  • im 6 ft 4 inches is the bike too small for me?

  • @CanonPhotos Possibly, leg length is more important. Go and sit on one :)

  • JUST START THE FUCKING BIKE, FUCK SAKE

  • @HaydnH46 I've got crap loads of videos with the bike running. Use your brain.

  • restricting a bike - is kinda like putting a punto engine in ferrari!

  • @ukcameraman Trust me, it didn't take away that much power. Slight exaggeration.

  • hey, could you tell me how many miles per gallon you get?, a gallon is around 4.5 leiters if i remember corectly. just im getting myself one of these but the 91 modle on friday and since it doesnt have a feul gage on it it be ausfull thing to know :) cheers

  • @nara94 I think it was about 45 on this bike. I got EXACTLY 102 miles to a tank :)

  • @extreme601 thanks :)

  • what would the insurance be like for someone aged 22 and first bike?

  • @kli1 It completely depends on your history, location, security and a hundred other factors. But if you want a rough guess, I'd say probably between 400-600 somewhere. Run a few insurance quotes :)

  • @kli1 for im 17 and i have been quoted 800 pound fully comp

  • nice clean bike you have . have one myself for last month great bike so far its 2001 wit 12000miles do you do any service work urself eg. plugs air filter jus wonderin is it tricky takin of tank and such or just common sense .

  • @EG6SIR1 It was a great bike, but as you'd see from recent videos I've not got the ZXR anymore. Yours sounds just about exactly the same as mine was, excellent bike. Filters, oil etc all very easy, tank off, air box off and that's it. Nice and simple :)

  • @extreme601 Hey.

I might get one of these soon, and was wondering where I cold find the restriction kit? I've checked everywhere and can't seem to find any

  • @PwnedHaxor It's a pain. I found mine after months of searching on German eBay :P

Failing that, you'll have to get a garage to order a kit directly from the manufacturers.

  • @extreme601 Yeah, well I've found out the dimensions of the restrictor. It's pretty easy to make it yourself, So I might do that, and put them in myself too.

There is a site who sells the restrictor kit for £170!!! If I make it myself, It roughly cost me about £20, maybe less

  • @PwnedHaxor Absolutely, that's the way to do it.

  • dont bother the change of u getting caught is so slim there is more chance of u meeting the pope tomoz

  • nice bike dude. i'm lookin at gettin a CBR400RR . any difference between them?

  • @Leekpostman Very similar I think :)

  • Thankyou I will let you no how it gos haha

  • Ahh thank you lol iv got my 33bhp MOD 2 test today so iv got ma fingers crossed if you get a chance chek out my bids :D

  • @WAKERZ500 Good luck, man! :)

  • Love the bike but one quick question if you can answer it ... What are the pipes going from the tank the the front fairing

  • @WAKERZ500 Air inlet to the airbox.

  • Subscribed BAM! :D i like your vids.. i am about to buy a ZXR400 right in the beginning of 2011 :) i am so excited.. this bike is kinda amazing and so sexy.. just like a good old women.. with botox..well anyways would you like to do a "what to take care of when buying a ZXR400" video? :) would be so cool.. :) greetings from germany ;D

  • @JumboMuffin Haha, thanks very much :P

Yeah, it's a pretty good bike, nice choice. I will definitely make that video for you, but it probably won't be for a couple of months because it's away for the winter. Let me know if that's too late :)

  • @extreme601 I'm about to buy my ZXR400 in April .. i probably guess.. thats the dead end haha :P march or so would be even cooler ;D and thanks for that "up coming" video dedicated to me, haha !.. joking.. anyways ;D nice bike :) next month i am going to buy my leathers :O! have a good night.. or what ever it's on your side of the world xD

  • you sound a lot like Darren Brown. Nice bike, I'll be moving onto a restricted kawasaki er 5 once I've passed my test

  • @superjackhamm3 Lol thanks. Good luck with the test. The ER 5 is a great bike :)

  • This is seriously the best/most informative walk around in such a short video that I've seen in the motovlog community. Better than some motorcycle magazine reviews, maybe not as "polished" but very nice if I was interested in buying this bike. Subscribed.

  • @Baggahammers Thanks very much! I really appreciate that :)

  • im hopefully doing my a2 before christmas but tbh i cnt decide on a cbr 400 or 600 or this hmmm choices lol

  • @nickgandy3 Lol good luck with that :)

  • I just bought a 1990 H2 version. Being that I'm from the U.S. I have a silly question. Where do the Brits put their road tax disc?!!!

  • @Sixfigas That's awesome. Tax discs are usually to the left of the front wheel :)

  • @extreme601 Ahh. That makes sense. I've been carrying the damn thing in my pocket!!!! Thanks for the info.

  • Do you have to have it restricted down to 33 brake because one your licence and two your age ??? or is it just the law??

