  • iTunes is terrible on non-mac pc's. Face that fact. I've had to wait this long on several different PC's running all different flavors of windows, from XP to Vista to 7. On otherwise fast machines with in some cases big sata hard drives and multiple gigs of ram.

  • I have the Archos 70 IT w/ a 250 GB hard drive, its freaking awesome, it lasted a whole 6 hour flight watching "Snatch" on it, then switched to doing crossword puzzles for the last part of the flight.

  • Dude who you trying to kid. I opened and closed iTunes about 20 times after I about 1:51 seconds into your video roughly.

I honestly I think its just as easy to only use iTunes to upload media, instead of the several ways with archos.

For the record iTunes does not suck but I don't think its better than everything, obviously you have an apple vendetta.

  • @SaltSlasher

Too focused on those two minutes because that's all the argument you guys can make. Answer this, if you've actually seen the point of the video, how long is the actual process to get the video on the iPod?

Apple advertises that it supports various codecs on the specs, but does it really?

  • @SaltSlasher Exactly what Ibushi said. AND, you can use WMM, Banshee, VLC, and MANY other programs/apps to sync with your Archos ;)

  • @SaltSlasher J'ouvre iTunes en 2 seconds.... ( Vertex3)

  • dood, NO ONE has to wait that long for itunes to load. that you have to wait so long means that you are doing something seriously wrong, or your system isn't maintained worth shit. fucking listen to the comments. i'm not saying that itunes doesn't suck. i'm not saying that transcoding doesn't suck. I'm not saying that apple doesn't suck. I am simply saying that you suck just as hard.

this video makes you look like a tard. accept it.

  • @evilsnakes1

I know it does. Doesn't change the fact the iTunes sucks.

  • seriously, you lose all credibility in the first minute. i like the archos more (if only it had a better screen!) but this demo is laughable

  • @evilsnakes1

Remarking about the first minute mesans you missed the point of the video by a mile.

  • thumbs up if you think the video should be called windows xp vs itunes loading process.

  • @UDLrazor

Nice one. But it's just two minutes out of twenty.

  • BTW, dude. You're not really presenting any good arguments, just spamming.

  • Its like in photography, the best camera for you is one that gets out of your way so you can concentrate on the work rather that the tool. Many business, research or academics I've met have recently switched to all Apple for their personal needs for this reason. But yes, if computers or business IT is your interest, then you are not about the GUI, you are about industry level computing, and consumer level products like Apple's are not for you.

  • @yaczone

You mean like what's happening in the video?

Even with a fresh install it still takes iTunes 2 minutes to load on both the file server (The one shown above) and my i5-750 quad core. It's just horribly coded especially considering that file server loads 3D Studio Max faster than iTunes.

Also note that it takes over 20 freaking minutes to get the video on the iPod. On the other hand, streaming off the PC with the Archos does not need any kind of CPU power. And it does it out of the box.

  • @Ibushi hmm, don't know what to tell you. my system is way slower than yours, and I never have that problem. Video compatibility is horrible, I agree. But again the library and automation is why I pick iTunes over others. ZumoCast free app does encode on the fly using CPU power, but thats when I'm not using the pc anyway, and can stream from anywhere and not just my home network.

  • Also, I don't like drag and dropping, the reason I have a computer is so I can prescribe some customised rules of synchronising and count on the machine to do the work. People whose business or interest is anything but the intricacies of computer systems don't like or have the time to maintain their tools, they just want it ready for use and use them.

  • If I owned a company that also sold machines as well as its software, I would rather spend my time developing software to work best with the architecture of the machines I sell. Improving software for other company's machines would be counterproductive to my business.

  • you need to switch to mac, you can run windows 7 on it and it opens itunes in <5 seconds fresh off a reboot

  • @asfsdgdhhfhfg

Funny, coz everything else runs fine on it

    ?v=pJ1GlfWeuYE

For a company that keeps promoting how horrible windows is, their own program is the worst i've seen in years. Drag ang dropping files is a normal windows feature, but drag anything more than a few into iTunes and it practically freezes.

  • @Ibushi Ok, im not gonna argue with you. I used to use pc but got a mac and loved it, macs aren't for everyone.

  • @asfsdgdhhfhfg NO YOU DUMB-ASS MAC Computers are over priced priced of garbage. For the same price as any mac computer i could build a pc 10x better you retard. DO UR RESEARCH before you go blindly buying something.

  • @asfsdgdhhfhfg @Ibushi yes, exactly. the system above is a poorly maintained one, because my 4 yr old pc loads iTunes within a few seconds. PC iTunes is a big memory hog, hence the need for a clean system, and the video compatibility can be annoying. But I use it for its library/file/sync management automation where many other players I tried proved annoying and useless. Video isn't a problem for me, because who has enough space for it anyway. I can stream any format from the pc using ZumoCast.

  • Omggg! I want to ask you so much stuff!

    1. How are you liking your archos 101 so far? I'm thinking on buying one.

    2. You think it's a good buy?

    3. how did you get it>! They're out of stock everywhere D:.

    Thanks :].

  • @iTooob

    1. Not perfect, but very functional. Having a file system alone makes a world of difference.

    2. I am *SO* glad I held out. Apparently, none of the other slates can do this.

    3. I'm not in the US =P

  • @Ibushi Not perfect? How's taht... Do yuo think this could work for my studies as a laptop? And... You think it would be worth 500 dollars of my money? D: lawl.

  • @iTooob

You'll have to go to archosfans for the details but the main issue is that it uses the same LCD as your laptop. Take a netbook and look at it from the sides, the colors wash out, however, you don't actually watch movies from that angle anyway.

The 10 inch model demonstrated here is $299, and for that price you get a device that can connect to anything without being dependent on proprietary software just to make it work. Worth it? Oh yeah.

  • you can do the same thing with the Ipad, you can stream through airvideo in seconds,

  • @paulinvite

It's an atom class file server, not a core2duo. Electricity wise: 2 hours of a desktop class=24 hours of a netbook class.

The archos did it out of the box, with nothing else to configure, and no hardware requirement.

  • you can do the same thing with the Ipad, you can stream through airvideo in seconds,

  • the wide range of video formats and network streaming make a big difference for the video lover

  • #FAIL looks like you have a really slow computer.

  • @feffrey81

    Truth hurts eh?

If you can do better than 30 seconds, let me know.
