  • Every body thinks that they should give their 2 cents about what they find wrong about this video, i wonder if they put up any videos in which they did a better job?

Hey guys cannon blogger isnt trying to write a bible here.

Bottom line, you helped my navigate thru the menu a bit better, and im planning on playing around with the different settings to find what way i think works best. I would recommend learning that way, its much more rewarding in the end.

  • only one suggestion I want to add here. for hdr you should use aperture priority instead of shutter priority because the depth of field will be totally messed up when you merge your images.

  • @achalk4 Yeah, I made this video without considering the effects on dof in post production. Oh well, at least the principle holds! LOL

  • thanks , could never figure this out til now ...I sold my 40 for a 60D, but never did HDR or bracketing until this year , thanks

  • Thanks now am understood

  • Cool. Gotta love auto bracketing.

  • i have a canon mark iv and this was a great help, had to alter a few things but it helped finding the auto bracketing system for me! Thank you tons and great vid!

  • awesome video thanks canonblogger

  • Yah - up to the part where I got it completely backwards i front of a global audience! LOL

  • Don't worry about it dude, it was my reluctance to RTFM that led me you YouTube to get to grips with the AEB function in the menu system! :o) Otherwise, though, it's a REALLY useful and informative post!

  • Now see, this is why one should never communicate when over-tired. pardon my brain, it's operating on about 1 hour of sleep over the past 2 days and I am apparently becoming dyslexic - my bad! LOL (And thanks for keeping me on the straight and narrow!) *grin* (Psst...I did rtfm, how embarrassing is that? LOL)

  • Dude, in Tv you choose the shutter speed (Time Priority), and the aperture will change to compensate. In Av (Aperture Priotiry) you chose the aperture and the shutter speed will change to compensate. RTFM.

  • Heh, I've gotten enough feedback that I am considering retracting the whole idea of taking HDR shots by changing aperture...

But if YOu are in Av (for BileMonkey) you ARE changing the aperture not the shutter. If you want shutter to be the only thing changing, you should be in Tv

  • It's straight forward, for HDR you would typically want shots that are identical barring the exposure. If you change the exposure with the aperture you are changing the DoF as well - hence your shots won't be the same. Changing the shutter speed only alters the exposure of the image, hence you shoot in Av.

  • According to who? Why? Seems a rather blanket statement without any supporting evidence. Sure, most keep aperture constant, but changing aperture and adjusting shutter is another way to go - think outside the box my friend...

  • because the reason you buy an SLR is so YOU can chose the composition, YOU select the depth.

and like ~BileMonkey~ said because if you compose 3 shots, one with f 2.8(background out of focus) one semi-in focus and one at f 12 (background huge focus) you let your software do it's thing and you get. blur+semi blur+ no blur... All in one.

You think your outside the box my friend but your in the box.

  • u should keep the aperture same all over for HDR
