the only thing i was disappointed about with this movie is they didn't get into a chase or anything like that, other than that, i love this movie, paul le mat was great in this and american graffiti. love the ELP song too, great for cruising main in my 80 firebird
Saw this at the Van Nuys Drive in when it came out. It was filmed in the valley and did a good job of capturing the "Cruising" on Van Nuys Blvd. It was a sweet Camaro, but they were so many racers down there back then with awesome cars. They'd hang out at Bob's Jr and Jack in the Box or back of the B of A. Negotiating bets and off we'd go to some quiet straightaway and race. Good times, good times.
This scene is bad ass!! I love it. This movie got me into first gen Camaros. Today, I have a 1969 Camaro Z/28 with its original iconic black California license plates....you can't get any better than that.
Poor Van Nuys Blvd....looks nothing like that now. Somebody should make a documentary about the old days with original film clips. Like Stacey did, with Dog Town and Z boys.
that was VanNuys blvd. here in so.cal. I remember crusing there every wed. night back in the day......until all the mexican gangs and drug dealers ruined it and the cops shut it down.
They seemed to have ruined alot more than Van Nuys Blvd! The 70's were the best of times! Back then we knew how to have fun! Now the 3rd world has come and invaded us!!! I'm a native Californian, been here all of my life!! I'm sick of all the changes here!!
I hear ya...and here's the sad part we welcome these cockroaches. they come here and use all the resources we have for us TAX PAYING citizens. not to mention they completly drag down the quality of life. I just got my $26,0000 suv back from the shop that some unlicenced, uninsured, unemployed, illegal wrecked with his $500 piece of shit car. dont get me started, at least we have the memories. thanks for posting, great movie/camaro.
I agree, but cruising is now back to Van Nuys Blvd. 2nd Wednesday of every month 8 pm-10pm It's getting bigger every month. Bring anything on wheels. It will never be like the 70's but it's getting to be lots of fun. Go to the Rydell Chevrolet parking lot and you'll see what I mean.
Gotta love the toggle-switch trick at the end. Serious street cars in the 70's had a -toggle-switch to shut off the rear tights when out-running the cops. Fact.

I tracked the '68 Z down to Sylmar California, back in the mid 80's.
Found a guy who knew the owner. Both the Ford truck (Moxy's) and
Bobby's Camaro were built and owned by the same guy in Sylmar.
Left my number with the business owner, (a video rental store) but
never got that call. Not sure if the one at that car show is the original.
Came close though...and did buy a 68 Z28 after the movie came out.
Always wanted the real deal though...Such is life, eh? Good times.
