What show...what year folks.I travelled for so many shows.....remember Bobby in those shorts, just wonderin' if I might've caught this one,Thanks Mark Williams
nice job, but I prefer the orginal version by Joni Mitchell. Plus those short shorts are so distracting and I'm gay and still can't deal with them.. It must have been very hot.
@xcrcapone Thanks for the enlightenment! I see now you are corrent and John Phillips wrote it prior to the 1965 airing of Joni singing it, but I can't find a posting of him singing it prior to then. Did he just write it for others?
@joesephwind.. Well Judy Collins first covered it. He had forgotten he wrote it. It's a funny story. I read it in the coffee table book called "Hippies".
This is a lot tighter than the Woodstock version. I have another version on a 1971 live album on vinyl. This is nice and tight, Weir is much more articulate. I have heard John Phillips, Joni Mitchell and Grateful Dead versions. Nice job boys.
You know "my boys" here, and I love em, can get a little rough around the edges sometimes, but all in all, they're still one of the most creative, innovative, bands I've ever heard, with a lot of heart and soul. I now play steel in a country music band and I really "thik" we ougtta do Me and My Uncle. Great song. Marc.
I'd love to hear it. my buddy and i are playin this one at an open mic tonight, with a little bluegrass spin. but now i gotta learn cumberland blues too.
John Phillips did. Judy Collins recorded it first and Phillips got royalty checks for it not remembering writing it because he was so drunk on tequila. Luckily he had a running blank tape going when he wrote it and song it. Stills Neil Young and Collins were with him when he wrote it.
ya gotta be kiidinng me,,, its 3 am , i'm hammed , and i havent heard this since 12 years , could die in my sleep happy,,,, awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! im just A dancing happy bear!!!! AGAIN!!!!!

Funny how Bobby started to take the "Lotta poor man got the Cumberland Blues" part 7:47. Jerry faked him out. Or was he giving Jerry a vocal cue?

--- these boys loved their work so much, sometimes they'd jump in on each others vocals. Dont hate! They are just kids in the candy shop :D

@joesephwind It's actually not a Joni Mitchell cover.. It's a John Phillips song that The Dead and her covered.
