  • high octane guitar synthesiser pop with a divit of melancholy and an understanding of the sad and simple struggle of the young working classes, pulp did it better than anyone. a contemporay classic that has stood the test of tuture time.

  • goog

  • 0:24 song starts

  • No shit Sherlock.

  • This song is still so much better than the crap I'm hearing in the blatant corporate constipation of music in North America. It has something to say and its catchy as hell.

  • Why wasn't this and Like A Friend on the Hits album?

  • this is such

    a coolish song

  • good times

  • cooly!!!

  • best british song of the last twenty years

  • It's goooood, it's goood!

  • Jarvis Vs Jarvis

    AWESOME! =D

  • Pulp...basicaly sum up my life coming from the stand point of being a Brit. I don't know about the rest of the world, but I believe that everyone can find something that has happened to them in thier lives that relates to at least one Pulp song.

They formulated our teenage years into songs..

    Thanks Pulp.

  • I wish there would have been American bands as good as this to sum up my teenage years!

  • Nirvana?

  • yeah, Nirvana was definitely a great band but it seems like Britain produces a larger number of really good bands, more so than America. although lately music has been pretty good everywhere.

  • this & razzmatazz are my favourite Pulp songs.

  • i love pulps lyrics, especially this one

  • I fucking love this video, song and pulp

  • the lead singer kinda sounds like the guy from Franz Ferdinand...sweet song though

  • Or, rather, "the guy from Franz Ferdinand" sounds like the lead singer of Pulp.

  • Good shout that buddie.

  • Plus, Franz Ferdinand made a cover of this song.

  • best band in the world!!

    jarvis = GENIUS!!

  • SO amazing. Love this band so much- why wasn't their profile higher? They're so good!

  • I agree, the reason that Pulp and Suede were both so underrated was because of the ongoing and very public feud between the Gallaghers and Damon Albarn

  • genius genius genius

  • What a song, this should have been so much bigger than it was. A call to arms for everyone who didn't do well on dancefloors or in nightclubs and is fed up of that being the be all and end all. Plus some great shapes thrown by Steve!

  • classic pulp, with awesome lyrice

"Whats the point of beign rich, if you can't think what to do with it, cos your so bleeding thick"

    Beckhams, anyone?

Javis is nmarried by the way, so that's fcuked all the homophobes and the thick bastrads that can't tell the diffrence between a little camp and homosexuality.

  • To swelter7: Although he was in a gay relationship for a year according to magazines in 1994 which I don't recall him ever denying. But then Jarvis is comfortable enough in his sexuality to not care what the media thinks. He's probably bisexual.

  • He's bisexual ??? Really ??

  • jarvis cocker is a genius

  • Whats the point of being rich if you don't know what to do with it.

  • Jarvis Cocker has to be the best lyricist ever

  • we learned too much at school now we cant help to see.. that the future that we've got mapped out is nothing much to shout about uh uh oh!

  • I LOVE PULP! But for the record, Jarvis' solo album is crazy too!

  • i remember this song so well. was a crazy fan of pulp at time. i collected all the singles - and this one came out as a double realise with Sorted For es and whizz - and the one of the singles packaging showed you how to make a little tablet wallet - which i made, badly!!!! Great song though!

  • Ah, the first Pulp song I ever heard back in 95 and liked it on the spot! Liked 'em ever since! I was weird really, I came from a estate full of the tracksuit wearing idiots that are in the vid that started the fights, but I listend to Pulp and Oasis ect. And yes, I used to get shit for liking them!

  • The guy is a living genius who should be more taken note of and critically acclaimed because hes better than most artists today!

  • one of the best songs form different class

theres a guy at about 1:00 dancing that looks an awful lot like bob fossil from the mighty boosh

  • You're so right! Bob Fossil would love it there.

I love Jarvis' message in this song, he's totally siding with awkward people, i.e. most of my friends back in high school.

Poor Jarvis is being bullied by himself!

  • sounds alot like bowie

  • The annoying guy with the moustache is Jarvis Cocker you dumbass.

  • Top video. The times I have wanted to take a tommy gun to ignorant, f*cked up idiots. Great tune

  • Haha. I love that he pretends to shoot them! The next time somebody picks on me, I'm using that method to cure my angst.

  • That's Jarvis!

  • This is my favorite song from the diffrent class album.

I just reacently got into jarvis and he is one heck of a performer and the lyrics of many of his songs are so true.

This one especialy it pictures a young teens life perfectly,

    <3 Jarvis' Glasses rock xD

  • rock and roll meets showtunes

  • Is that Jarvis introducing them at the beginning?

  • yep

  • This Is Hardcore is better.

  • help the aged, absolute class.

  • pulp is to die for.

  • pulp is kinda kool

    i say better dan kool

  • yeah jervis estilo no se puede imitar

  • ITS GOOODDDD ITS GOOODDD!