  • @RoyalAirForcex Yes, it's both of those. I got my full licence before the age of 21 and now must be restricted to 33bhp for two years according to UK law.

  • cool vid! Iv never seen one of these bikes before.

  • @02wheels Thanks :)

  • reading off a paper noob

  • @xninjazx6r Well I apologise for not being up to your standards.

  • The pipes are cold air feeds not ram air :) ram air is a pressurized air box. Those pipes simply feed colder air to the carbs so its not breathing hot air from around the engine

  • hey what are thoes 2 hoses going from the gas tank to the handlebars for?

  • Ram Air I do believe. Goes straight into the air box under/behind the tank :)

  • @speedemon103 they're not really needed for the zxr 400, more for the zxr 750 i've heard

  • @Jack5371 Probably has some truth to it. I believe they wanted to keep them as similar as possible so they threw them on :)

  • I am not trying to be a jerk here. I am honestly interested in knowing why you guys always pronounce the "Z" on these bikes like "Zed" instead of "Zee"? I never understood. Please enlighten me.

  • I actually have no idea, its just how it's taught over here. When you say the alphabet, the G, P and V all sound with two 'ee's so in theory it should be a 'Zee' sound :p

English accent and all that xD

  • @extreme601 2 things, is it an aftermarket exhaust? and also have you been on like a newer sportsbike ? and if so would you say that the zxr 400 is more comfortable then a like 05 r6 or gsxr or somthing?

  • @latana151 Yes, mine is after market, made by MTC Exhausts. I'd not heard of them previously. The only other bikes I have experienced are the Ninja 250r and the SV650. I personally like the position on mine over those two. Unfortunately I've never used any other bikes.

  • @extreme601 ahh fair enough, i just wondered how it was compared to like a 06+ sports bike as i have the yzf-r125 and i would like somthing that ideally is a little more comfortable :P

  • @latana151 Yes it makes sense. I did two hundred and seventy miles on a Saturday a few weeks back, could have done 300 but much more would have been slightly uncomfortable. It would be interesting to see how other bigger bikes compare.

  • @geesisfreak haha Zed Ex Argh

  • nice bike man i like

  • Thank you :)

  • Nice Bike!

  • Thanks :)

  • Beautiful Kawa you got there, I'm thinking about perhaps getting one just like that myself in couple months time, since I sold my 125cc Yamaha few months back. There's just something really cool about small 400cc sports bikes, and yeah you probably won't end up dead with one quite as easily as with a 600cc Ninja or R6 :)

  • Thank you! :)

I do love it, it's perfect for me being a still relatively new rider, definately recommend it. As long as you dont care much about fuel conservation :P

  • The big question is... do you know where to get parts for it :p

Your lucky enough to own the L9 as you can get full body work and upgraded gear dirt cheap and relativity easy... my H2 is like murder to get parts for... Currently need new forks or a lathe.

  • I haven't actually looked where to get parts yet, but I've heard that it's easy enough, like you said.

I didn't know the H models were worse for locating parts.. bad luck on that one :P

  • Its a bit of a pain in the arse. I have mentioned a website for you to join thats 100% ZXR and its where I get most of my parts from. The mod there Baz is a ZX4 Breaker so he always has a stock of parts. Yeah its harder to get H parts... Its a Grey bike seeing as we didnt get the ZXR4 until 93 or so... The H had a slightly wider frame, different in places and different sizes and mounting points. the H also has a fat arse... as you will see if I ever get mine back on the road :p

  • I've been a member of that site since I got the bike :p Thought it was probably a good idea for advice and parts or whatever. Might take a look on there for some crash protectors, probably a good idea. I thought the H model was always available here, learn something new every day I guess :p I watched a couple of your videos, saw the bike in the MOT one, I like the black! :)

  • Good move really. Crash bungs I believe you can get on ebay for the L model but cost around 50 quid for a set. Nah the ZXR was a popular grey import back in the early 90s so the H model was brought over and eventually by 1993 they brought the bike over officially. Or at least I believe thats the way it happened though we do have many converted UK spec H models. Beauty of a bike... shame the black is now screwed by the panel weld... Nothing a respray wont fix when I get the parts :p

  • Ah nice, I think I'll be doing that then. I didn't actually know that, it's good that they did bring it over, 400's are a really nice bridge between 250's and 600's. ..and it is a gorgeous bike :)

Will be good when yours is back up and using it again, and I see you're in Lowestoft from the vlogger map? :p

  • I never used to like sports bikes until I got "Guzzle". just a peppy little throw about. shame its not as reliable as it should be but then thats the old kwak way haha. Scary thing is the ZXR4 can happily keep up with the average 600 rider :p bloody amazing in corners to. Aye it will be brilliant... I think all I really need to do is get the forks lathed and then perhaps new front calipers or seals as I havent checked for corrosion *fronts lock* Lowestoft and Nowrich :p Living with Lab Alexander

  • Yeah, it really is great for that.

