FCV (hydrogen fuel cells) technology would be more economically efficient. Otherwise where will we get so much lithium to equip all the vehicles (including trucks, buses etc) around the world?
@nikolaeve93 lithium in abundant. not every are will run on it some will run lead [especially when converting a car], there are batteries called zebra batteries, and if the patent right is not renewed by chevron, we will use NiMH. yes hydrogen is a good option in cars, but we need infrastructure, and we need to create the hydrogen, by extracting it from water, or burning it from natural gas. electric is the future that the us can turn to to reduce oil until hydrogen is possible
Are we seeing here a repetition of "Who Killed The Electric Car"? GM, be warned: you're not alone in this game anymore. If you're out, the Chinese will come in. Not that I'd like to drive a Chinese drag-car, But.. in short, GM, stop your snobbish attitude and join the revolution YOU STARTED!
Because I live in Israel and see what happens, my guess is that the oil industry is fighting and will fight till its dying breath against this taking place. In Israel, Better Place battery switching stations have been sprouting like mushrooms all around the state for the past two years. every minor town has at least one switching station. BUT NO CARS! Only about 100 cars have been supplied by Renault to the day, while 70,000 were ordered from them. Someone MUST be paying them to stall.
If GM wants, better place could be able to order 100,000 cars tomorrow. As the infrastructure is already on the ground in Israel but Renault drags its feet. It was funny driving yesterday in my oil guzzler to see Elyakim Junction BP switching station, right in the middle of nowhere, standing idle.. Only 100 cars so far. We have far more switch stations than cars on the road. 70,000 cars have already been ordered from Renault, but I don't see them! Probably some Oil company bought them out..
Technology has been created....& disappeared...that uses electric motor to generate a vacuum in front of a vehicle...which COMPLETELY negates the need for oil as fuel.....Gee, I wonder where it went???
If BIG OIL kept it's nose out this ,it could be maybe less than 5 years to convert over to eletric cars and get them really intrigrated into America. But NO, It Will be years and years as whats his face said (no ,I do not watch this show.) Because Everyone wants turn a blind eye 'Cause BIG OIL is playing Mofia Monopoly.
Nano Tech batteries and under ground wireless electricity charging will make electric cars a dodle and all this laughable. It's all just a case of when it will be viable.