  • lool im 15 and thanks to my dad these are the best band in my eyes and tht diff class tape is just pure legendary

  • 'Thanks to your dad' yes. PLEASE let us keep a vague feeling of still being fairly young.

    *sigh*

    =)

  • Diff class is one of the best albums of the last 25 years!

  • lol the guy with the moustache introducing is jarvis himself

  • Really?

Oh that Jarvis is a man of many faces =p

  • look the chin

  • did you see franz ferdinand's version? Equally superb. WHOA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dont talk like a div franz ferdinand are shit

  • can anyone figure out what it says on the toilet at the end? i cant make it out properly lol :)

  • by the way i think that franz's version of this is not bad its acoustic (at least the one i have heard)its a nice twist to the song.plus it gives this song a new opportunity for more people to listen to it and trace back to where its from which is pulp.

  • i'm just getting into jarvis and pulp since i first listened to air's new album.i really like how jarvis'songs are written. jarvis is a true genius! i really admire the guy from all the songs i have heard of him there all well written. and like others it would be so great to see pulp together. i never knew of them the first time around but it would be amazing to see them tour around here in san francisco or atleast a tour with him, air, and charllote gainsbourg now that would be amazing!

  • This song always reminds me of the book The Chrysalids, every time I hear it. Great song.

  • one of the greatest bands to ever grace this world and dont let anyone ever put you down jarvis, how i wish you and morrisey would work on something together, that would be truly awesome

  • work on "something"...like a porn.

  • *vomits*

  • Yes yes yes!! Mozzer and Jarvis would be truly a work of art!

  • they both worked on nancy sinatra's latest album. she does "don't let him waste your time" which jarvis later recorded and put on his latest album as well

  • Fair enough you dont like Pulp, but how can anyone say they were bad? look at all the talent they undebatably had. How charasmatic Cocker is for example.

  • pulp are the best band this side of 1990

  • nice grammar dickwad

  • yes cunt grammar is so important is it fuck if you get the point that's all that matters

  • You are quite correct my illiterate chum that grammar is very important or we may end up like you. If you are going to do sarcasm please do it well not like a child.

  • wheres it ever got you? its got you on here wasting your time putting people you look down on right but at least the musics good

see people like me don't give a fuck and never will

  • Please do not EVER accuse me of looking down at people.

I just like it when people write something to me that they put the same effort into it that I do.

  • You best go somewhere else like toff tube or something where all the posh people are being boreing.

(its not just you i do this to i do it all the time it drives up views to my page lol)

Dont take anything to seriously on the net too many people are doing, then killing themselves over it.

And thats not good is it?

    Chin up!

  • dont be stupid fool, Franz Ferdinand are shite ! WHAT A FUCKING LIBERTY

  • fucking what!

they shittier than fucking the feeling mixed with the kooks and fratellis on top fucking kasabian while them wankers oasis wank off in there faces

    not the faces there good

  • this comment was aimed at some knob saying Franz Ferdinand were better than pulp

  • i love pulp this is hardcore was not as good and masters of the universe album was not good but different class was the db's and babies is a hell of a tune

  • i love franz ferdinand, but... no. their cover isn't better.

  • 2.17 is that Lee Whitlock?

  • Their best song, for sure

  • No3 band in the 90s

    but sttill brilliant

  • assume you have been listening to a bit too much shitty radio 1

ocean colour scene would be 2nd and probably lightning seeds 3rd

  • Such a shame that they always play 'Common People' or Disco 2000' and never this.

  • This is one of the best song of Pulp, and from the best album!

  • ...."RAISED OHNN A DI-ET OF BROKE-AHN BIISSSS-KIITZ!!"...go on!!

  • what do they draw on that kids face?

  • One of the best bands of the 90's and I was lucky enough to be on the dancefloor in this video albeit very briefly.Took so many bloody takes but was a great night and got to talk to them at the end.

  • a good music with great people

  • just comment about the track, dont get political about it,

  • Pure Genius, fantastic song, the mid 90's were great!, Suede, Pulp, Manics, Supergrass and loads more. Pulp and Jarvis in particular were an amazing band (and singer) to grow up listening to!

  • was the girl at the beginning zammos chick in grange hill in the 80s

  • Yeah she was mate, i have just noticed too, Jackie wright (think she was called). thanks god i'm not the only anorak on here

  • you retards calling jarvis gay are a complete joke... you prove what we always knew all along... british humour beats all... the day anyone in your country has the balls to stand up and make the statement jarvis does is the day you can shout about his sexuality... you fools don't even listen.. you look at how he looks and decide..... damn what we would decide if we did that about the american president???? dumb as fukk i'd say.....

  • Gay, what the fuck are you on about. Pulp are arguably the best band of the 90's witch was the best time for music and fuckin english, any janks reading this your musics shite. Chow!

