilford ct how old r u I am 16 and play viola and some piano and u r u really good do u have viola in there?
Thanks for the kind comments. I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed it (and other clips from the show.) I will be posting some new videos with trumpet and organ soon (and herald trumpet, piccolo trumpet, and flugelhorn and organ.) This was recorded in Houston, Texas--my home base/area. And yes, there is a viola in the group. (From left to right: flute, violin, herald trumpet, viola, and cello.)

They are called: The GREAT, the SWELL, and the FANTASTIC!

A church organ doesn't cut it, real march just always sounds best with trumpets.

Biomajor - the second one, a v sound
ravenbeyondtheforest 3 years ago
stupid question, but is his name pronounced WAG-ner, like a dog wags his tail, or VAG-ner, like vahg.

p.s. a v has an f sound in German i.e. volkswagen:)
muzykagirl 3 years ago
True! You get an "A" in German pronunciation.
HoustonTrumpet 3 years ago
Sorry if this is repeat, but I don't see my comment.
I never heard it pronounced "Folkswagen."

I thought that Mendelssohn wrote that piece, and Wagner wrote the most common recessional.
Phyrkrakr 3 years ago
No, these pieces are indeed labeled correctly. Please also see my video of the Mendelssohn Wedding March for clarification.

That is correct (at least, usually!)

Not bad, but why did the tempo slow down after the trumpet intro? Also, the ritard at the end was not together.
zither74 3 years ago
Here's the reason for the tempo changes:
The fanfare at the beginning is actually a separate piece of music, and sounds better at a more commanding (faster) tempo (to announce the arrival/entrance of the bride), whereas the Bridal March itself needs to be performed a bit more slowly and elegantly, especially if the bride is processing down the aisle slowly (as she should be if she wants to look graceful and dignified.)
