Both Frankie Boyle and Michael McIntyre are funny. The world is big enough that there can exist more than one funny person at any one time. They simply do different styles of comedy. I like both but prefer Michael McIntrye as he is funny, often hilarious, without needing to be vicious and insulting. Generally I lament many so-called comedians' reliance on profanity, shock, poisonous invective and SHOUTING.
Ronnie Barker, RIP, never had to nor would have countenanced stooping so low.
Michael Mcintyre is 10x funnier than Frankie Boyle. I think most legit comedians would agree on that.
Frankie Boyle is a cunt. His entire approach to comedy is shock. Most comedians rely on that for 1 or 2 jokes per set, his whole comedic persona is based around it. Mcintyre isn't exactly a versatile comic, but I'd much rather listen to mildly amusing observational comedy, than obnoxious, unfunny, stale, poorly delivered jokes about taboo subjects that arent that funny in the first place.
Macintyre is an irritating little twat who does silly voices and screams to make dumb people laugh. Much like Lee Evans except that Macintyre has a much, much more annoying face.
He actually used to be a very good observational comic. And then just became an observer, without much emphasis on the comedy. Agreed the silly high voices and stuff are dumb, but he's only gotten shit because he's found a pattern that's worked and he's sold out. He's still capable of being very funny, he'd just prefer to make money/satisfy his ego. Nothing wrong with that.
Boyle, on the other hand, is just categorically not funny.

i think the comparrisons made between the music industry and comedy are good. Michael McIntyre is unnofensive, mainstream and easy to 'get' like certain modern pop groups like Coldplay. Boyle is agressive, political and controversial like Slayer....i really hate Coldplay :)
