  • darn, I like all the fancy scmancy moves it can do. Oh, what's that? It can mix sound too? Ohhhhh, Can it do windows? (not MS) How about vacuum and dust the room too. Wow, I'll bet it is self-cleaning too.

  • @jpnoll Yes. It also has a great sense of humour and gives great head!?

  • i see a dbx 165? and pultech style comps'

  • @Downbeat1984 You have a good eye, we have 4 of them and the Pultecs are actually Tube Tech EQs and the stereo compressor is also Tube Tech (Denmark)

  • Those are some large compressors in the background!! :)

  • 0:40 holy crap that's fast.

  • That would be worse than having Windows Solitair. I would not get any work done. "Hey, y'all watch this..."

  • это кому на столько делать нехер???

  • fucking A

  • You win the contest.

  • P+G faders?

  • @Audiowithalex Yes they are Alex, that reminds me, their 5 year lube is now needing to be done. Thanks for your comment.

  • @geoffmallan nice pultec's btw!

  • very quiet drive, are these powered by PWM?

  • that can,t be good for it!

  • @glenmann62 Well, it was a built in diagnostics test in flying faders 1. We are now on FFII and they've left out this "athletic" set of moves. So maybe it was too violent?

  • Why would you do this for fun, it must be so hard on the motors and the faders, I know the first time we all get on a motorized fader board all we want to do is make pretty patterns but really- is that all you think of to do with a Neve?

  • @readerwriter Thanks for your comment. Trust me we have much more use for the Neve than this silly little test. It was just a bit of fun.

    Happy New Year!!!

  • those faders are fast!!!

  • check out the back the compressor knobs move by themselves

  • what is the point of this???

is actually there for a reason or just for show?

on such digital mixer as the LS9 for example it can be used to switch between front of house and monitor mix but not with any of these fancy waves or anything

can anyone tell me a purpose or is it just for show?

  • @a2dds Automation is an important part of recording, almost every song uses it, thats why motorized faders exists, tests like this are to ensure each fader is working.

  • Comment removed

  • @maryjaysmoke Hate away Mary. The whole diagnostics and calibration test was designed by the builders of the automation system. It's meant to do that.

  • i always thought it would be cool to make an equalizer out of them with just like blank track automation that acuually goes along to a song.

  • :lol

  • great way to fuck up the faders

  • @guitarheroa7x lmao haha I was thinking the same.

  • @guitarheroa7x How? That's the built-in test, you moron.

  • beautiful!

  • RSI :)

  • hard on ,,, j/k

  • Yeah, we had the same problem a couple of months back, but we've now upgraded to Flying Faders 2. Which runs on a "modern" computer. You don't get much for $10k!

  • I remember when our Martin Sound Computer that controlled the Flying Faders broke down. It took us like 3 days to find a replacement for the ibm computer. So freaking old....lol

  • its a snake XD

  • To me, that's exactly the purpose when it comes to a >100k$ desk!

    ;)

  • Exactly! How else do audiotechs relax? Beats pacman anyday

  • Muy Bueno!

  • what is the name of the automation system ?

  • ehm???? weirdly enough it's "Flying Faders" by Martin Sound

  • i think i noticed that from the video daa !! that they are moving , i meant for the desk , like the uptown automation systems for example

  • Yeh, Flying Faders by Martin Sound and the board is a Neve VR

  • whow, those faders are fast :p

You should put a pingpongbal on one and shoot, see how far it will go. Just to do some real science 8-)

  • Now all you have to do, is write music instead of mucking about. You can do this with Dominoes, and it's cheaper than a Neve, heh heh

  • Neve VR FTW!!!

    :)

  • Beautiful!

  • Looks like marines with rifles.lol

    Cool

  • yes

  • wonderful

  • And this wonderful thing can ALSO be used to mix stuff?

  • haha

  • to much time on your hands. thats tight!

  • thats a built in self test, they dont have THAT much time on their hands

  • isn't she a buety! may I ask you for permission to wed?

  • why not?

  • thats new media art. create!

  • Martinsound! Necam 96 never moved like that eh?

  • it's like a skeleton of a snake :p

  • test fad execute right?

been a while since i've worked on a VR. haha.

gotta catch up on my computer chops.

i saw u mention on a nother post something about an easter egg on the flying faders screen.....

    elaborate?

  • yeh, click to the left of the neve lightening flash! It's like a portal to the past.

  • rich shit !! im going to work on it next week and i cant wait !!!

and you better teach me how to do this !

  • AAGH!!! The power of Chris compels you!!!!

  • LMAO

  • I want to book some studio time SO I can record my own video of ur console lol Gosh I wish I could modify my small mackie hui to move this fast!

  • W T F... LOL!

  • still a Neve tho

  • I always thought they (I'm assuming 88) were in the million pound range.

  • unfortunately we only have a VR.

  • To Cincopuntouno: 1.5 million pounds I beleive

  • an exageration to the power of six my dear chap

  • That was coolest thing I've ever seen done with audio equipment! :)

  • wow is my dream , are there more lights in that? wow

  • Schnikies you can find everything on the you'. Great behind the scenes look at pop music tech. Would be cool to see them running during an actual remix.

  • believe me, it's nowhere near as athletic when a mix is running. It'd proberly be the most boring video on youtube. Sorry.

  • Neve the best mix console ever! thanks Rupert Neve for this god alike consoles!!!

  • SSL 4 life. lol =)

  • ARE THOSE FADERS SO FAST? it's because there's a point where every fader goes "up and down" in less than a second... awesome

what's th estimated price of that MIXING DESK??

  • Now thats wisely used studio time at its finest- I heat ya Bro

  • I am so glad to read it was a diagnostics test. I thought perhaps you really did not have enough to do!

    Cheers
