  • I'm back at the Underground on Union Square in NYC, wow we danced!

  • wow...i'm transformed back to high school just listening to this and the video is amazingly 80s.

    1981 nyc - great memories!

  • música la de antes........ no la porqueria que abunda ahora llamada mierdaton.

  • ME ENCANTA.......ME DA ALEGRIA!!

  • real classic music,Cheryl knew how to do just that in this video. Again thanks for the memories.

  • I’m gonna call you on the telephone

    Gonna tells somebody’s there’s a party goin’ on...♫...♫..

  • I am fascinated by the incredible energy, good feelings and groove in this video.

  • Big Girl Cheryl! She could move that boom, boom well. Loved her back then!

  • love her personality and bright smile that lights up the room!!

  • The 49ers club, K-Town west germany..... oh yea!!!!!!!

  • Ms. Lynn is a awesome vocalist, and sound even better live. If that at all possible. I caught a show with her roughly 5 to 6 yrs ago and was completely blown away. She performed at Cafe Wha, in New York city. Clearly she's wonderful on wax, but catch her live you won't regret it. She can hold her own against any vocalist, past or present.

  • fantastic!

  • That's a big fine woman who can shake it like ain't nothing to it!!!!

  • @nauaj13 You got That right!!

  • @musiclover77able Yes, I noticed. They are hot too, but that blond woman is hot ta def!!! If you are suggesting that I dont love my ebony queens, you are mistaken. I

  • I love the guy with the Cowboy hat! Great song!

  • @Myrolex yup

  • Cheryl Lynn was an incredible force of nature and she deserved a much, MUCH better video than this one with some jaded morons in the background holding martinis and cigarettes. She had too much talent and Hollywood just didn't know what to do with her. What a voice, what a woman.

  • @tinagetmetheaxe That's Right!!

  • Comment removed

  • That bass line is SICK

  • this song takes me back to 1981 in Visalia Ca the central valley. a nite club called - Faces.Good place to party, Great Dance Floor, and Good looking central valley women. Shake It UP

  • I bet you 20 yrs from today, you can still rock this at a party. Classic.

  • @Dadoo1123 You can bet your old age pension on that one!! LOL

  • @Dadoo1123 I threw a house party halloween of 2009, and I spun this and straight up shut it down. People left and right were asking were I got this song from and who sung it. I had to go Biggie Smalls on them...If you don't know now you know.

  • Old Skool party song!

  • Where's a time machine when you need one? Those were the good ole days

  • @gemini19662010 If i had one, i wud go strait back to thta era!!

  • Those were the days, so much love going around with everyone. Wish we could all go back to that time again.

  • Come to think of it ,I had friends that I nevr aw in the day time. They could have been vampires. We had a club in eastlake Ohio that my crew and I would hook up every friday and /or saturday night. There were about 15 to 20 of us .black white gay straight, the oldest was 65 the youngest 23. After a while we all started wearing black due in part to how much we'ed sweat. We had so much fun people we didn't know wanted to join us.Hell where the time machine?

  • It´s a great song... Uff that time´s, sniffffff.. jajaja Excelent song and best Cheryl Lynn.

  • I dont think gary is in this video..because the lil guy @ 2:08-12 doesnt look like him and is not his height..gary was much shorter.

  • I was 6 yrs old when this came out and I still remember this jam. Thank you so much for posting. I love the 80s sooo much!

  • all you tarrant student back in the days do you remember this we were all shake it in 1981, this was a hit, o god i love it. just think back about our crazy day.

  • The blonde chick behind Cherly dancing with the dude in the cowboy hat is a (was) sexy lady. I love the way she moves. I sure would have liked to danced with you back then even though I was only 14.

  • Shake it up shake it up getdown cheryl!

  • when i heard cheryl lynn.. i new right then and there she was the one...now i see encore.. everywhere...your love deserve an encore...love it.. burger king have it your way...bbw..

  • So i go from this....to this

  • Cheryl Jammed!!!! Real singing and even dancing. No fake imagery here.

Sorry it may seem like "whateveryouwannacallit" but women like Cheryl Lynn and Martha Walsh and other who sang like this were put on the back shelf for the slimmer half talent singers they promoted more. Beyonce, Gaga, and the rest are just all "look at me im almost naked" to distract that their songs suck and singing is mediocre.

  • @JEDI7ACEN So true!

  • Cheryl Lynn was/is a phenomenal talent. Ain't nuthing like a BBBW gettin down!!! And this song? Chile, it is full of the most delicious double entendres one can imagine! I wanna dance for my man to this song....