  • Well I hope he isn't gay, because if he is, that would mean that I'm attracted by gays. Which isn't very good, because they are gays and so, they are not attracted by me ... :) Oh no. I don't think he is. ;)

  • Isnt that techno bit at the start, under the talking, from Eze and Wizz?

  • Yep

  • Pulp are one of the best bands ever - and the very best of the 90's.

Also what does it matter if he was gay (he's not though) it doesn't make any difference at all.

  • is JohnLennon100 a real person? if you are, why are you so concerned about the sexuality of other people? reading your comments to others, i feared that you might bust a blood vessel.

and this is the correct spelling of hermaphrodite.....

    good luck, JohnLennon100

  • so what's everyone goin' on about? as far as Brett Anderson prancing about in his leathers...remember cousin, we gave y'all the model via Iggy Pop, Jim Morrison and the New York Dolls. plus forgive us if some of my countrymen are homophobic and/or fashion challanged. i love pulp and suede; they're far better than 90% of the grunge crap we tossed your way.......er, sorry about that.

  • Jarvis is a one-off - he probably would not be offended to be labelled "gay", even though he patently is not gay. He's different, a bit of a mis-shape. But a bloody good singer & songwriter with what was a fantastic band nonethelss.

  • Too bad this wasn't included on the Greatest Hits

  • pulp will never get old..i like to think of myself as a 90s kid even though i sorta msised the first half being a baby n all... but yeah and i love jarvis..best brit pop there ever was...oasis and blur eat your heart out

  • brings back memorys of being down the youth centre on a saturday night :)

  • I am so proud to be British right now after reading that kind of crap. I feel sorry for you.People who usually go on about this stuff the most are usually the biggest homos among us.Forgive the ignorant language, but it seems like its the only wording some would probably understand here. I love Pulp, they rock, and that goes for Suede too. I'm sure most of you American lot would have a heart attack at the sight of Brett Anderson prancing around in his leather. Jesus Christ.

  • God, when you read some of the comments on here, its a joke. Thank god for the Jarvis Cockers of this world.

    The best 'us vs them'...

  • What is written on the toilet seat cover? Was it found that way, or just 'created' for the video?

  • It's a famous WW2-era speech of Churchill's. The 'we shall fight them on the beaches' one.

  • Fantastic one of the best songs ever. ain't no denying.

  • tis horrible how you get those aweful magazines like heat how when a celeberty come 'out of the closet' it's headline include shock, horor tactics. it's shameful.

  • yeah man i agree whats more manly and tough than wrestling a half naked man to the ground in a sweaty frenzy

  • *giggles* We American's like to hide our homo-erotic tendencies under a bucket of white trash. ;)

  • lol

  • You are white trash. I hate white trash. I am ashamed to be American.

  • And that's exactly why us Brits laugh our fucking arses off at you pathetic rednecked idiots across the pond. Your collective lack of intellect never fails to astound me. Please, go on. You're only making yourself look more stupid.

  • he aint gay hes got a wife and kid u diks and live in paris- thats the only gay thing about him lol

  • What's the name of that electronic beat at the beginning?

  • It's another Pulp tune called Sorted for Es & Wizz

  • 'What's the name of that electronic beat at the beginning?'

It's another Pulp tune called Sorted for Es & Wizz

  • I wish I could use my hands like Jarvis.

  • pulp r still my fave band this tune is about being diffrent "thats our minds " its about people using there heads ,and the society we live in is fall of chavs and why cant the rest of us do what we want 2 do ,wear what we want 2 wear without attitude its not about being gay straight black or white

  • You've just said it!! They're not openly GAY, maybe they are secretively GAY, but they are GAY!! .. The truth is out there, don't be so naive! Again, there's nothing wrong in being gay.

  • They are Mods you twat not gay. It's about their music not their sexuality. You are a tool and clearly not a pulp fan so piss off!!!

  • I say whatever I want to say you ignorant beast! Besides, it was just a comment and you still don't get that I have nothing against being gay or not gay. Read before making any statement! and again, I SAY WHATEVER I WANT TO SAY ...

  • we never sed that you were against gays, just the way you acusethem of being gay or bisexual when you quite clearly havent done your research dickhead

  • but he's not gay, he's married and has a son :@ so get your fucking facts right mayte before you jump to your distorted conclusions :@

  • Some people live in the world of the False and of the Manipulated ... that's why politicians have total control of you, because you believe everything anybody tell you. Reproduction of organisms that are both male and female exists (hemafrodites). They are sexually speaking more instense than anybody/anything else.

  • Besides, I don't believe in such a thing as asexual. Everything that has life in this planet is sexual, plants, animals and humans. To deny sexuality is not only a big lie but a death statement toward life as well. So, my friend, don't be soo naive !
