The second my husband became a boilermaker our quality of life has been so much better. I live and work in Texas which is a right to work state. It is awful. I am college educated and work for a fortune 500 in a year it's making historic profit. Due to right to work laws the company decided it was paying the employees too much at $26.00 per hour and forced us (or we would be fired) to have our pay lowered to $13 per hour. We have no benefits, sick time, vacation, and are routinely forced to work on our 6 & 7 day with no OT. We are routinely mistreated.
Drive down wages also drives down prices on goods. The higher the price to produce a service, the higher the service has to become to make up. I live and happily work in a right to work state, and we're doing just fine here, thank you very much. I feel sorry for those states that are shackled to union thugs, that have to give up huge chunks of their paychecks to fund politics they disagree with, or to support lazy/ineffective workers. Or just to pay for protests in other states.
@Metool2 I'm glad you're happy with $8.00 an hour and shopping all day at Wal-Mart, but the rest of the country may want more out of life and their hard work. Also, you're high if you think driving down wages drives down profits. Unfortunately, your beloved capitalism doesn't work that way. Wages drop, prices don't, and profit margins increase for your fat-cat buddies at the top.
@dawilli1 Well I can't help that your greedy and spoiled and are horrified at wearing/eating anything that isn't 'name brand'. I can see why you're likely a liberal, as you can't understand simple economics that business leaders grasp, which is likely why you support stealing money rather than earning it honestly. Theres a reason the cost of living is much cheaper here in the south than in those big corrupt union states where they drive up costs.