  • Boy I miss people who can really sang. It's said what the music industry has done to real singers.

  • Gotta love Cheryl babe! Now I'll get down with anytime but I won't attempt to bump with her lol. Love it how most of thiz 27-40yr ppl can't even get down. I mean come on the Disco era only ended 2yrz ago :P Did anyone notice Junior gescombe, cowboy curtis, Gary coleman and blondie at the party :D

  • @FunkMasterRio where was gary?

  • @sexcbull Ya kan c him @ 2:08 - 2:12 kinda squeezed between cowboy & Cheryl. Ya Also you probably didn't notice zat weirdo curtis clicked at Cheryl at 2:12. which is why she snaped her head back and not kuz shez gettin' down.

  • nice song

  • the great Cheryl Lynn............timeless

  • This is such a GREAT SONG . . . and she's got a fantastic, soulful voice. I remember

dancing to this a the clubs.

It's the first time I'e ever seen a video or picture of her . . . whoever put this on YouTube . . . will be blessed 100 times 100.

  • Man this was smokin at the clubs! I wanna go back.

  • for a large woman, she sure could move around !

  • Bergen Beach, Brooklyn

  • Fab! Thankyou :)

  • Do not understand why no one has this video in good condition If you have it in optimal resolution,

the exchange with anyone who is on my channel

IF ONLY Sharp WELL TV FORMAT

  • Can someone shout, "Now this is REAL music!"?

  • God, I was ten years old in 1981. I remember hearing this song all over. In the car, at the cookout, the block party, or at home during a Friday-night Fish-fry.

@ 2009Denisem: This was also a time when all types of music (in New York) was played on one station. Nowadays, most if not all radio stations follow a set format. Oh well.

  • Can never sit still to this one..upbeat and positive! Generations coming on up in my family , the granddies get exposed to this- we have a disco dance night! they have to wear their boas! hehehehe

  • Cheryl Lynn could get it...repeatedly, and with great vigor...PEACE.

  • hell i was 8yrs old when this came out, and i still remember this!!!!

  • My girlfriend and I would hit the club every Thursday and Saturday...and ALL holidays...changed my license just to be able to dance, dance, dance all night long :)

Hit discos at 16! What great times we had!

  • Love this wonderful song of all time

  • That has to be Dana Plato in the checkered shirt. Knowing that this is a Hollywood nightclub....it wouldn't surprise what went on in there at those times. This is usually one of the negative things to bring kids into nightclubs at such a young age because they get use to it. Drew Barrymore, anyone?

  • So fun

  • Classic... Miss these days... when all you did was go out and dance! and couldn't wait for the weekend to party.then head on over to after hours.. hmmm... those were the days indeed! Great memories..Everyone got along no matter what race or color we all looked out for one another and had lots and lots of fun.. Good Times! Wish we can turn back the hands of time...Will always cherish the memories.

Thank you for posting a phenomenal classic!

  • @2009Denisem

Hi you put a smile on my face with your comment, your so right I am always saying the same thing.

    Good Times

    Frankie :-)

  • @himangol Hi Frankie..Thanx.. The best times ever!!!! Now if only we had a time machine!

  • @2009Denisem I do as well. One of the best times in my life.

  • @fred5399 How I wish there was a time machine...**sighs** Those were the greatest times for sure my friend! Peace & love Oohh the memories..Denise

  • @2009Denisem You are right Denise I wish there was a Time Machine to go back to the 70's and 80's.When I talk about the music of those times to younger people they joke oh I am getting old.I totally disagree the music was really quality but kinda happy. It's got nothing to do with age.It was the golden age of music, the fruits of the great gospel songs of the 30's and 40's

  • @inspirewisdom I was blessed to have been born in the 50's to appreciate the music of the 60's 70's & 80's..OLD! Never.. This music makes us feel just as good now as it did back in the day! They certainly were the GOLDEN ERA'S and there will never ever be music like this today! Amen! Peace & Love my friend! Denise

  • @2009Denisem yes mam, those were the best times....damn it sucks gettin old

  • @celticlarry Aww no we are not getting old.. we are getting better...This music keeps us young.. keep dancing my friend! The best of times!!!

    Peace!!! :-)

  • @2009Denisem Sounds like some fun times!!! Wish it could still be this way!! Happy Holidays!!

  • @MissSLF2U The best of times my friend!!! Happy Holidays to you and yours!

    Peace N Love!

