There's me at 00:30 on the right of my mate with the straw hat on the bottom left-hand side, I came in only knowing Grounds For Divorce, came out f*****g loving them, didn't realise that they played a mile away from me back in 08. I absolutely bloody loved them, only muse out-did them(I am a muser anyway):)
This band was sooo boring. The only reason I am watching is to find myself in the crowd. You British are so susceptible, it was like you were praying to some gods. Couldn't stop laughing and I taped my response to it too. Funny as heck
I had never heard much of Elbow before, but the day I saw them at Leeds I was breath taken the entire time. And there were a few tears during Open Arms...
@vinneyism They bloody are, the people that like muse are generally shitty little scene kids who think that muse are really different and cool, elbow are a manly band, guy garvey's just brilliant and they can put on an amazing show with none of the shit muse use, bands like mumford and sons and elbow are climbing to the top of the ladder especially at festivals because of how simple their shows are, and how they blow the audience out of the water at the same time
@Olie23231 well im not a shitty little kid lol im actually 46 ,so think befor you say anything ,i didnt actually say i didnt like elbow ,just said was not as good as muse ,where you said elbow were better, and i like mumford and sons too,but dont make them better than muse, not in my view anyway you were the one slagging muse off ,so im a muse fan and saying my point too.
@vinneyism I said generally because the majority of muse fans are shitty little scene kids, the type with multi coloured hair and a love for ed sheeran and skrillex at the same time. I used to like muse, but never in my mind will they appear with as much grace and beauty as mumford and sons and elbow, both bands deserved to headline glastonbury, not beyonce.
@vinneyism They bloody are, the people that like muse are generally shitty little scene kids who think that muse are really different and cool, elbow are a manly band, guy garvey's just brilliant and they can put on an amazing show with none of the shit muse use, bands like mumford and sons and elbow are climbing to the top of the ladder especially at festivals because of how simple their shows are, and how they blow the audience out of the water at the same time
@Olie23231 I can tell you and me are going to be good friends. Where as Muse have simple catchy tunes and a shit ton of production effects, Elbow have soul and passion.
@BrettSmith92 Exactly, im not taking anything away from muse as a band I think matt bellamy is a great guitarist and lyricist but there music is nothing compared to elbow's. Elbow are one of the simplest and hard working band's I've ever come across and they are one of the best british bands around, and more so they deserve to be after how long it took them to get where they are. Elbow ooze soul, they're songs are just so damn beautiful <3
@Olie23231 I agree with you. Although I go to the bands for two completely different things. For must to completely lose yourself in, to relax, to study to, Elbow are unsurpassed. For music to play along to, to get excited and loud to, and to delve into the darker parts of your mind, Muse are the boys. But I enjoy both bands in equal parts :)
@0Genus0 I completely agree. So much happened to me at Muse simply from the excitement and atmosphere. I was entirely sober whilst I was at Muse and yet I still managed to walk back to my tent in a high daze. Its difficult to compare Muse to much because not much is comparable to them, when you hear Muse, you KNOW it's Muse. Although, that doesn't mean I think Elbow is without talent. I only started to listen to them after he mentioned our mantrain, you can see him watching us at 23:28 XD haha!
@EdnaShamrock I was exactly the same! After Friday night at Leeds, marching through the mud straight after Muse, I was so light-headed! Everything around me was so much brighter and clearer. I was on a completely natural high from finally seeing the band I've been obsessed with for three years, and playing the whole of my favourite ever album no less! Although when I got back to the tent I realised I could hardly remember a single thing. I was in a completely different world for those two hours!
@0Genus0 I couldnt remember much either!!! So much had happened to me, I was at the front, got pulled away from my friends, somehow got to the barrier, pushed over, accidently crowdsurfed when I was pulled back up. I felt so claustrophobic, I had to get out of there and I was pulled out by a hero!! I'd found another good spot, very crowded but not too crowded which was perfect. I thought I was safe until the person next to me lit a flare but I can see myself on camera!!
@0Genus0 I was rewatching the entire performance and I just couldn't remember much of it at all, it all went so fast!! It was just so fucking amazing. Nothing like it. I honestly can't wait for next year. A fucking dangerous but amazing band! Who needs drugs at Reading when you have Muse?! He smashed the guitar and I couldn't help but think "how the fuck is Kate Hudson still alive?"
I like Elbow, I think they're very talented but I doubt I'd be able to walk away from them like I did with Muse.
@EdnaShamrock The only reason I didn't walk away from this like I did Muse is because I was still reeling from both Elbow AND Muse when I left. They're both great. Personally, I prefer Elbow, but that means NOTHING.
A perfect way to see in the final evening of Reading. The sun slowly sinking over the back of the arenas, turning the sky golden. A gentle breeze and the sound of Elbow and Guy's voice flowing over you like warm chocolate.....heaven.
Did anyone else feel like he seemed slightly| tipsy the entire performance? They've cut out the bits where he made a birthday song and told the audience to behave like dicks it seems...
One of the highlights of this year's reading certainly.
Elbow AND Muse in one night... I'm fainting.
