He's singing about his viola. I too only ever saw him at the 'Malpiyali' musical show at Tudella church feast back in the early 70s. Did you see him in Wattala? If so when? Thanks for the comment!!
@goonewj no I did not see him wattala but when I went to the feast my grandma would hav a baila session and inevitably this song came up as well as others. This was in the 7os before all the troubles. Hopefully Sri Lanka will beome the "land of Smiles" it once was

I read in some old books that there´s an old Sri Lankan guitar named "viaule", with 12 strings.....you know this instrument? I am asking it because we have here in Brazil this same guitar, with the same name.

Thanks. No, it is Baila. Language is Sinhalese, the native language only spoken in Sri Lanka. The genre Baila is a mixture of Portugese and African (Kaffir) music adapted into Sinhalese music on 6/8 rythm by the late Mr. Wally Bastian. Baila is the most popular dance music in Sri Lanka.

This the first version, I can identify Mr Rocksamy,s STRADIVARIUS violin solo. Music director was Aelian soysa the famous Harmonium player of Victors "Podikumarihamy" song.
Lovely, I requested this from many friends, but never knew that you had it.
According to my experience the enhancement is they have dubbed electric bass, clappers, tabla and a little percussion effect on top of the original double bass, rabana etc. But still no damage for the original. This was a common practice in SL to increase the trebles and bass levels in yesteryear records.
This is the first version may have been enhanced with a little rythem touch, I can identify Mr Rocksamy's STRADIVARIUS original violin solo.Music is directed by Aelian Soysa the famous harmonium player of Victors "Podikumarihamy" song.

Thanks. This is the Torana version. However, I have a version that was copied from the original vinyl myself in SL, and its pretty much the same apart from the clicks and pops filtered out on the Torana version. I don't think that this one has been dubbed over.
If you read the album's back cover, it states music reproduced under the supervision of Rajiv Sebastian & coordinated by Vernon Perera. My guess is they have over dubbed the music. They did the same thing to C. T. Fernando's albums.
Sure Aruna. I too noticed that, but on this track I could not find any difference apart from that it is of better quality than a typical vinyl track. So you may be right that it might have been digitally enhanced.

According to my experience the enhancement is they have dubbed electric bass, clappers, tabla and a little percussion effect on top of the original double bass, rabana etc. But still no damage for the original. This was a common practice in SL to increase the trebles and bass levels in yesteryear records.
I think Aruna will add a little more on that.

Hi All,
This is the first version may have been enhanced with a little rythem touch, I can identify Mr Rocksamy's STRADIVARIUS original violin solo.Music is directed by Aelian Soysa the famous harmonium player of Victors "Podikumarihamy" song.
Thanks Jude good job, in fact I requested this from many friends, never knew that you would have it.

Thanks Palitha. I do have the original somewhere in SL, that I myself copied from a 45RPM vinyl to a spool. I could hardly notice any difference in this version, apart from the pops and clicks have been removed. I will ask my bro to try locating the original if he can.

Thanks for sharing this. Just one quick question...did you take this from a vinyl or from the album Torana has released..?? The album Torana released has music reproduced by Rajiv Sebastian.

Hi Aruna,
Thanks. This is the Torana version. However, I have a version that was copied from the original vinyl myself in SL, and its pretty much the same apart from the clicks and pops filtered out on the Torana version. I don't think that this one has been dubbed over.

Dear Jude,
If you read the album's back cover, it states music reproduced under the supervision of Rajiv Sebastian & coordinated by Vernon Perera. My guess is they have over dubbed the music. They did the same thing to C. T. Fernando's albums.

Sure Aruna. I too noticed that, but on this track I could not find any difference apart from that it is of better quality than a typical vinyl track. So you may be right that it might have been digitally enhanced.
