The movie was great, but the book is completely different. The film was 'based' on the novel. It was paul verhoven's interpretation. In the book the Mobile Infantry wear powered space suits and can drop down from orbit in one man pods. The training is much more detailed, including training in the Australian outback. The book is still worth reading. Its very good, not quite PC these days, but thats why its so good.
