I have the vinyl. It is not really the original arrangement. But very well -perfomed, a nice version. Thank you for posting. Greetings from São Paulo, Brasil :)
Don't all Tom Cruise movies make you want to vomit? I'd put a cigarette out in my eye if they cast him as Steve McQeen. Leave his movies alone, the quiet cool of McQueen riegns eternal
I hope Hollywood doesn't add this movie to one of their remakes. The thought of Tom Cruise playing McQueens character would make anyone want to vomit!
I've got the CD (same cover pic as above), but this is different from the main title theme on my CD... Both are good tracks, but this one is streets better.. I love it.. Wish I could get a copy.. Thanks for posting
This is NOT the music used in the opening scene of the movie! It is a remake (I'm assuming for the OST) but it's NOT the same music, it's CLOSE, it's NOT identical. I'm watching the dvd and comparing it. The bassline is WAY off. I like the one from the movie a lot better. I wonder if there is a true copy of the original music available. One could rip it from the dvd, up to the point where the movie sounds start and mix it with this track to get a more complete version, I suppose...
As far as I know it was never planned to publish the score. But after that huge success they had to record it again and that is why there is a difference between the soundtrack and the afterwards score.
@SteveMcQueen0 Thanks for the info... I figured as much... It would seem simple for them to get ahold of the original music track used in the film before it was mixed with the gunshots and such. I guess perhaps that could not be done easily and/or they wanted to keep something special for the movie. Also perhaps they wanted to 'spice up' the OST. I for one like the original music much better. The opening piece sounds INCREDIBLE on my Sony Sur. Sys. OST is MUCH different.
@peterxmagic I care, because I wanted to hear the ORIGINAL music, as heard on the movie, not some grossly innacurate remake... If you ACTUALLY think that this piece is great, you should try listening to MINE... I'll send it to you...
@Starbuckin I think I prefer the one on the soundtrack. The bass is kind of darker and more free. The one in the movie sounds like it's being held back, but I do love the sound of the instrument in the movie.
@tankbuggeru Thanks for your comment... This one's not bad, but it's not the original, and I HATE the wierd guitar that starts at 0:17, it was never in the original... and the crazy reverberation sound that WAS in the original and so awesome, is missing here at :17... So... I remade it. Listen to my vid and tell me if you still like this one better. I'm sending it to you, friend...
@Starbuckin True, this is a re-recording done with the German WDR television orchestra. Recommended because it is very well done and contains tracks never used in the movie. If you like Bullit this album gives you 24 tracks of cool Steve Mc Queen! But it's not the orginal soundtrack. I also prefer the movie version.
Very fine indeed but for Me the Daddy is Bernard Herman But Mancini, morriconi, bernstien ,morose and many more did great film music and I have been privilaged to enjoy them all
No one else does it like this. For me, this is the best. I saw the movie from the back seat of my parents car at the drive-inn as a kid. I still remember feeling like I was in over my head when heard this song. The music really messed with my head.
Lalo Schifrin laying down cool jazz for the man who defined cool. I would have said it was impossible to match the McQueen persona with an appropriate musical theme. Schifrin not only did it, it only enhanced the coolness of Frank Bullitt. No one will ever transcend the McQueen coolness factor. Not even prospective Daniel Craig rumored to be tapped for the McQueen bio pic.
@DuvalDem Well I'd say Clint Eastwood gave McQueen a pretty dam good run for his money in 'Dirty Harry' wouldn't you agree? Daniel Craig should be tapped for the McQueen biography if theres one being made as his image is similar and also the way in which he acts.
reminds you of a pink panther cartoon...lol like the original though
