  • Just told happyconsolegamer about this hes going to flip

  • Anyone know the name of the first song that plays?

  • such a great story (matrix copied from this anime) and potentially a great game for ps3 and we get this...!?

  • yeah the Trilogy was awesome (I still have all 3 on VHS! LOL!) The first one, by far, was and still is the best though..and it came out in 1985 not 1989! I've been psyched waiting for this game to come out, but I agree, if it is turn based, it could prove to be disappointing.

  • The art in this is disappointing. I can stomach turn-based story games if I really had to(really not my thing).

I'm more a gamer than an anime fan and I just can't play this sort of thing.

  • Yeah, if you can't make game spinoff from anime that's really playable then you have to make the game better for yourself.

  • I'd buy this if for no other reason than it is a part of the Megazoone 23 line. I've been a die hard fan of MZ23 since I first saw it in 1986 or so shortly after it first came to US shores. I even still have my VHS copy of it from back when all my friends would go to anime conventions and string together about 10-12 VCR's and just copy tape after tape for days. lol

    Megazone 23 RULES!!

  • I remember those days.

  • Someone has bought this???

  • In case you were wondering, yes Thundercats is an anime. It was owned by an american company, who outsourced to a japanese animation company, and henceforth it is technically anime. Anyways if this game centres on megazone parts I and II it will probably suck. Part III was easily the best, good tunage to boot, tragic idol and sleeping beauty being 2 particularly good songs worthy of mention (Saki Takaoka). That is all. - Dan

  • This game is like a new ova/ gaiden where you play as shogo's son, Takanaka Hiroto.

  • The matrix borrowed a lot of ideas from this classic anime, like most western films we watch, the storyline usually has been done before in Japan. Also reverend you must be pretty old or something man, megazone 23 is 1989 thats nearly 20 years ago, fairly old in anyones books. 80's anime kicked ass, i remeber getting into it when i was about 7 (1989) when everyone else was watching thundercats and such (anime also), i saw my first head explosion in the anime "akira" on a black and white t.v,

  • is this coming to N.america?

  • I love the music!

  • omg is this coming to europe? pls reply ty

  • It's not

  • Things like this make it very easy to develop an unrealistically nostalgic view of the 1980s by sheer virtue of how much this blows.

Twenty-three years ago the music was better, the robots were awesomer, and the girls were much, much cuter.

  • Don't you know anything about the plot of Megazone 23? The setting's supposed to be really dated.

  • If Megazone 23 is considered dated then the current era must really fucking suck.

  • I have no idea what you're talking about. My point is that the in the story of Megazone 23, civilians aboard a spaceship (in the future) are living in an artificial 80s Tokyo, created by a computer. They picked the 80s because, let's face it, that was a great time to be living in Japan, economically and otherwise. So the setting is supposed to be dated.

  • I think they picked the 80's because it was the 80's when this was released.

If the Matrix presented the world as if it were in medieval times I highly doubt the result would have been nearly as effective. The same could be said for MZ.

  • Whats the name of the first song

  • You can find the name of the song in the video at 00:49, REAL by TOMO.

  • I don't mnd the changes too much but yeah they need to get all 3 Megazones here. The Good,The Bad,The 80s.

  • Wow..they managed to take a classic 80s OAV and literaly.."transform" it into generic anime crap in game form.

  • (sigh) Megazone 23 was one of the best animes on Par with Macross 1984. Haruhiko Mikimoto doesn't draw unless it has an idol singer. It's a real shame that Kumi Miyasato wasn't back in the singing industry, because she was just as good as Mari Iijima. I still like hand drawn anime more than I do computer anime.

  • IIRC Mikimoto only did character designs for two anime with idol singers (this one and Macross).

  • Looks like a lame mix of a dating sim and Super Robot wars....why do I want something looks turn based when I wanna fin ride the garland?

  • Exactly! When I saw the import disc in chinatown, I was like OMG MZ23 game!!!I thought it would be something right out badass on par with House of the Dead 2 or 3 or something like that. It pains me to say this, but from what I've seen here, it looks like a huge disappointment. I mean, leave the dating sims for PC only please!!!And don't get me wrong, SRW is excellent, but it simply doesn't fit at all here.

  • its not a dating sim, its an adventure/ rpg game.

  • I wonder if either the Asian or Japanese version of the game will have an English option..

  • Sweet! I downloaded the video off of the Japanese PS store, and I think I may import :)

  • Do you think you could upload it on a Rapidshare or something like that.

  • It comes out in September 13 already released in Japan. I'll be getting my Limited Edition sometime by tomorrow(The Limited Edition brings 'Megazone 23 INTERNATIONAL PART II' DVD VIDEO). I am really disappointed about this and the voiceover they did for Eve.... sigh, can't wait for this week! ^^

  • What exactly is "(The Limited Edition brings 'Megazone 23 INTERNATIONAL PART II' DVD VIDEO)"?

  • It's an English dub done by the Harmony Gold stable of actors for the sole purpose of teaching English to Japanese students. It was never intended for a U.S. release.

I have it on bootleg VHS. It's subtitled in Japanese. Highlights include Barbara Goodson as Suzy Sue (Yui), Mike McConnohie as B.D., and Arlene Banas (Carly from Transformers) as Dump.

  • So Kumi Miyasato didn't reprise her role as Eve?

  • Um, no. She would be, what in her 40s now?

Plus she vanished in the early 90s without a trace. It is rumored she just retired, and now lives as a housewife.

A shame, really...her voice was great.

  • She's 38, not that it matters.

Another rumor is that her contract with Victor Records wasn't renewed, due to supposed diminished popularity.

  • First song is really good and gives the Megazone feel quiet nicely. I'm not sure why they expect me to buy that the second song is by Eve Tokimatsuri as Eve had a distinctively deep voice, look at any of the songs on youtube for reference. This one sounds like a generic modern pop idol, and since this game is supposed to take place between Part 1 and 2, that means Eve goes from deep voice 80's pop, to generic high pitched sugar idol pop and back for part 2, which makes no sense.

  • Actually, the game takes place in an alternate universe where Part 2 never happens. It simply continues on from Part 1.

  • when does the game come out and is it aa stragy game?