Ah fair enough, sounds good, hope to see you around soon then :p

  • ooo ok. thats pretty cool! I didnt even know they made 400's interesting!! well ride safe man, hope to see more vids.. ride safe

  • Lol yeah, Thanks :)

  • really?? Bummer, how do you restrict it tho?

  • Washers in the carbs. They have smaller holes to restrict the flow. I bought mine and fit them myself :)

  • So you have power restrictions depending on license or what was that bout the restriction??

  • If you get your full licence before you're 21, you have to restrict your bike to 33bhp for two years.

  • OMG are these legal in US?? this is like the perfect bike for me. i dont want the 250 ninja but i dont wanna move up to the 500.

  • They're legal but Kawasaki never shipped them over. It's imports only, but I do believe there are a few floating around :)

  • damn. how much u think they'd cost in the US?

  • No idea I'm afraid, about $4000 maybe.

  • @extreme601 no petrol gauge, so after how many miles do you look for a petrol garage :D?

  • I hit reserve at about 102 xD

  • @extreme601

ahh cool :D did you find the zxr400 very heavy? compared to the 125 ive currently got a yamaha yzf-r125, going for theory in about a month then ill get round to full test!

  • Compared the the 125, the ZXR is very heavy. Easy enough to get used to though. Much more stable during riding also. I really quite like the yzf-r125, I know a couple of people with them, nice bikes. Good luck getting the licence, its worth doing! xD

  • Ah nice bike i passed my test in november and still not got a bike, i want a cbr 600F , how much was ur bike if you dont mind me asking?

  • That's a nice bike, good luck with that! I paid about 2.5k for mine :)

  • Dude what about some revs to the redline eh ? :)

  • I'm recording a video sometime this week with a load of redlining :P

  • That is a very cool bike, I wish that kawi would have brought the 400 to the states.

  • Yeah, I like it ;) It is a shame they didnt, there are only a few imports floating around.

  • Very good overview. Digging your notes you were reading of of. :-P

  • Haha yeah, I tried to remember it all but it just wasn't happening :P

  • hi mate, great videos! what sort of price per year is your insurance at ? ty :)

  • Thanks, I have TPF&T insurance. Costs me about £600 per year.

  • I like it :-)

But tbh, I've never been crazy about having anything over the bars/tripleclamp - like these older sportbikes had with air-ducting & fairing supports. Just a personal preference tho.

I'll be interested to see what the bike's acceleration is like, especially from low speeds. Just curious about how the torque characteristics of a restricted 400 I-4 compare to say a restricted 650 v-twin (Pedaway's bike).

  • The design is very much something to get used to. Tbh, I didn't really like it to begin with but it's grown on me :)

I'll do an acceleration demo video soon if you like, 0-60 and 30-70 and stuff like that?

  • Oh, that's cool... most welcome indeed :-)

I'll observe how the bike sounds & accelerates as u ride around in ur vids too... it's just one of the things I notice when watching motovlogger vids ;-)

  • Btw, I'm curious - Are many 400's bought & sold in the UK (whether new or used).

I thought they were, but I could be wrong tho... idk.

  • I don't think there's a huge market for 400's here. It generally jumps from 250 to 600 and 650. 400's seem to be older bikes like the ZXR and the GSXR.

  • That's a sharp looking bike. It does look like it has a rather aggressive riding position.

  • Yes, the postition is very low, with straight arms it's not so bad but it gives painful wrists after a while :P

  • I guess I'm lucky because in my country there aren't so many restrictions(as far as I know). Do you have to make those restrictions to the bike for 2 years after you got your license even if you're older or is it just for young, beginner riders? I'm just curious because don't now how it works in the UK.

  • If you're 21 or over, you can ride any bike unrestricted. It's only for beginners, but it's a good idea really, makes youger people get used to bigger bikes before getting full power.

  • you're right. it is a good idea. I have friends that are 20 years old and they ride 600 cc bikes. I also know guys the same age that died in bike accidents, also riding powerful bikes so I guess it's better with restrictions. I'm 23 but I'm a beginner that's why I think the ZXR 400 is the bike for me:D

  • I definately recommend it, not quite powerful enough to get you in a tonne of trouble but plenty enough to keep you very entertained xD

Keep me updated on that :)

  • I will but right now I'm in the process of earning the money. I just graduated the college and that's where all my money went.:(

  • Ah fair enough. Good luck with that :)

  • looks good (Y) .

  • Thank you :)

  • Want! lol I love the ZXR400. Went out on my bike today because it wasnt raining and wow... It's screwed! Needs so much work because it's just sat on it's own for a few months.

  • It is really nice :)

I hate leaving my bike alone for that long, it really messes with them. Going to give mine a full service soon after leaving it for a month.