  • @2009Denisem We definitely lived during the same era bro..nice music, friends, girls, clothes...you name it...and we had the time of our life those good old 80s!! I dream of opening a stricly 80s club one of these fine days. Best do it before we too old to party...LOL

  • @turnex1 The best of the best of times my friend....Please open the club.. Good Luck.....It would be like taking a trip back in time. Ahh the good old days.. can't beat 'em...!!!...Love it..!! Have a great weekend, Peace...

  • wow I see 4 familiar face's come on now.

  • Hey Groovechaser she has a little thing going@F.B. check out

  • This is my absolute favorite style of dance music. Bring this style back, PLEASE! Cheryl is bringing it!

Plus, that blond chick is HOTTTT!!!!

  • yeah,she was pretty hot -especially @ 4:03 !!! now don't kill me black girls...haha

  • @mysterymediacorp I love women of all colors. But you didn't see many black women in this video other than Cheryl (which recently lost some weight but looks great here) and the one in the white and black stripe dress. She is hot too. But the one that caught my eye the first time was the one with the blond bobb. She has an energy and works it proper in this video. What they call an "it" girl. But I do love my ebony queens.

  • Missing the old days.

  • Ray Parker Jr. was on fire in those days. And the acts he worked with were incredible. Great time for music and the people that enjoy it.

  • 私にとって思い出の曲。シェリル リンってこんな人だったのね~。確かにこのベースラインは最高!

  • 2:21 Brothers Johnson.

  • What ain't country I ever heard of. Do they speak English in "what"? 3:31

  • El Debarge at 1:25

    Borat at 1:35

A cross between Darryl Hall and Ryu from Street Fighter on the top right at 1:37

    Julianne Moore at 2:38

and sandrajeantaylor is right.... that IS Samuel L Jackson at 3:31

Fuck that party's bumpin'. Celebrities and all.

  • @halfasemitone - How the hell did they get so many celebs on such a low budget??

  • Dude, Will I Am from X-Men Origins on the right at 1:27

  • 0:14 is that Don Johnson from Miami Vice?

  • Listen to the whistle 2:53 on top of the piano or above it. Amazing whistle register Cheryl Lynn!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anybody spot Gary Coleman jammng near the end of the video....he is in the purple. I noticed Cheryl had to look twice...I guess she didn't know there were two celebs in her video.

  • Dana Plato was there as well. Wonder if Todd Bridges is running around the video anywhere.

  • Todd bridges was there..... he was doing rails with Will I Am.

  • HOT JAM!

  • Still, DAMN HOT!!!!

  • "I can't wait until the sun goes down...I'm getting ready!..". Long live the good times!

  • @mogreld what u just said i love u and u right let the sun goes down ready for the good times

  • This song is pure magic. Did anybody else peep Dana Plato in the background? She had the black and white shirt on.

  • there's a guy in the video @3:31 that looks like a young samuel l jackson

  • i wouldnt be surprised if it was he probably did party in his younger years. i mean comon it looks like he didnt give a shit cause he knew was nobody stoppin him and he knew it lol.

  • I absolutely love Cheryl Lynn! Unlike some I'm partial to the big girls especially when they have a wealth of talent. When she gets a hold of the right song she's awesome, and certainly this was one of those songs!! Very good music, miss those days.

  • this video has it's share of squares with layered cuts and flares, bad mustaches, etc. I used to walk in on clubs like this dance my ass off and quickly exit.

  • that new wave looking blonde sure can boogie.

  • This song and video was release June

1981. One of my favorite years of the 80's.

  • the best music forever

  • Go Cheryl! Mkes me wanna get up and dane the night away!

  • The 70s? This is from 1981.

  • MIGHT HAVE EVEN BEEN FROM EARLY 1982

  • this joint is da bomb~ Shake it Cheryl....cant sit still when I heard this

  • Memories of the parties in the Bay Area.

  • Well considering it is from the 70's what did you expect a Spielberg production? In the 70's early 80's vids were not marketing tools. Besides Cheryl Lynn's voice needs no video.

  • this video is prob one of the worst ever made! cost around £20 to make!! top tune though

  • I remember this back in MT Vernon, NY. I was real young....

  • I love, love, love this song! Not to mention that I love love love the video too! :0) Everytime I hear this song I want to start shakin' it. It really is a good dance track, one of the best!

  • this song is a party starter!

    So wicked!

  • The beat is off the chain

  • Produced by ray parker jr.

  • I didn't know that !!! It's one of my favorite tracks of all time. Hear that baseline. It gives me goosebumps !!!
