hahaha doesnt always slide out so easy, me and 2 friends had to cuss and coax it out of place, and then had to use a 2x4 and a hammer to get it back in
Thanks for the video dude. A claw hammer, sometimes that is all we have but a dead blow will do less damages. if you strike the u-joint cap with the hammer you can cause the metal to bend and after the new cap is in there cause premature failure of the next joint. We might never really know this is happening but its just a word of caution - occasionally a 3#er is all that will take things apart though......
the truck has Michigan tags...Snow = salt on the roads = rust. Awesome timing for these videos. Repairing the u joint in my explorer right now! Thanks!
thats alot of rust, my rigs have over 200,000 miles and zero rust even with our 100 inches of rain per year. not sure how that got so rusty? raining acid where you live?
Any suggestion as to what to do when the drive shaft is already out (universal breaks while driving) and you have to figure out which way to put it back?
@lep1950 I ASSUME IT WOULD BE HIT OR MISS, ATTATCH IT THEN KEEP REMOVING AND ROTATING IT OVER A HOLE EACH TIME CLOCKWISE TILL U FIND THE RIGHT ARRANGEMENT... MOST I CAN FIGURE
I'm sorry, but the pause you took after saying "a piece of soap stone" and then laying down and going under the car was PERFECT. Unintentionally perfect comedic timing ftw.
have u had issues with ur drive shaft seal or axle seal, I have the same year gmc safari. & my dive shafts wiggle pretty loose & makea a scratching or gears rubbing noise?
Isn't the driveshaft alot more heavier than that, it seemed like it come loose like a feather, kinda odd to hold it with one hand while hammering away with the other. Please provide feedback - I guess I could use a jack stand If I am not sure tho.
@MegaCastleRock driveshafts are actually made with pretty thin material, that one probably only weighs 20lbs or so. two piece driveshafts are a little heavier though
white out works better
