If we're discussing the US involvement in the war, then yes, the previous regime killed far more people in cold blood than the US ever did or will. The fact that the US got involved in Iraq is depressing to begin with, I doubt that there are many who could intelligently disagree. But they are not burning a representation of the Iraq War, they are burning a flag rich with history, history that has nothing to do with Iraq. (cont)

The US estimates that Hussein killed some 3 or 400,000 people, and most reliable counts of the death toll from the War in Iraq (ones not based solely on media reports like Iraq Body Count), especially now in 2011, exceed that by several hundred thousands.

@nocturnezero I've never seen any estimate from the iraq war over 400,000. I've seen antiwar sites, like antiwardotcom, estimating over 100,000. That is pretty consistent with other sources. But that's not how many the US killed, and there is no source that I know of that lists the causal factor as being solely due to US involvement, directly or indirectly. Most estimates I've seen, dating back to the 80's, for Saddam is around a half million people.
