@daysoftomorrow it''s mounted on a regular flange-rimmed snare drum, but gives the sound of a rimshot off a wood-rimed snare drum. It's advantageous because wooden snares lose sensitive characteristics when played near the edge. I really don't know what it's called but I gotta get one!

just so you know, its actually a Remo Tunable Sound Shape, its essentially a marching snare with no shell. So it's easier to place in your set-up, or just set it on top of your floor tom like Jojo does here.

I've seen him use it before, but I can never get a clear answer on what it is. I'd love to know. You can see it clearly in all Jojo's camera shots starting around 3:15 and continuing on for the next few minutes. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

That's sad, Jojo and his band doesn't deserve that. He's unbelievable on drums, for sure, but I think he should focus more on DANCEABLE drumparts. In this case, less is more. Just my opinion.
