I understand Toyota's commitment to technology and to safety, and other ads have been quite open and forthcoming about mistakes they have made. But I wonder about the choice of vocal actors for this spot. He's sounds to be a nice young man, but one hardly old enough to drive, no less have any understanding of automotive engineering and how far $1 million a day goes. And I understand Toyota's desire to appeal to a younger demographic, but this choice seems ineffective and inexplicable.
How would I use Toyota technology? Hmm, maybe we could put Toyota accelerator pedals and floor mats into trains and buses, that way, they wouldn't slow down and make us late all the time.
Are they Freaking High did they really forget what happen last year ? you know with the whole cars excellerating out of control and the breaks not working you know who didn't forget. the family members of the 67 people who where killed......!
I only know 19 death toll and pending if there is the Toyota's fault. And it turn out, it is not. Toyota figure out the UA claim was actually drive step on the gas rather then jam throttle pedal. If you want to challenge their are finding, you can look around why this UA problems are so significant only in North America. On the other hand, how many people being burn alive in their GMC truck (70s- early 2000s) after the crash?
You care about our safety huh...then why were you so INCREDIBLY slow to act on the problem that caused people to accelerate out of control, huh? You want ideas for a better world, how about weponizing that breaking problem to destroy enemy vehicles, it did a good enough job on US citizens.
@iTsKoNvIcT Ford received 16 Top Pick vehicles more than any automaker. Corollas are ugly in my opinion. just wait till 2011 Ford's 2012 Focus will kick ass especially its 2.0L Ecoboost 240hp 40MPG. Btw Venza mimics the front Edge but thats k the 2011 is bad ass. And Ford's first to offer inflatable seatbelt in its new 2011 Explorer, and collision warning. Toyota's are kind of late with its Star system, Ford has had their Personal Safety system since 2002; MyKey system, Curve control, etc.
One million dollars an hour? They must be doing something WRONG having to spend that much. I guess it isn't helping them with their sales or safety. For that matter their bottom line? They must be broke! Or have alot of fools buying their cars? Bought it new........I'll match my 2005 Mercury Montego with 215,000 miles on it, to any of your Toyota's maintenance records.Bring em' on!
@Jorge235ful Get informations before talking. The Audi TT had the same problem with gas and killed a lot of people too. And GM and VW had a lot of recalls, the only difference: VW called it "Service-Recall". This was never read in German news, because the German economy needs VW.
@AppleMacBookAir2 The Explorers didn't kill anyone. It was the recalled Firestone Tires which caused the issue. Ford engineers explicitly directed Firestone which specifications the tires were to be manufactured, which was disregarded.
Okay, so Toyota's used CTS pedals and took all the blame, but when it comes to Ford Explorers, it must be Firestone's fault. Chryslers have been found to have the same problem with their pedals from CTS. Very interesting indeed.
I'm not going to hold a grude against the entire company over a few factory errors, but come on. This is one of the most obnoxious ads I've ever seen. We all know what happened, Toyota doesn't have to try to sweep it under the rug. And that annoying voice! I keep half expecting it turning into a parody with a Toyota crashing into the studio and running over the guy speaking.
I guess Toyota figures they can sweep the mess under the rug by parlaying an annoying voice over classical music. America is not fooled, Toyota and I want a refund for the DEATHTRAP you sold me back in January.
HAHAAHAH, if Toyota is spending $1 million an hour, I'm sleeping with Leighton Meester and cheating on her with Katy Perry! What a lie, still love your cars though!
Wow Toyota has discovered Stability control, Traction Control, and antilock brakes. All of which have been standard on VW’s since 2002, how did that take a Million dollars an hour’s to develop? Toyota, Safety, LOL.
Toyota went as far as to hire NASA to investigate their cars in question. Lol.
