  • In terms of soloing, I always seem to get messed up on the 3rd bar. What's going on? and is there some way to simplify it conceptually?

  • @fishqwer I believe he's just outlining the CMaj7 chord a little more with G, B (both under middle C) and then the B an octave above.

  • I know this was improvised and you didn't use a digital to transcribe it, but I would just love the sheet music for this. I'm just learning piano and have really only touched the surface with jazz, so improvising with only the chord notation is very new to me. Plus, you're version is just SO good, it's ridiculous. I might just have to watch you over and over and get all the fingerings if I have to.

  • Could you come to my house and play for me all night long?

  • truly at service to the music. a musician's most mature act ,thank you. PS piano sounds better than a baby grand .

  • just lovely.= )

  • SUPER!!!!! Thank you!

  • We also wish you long life -- so you can continue to educate and inspire the rest of us!

  • Great arrangemet on fine a instrument by a top player....hard to beat. In heaven we all play like this.....congratulations!

  • Great to see that you've gotten the kind of piano that your playing deserves. It and you sound beautifully professional. I don't know anyone who has offered more instruction in piano jazz and been such a great model. Wish you happiness and good health.

  • Wonderful. Thanks for posting

  • Like the sound of your new piano, hope you get plenty of miles from it between tunings! you cant beat the sound a real piano tuned at the right pitch.

  • Quite gorgeous.

    Thank you.

This effort may become my favourite tune to listen to when indulging in a sherry at 4 o'clock!

  • Doug, This sounds beautiful!!

  • Reminds me of Michel Petrucciani. Very nicely played.

  • Beautiful!

  • Absolutely brilliant Doug! I've been longing to hear you on a "real" piano - so much better than a digital. An absolute treat.......

  • Great as usual!

  • Just so you don't waste a lot of time researching microphones and preamps and all that...For a piano to be properly recorded it needs to be at least 12 feet away from walls on each side (like in a real studio or hall), otherwise you get frequencies bouncing back and canceling themselves out, creating weird phase issues and a 'hollow' sound.

  • Very lovely indeed! Congrats on your new baby. ;-) The lead sheet with annotations is a great teaching tool, thanks!

  • I think it sounds very good, Doug! Congrats on the new Kawai.

    Fri

  • That was awesome!

thanks alot man. enoyed it to the fullest

    5******

  • The sound is superb. I always thought Kawai is superior to Yamaha, what do you think?

Anyway, amazing solo. So touching and inspiring at the same time.

    Thank you Doug!

  • I agree that it's really nice to hear a real piano played really well like this !!!

  • And also ...MUCH... more enjoyable to listen to. I also liked the way u just show the chords and "only" the original melodi notes. Hope u continue like this. Regards.

  • beautiful :)

  • Nice Doug, a grand! I recommend finding one of those midi installations; they're not always so expensive as you'd think and work great.

  • Right ! you are a master, with the pianistaitaliano. Thank you

  • Superb sound Doug, is great to listen to your play again

  • superb job. Very good recording even if it's more difficult... and what a feeling !

    bravo!
