Aww those loops on the Steel Phantom look sexy. I grew up at Kennywood watching the navy blue trains fly through them, but I was still at an age where I was too nervous to ride, and I kick myself day in and day out for it. The Phantom's Revenge is AMAZING, and it is one of my favorite coasters, but I'd give anything for one ride on the original.

I've been on the phantoms revenge many times and after you go to cedar point it feels like the phantoms revenge should be in kiddie land. It is really slow. The new ride is going to be slow too.

@knexbox360 Clocked speed doesn't make the coaster. I've ridden many coasters and I think the the phantom is one of the most intense rides. Coasters like MF have great stats and are fun but Its a very predictible layout that you could fall asleep on after a few rides. The only negative part of the phantom is that it could be longer.

The Steel Phantom wasnt taken down for injuries per say, it was just a little too rough for comfort. For instance, you were required to take off your earings before you rode due to the excessive head banging.

the truth is they ruined a top 10 coaster by taking out the inversions and cork screws, i first rode the steel phantom in 94 and i was 8 at the time... sure it jerked u around alot but it was amazing and i rode it again and again, after they changed it to the revenge ive been on it once and that was it, it used to offer such a high level of excitement and now its mediocre and ive reverted back to just riding the wooden coasters. screw you kennywood for destroying this magnificent ride!!!!!

That is the best ride ever. I go there about 5 times evry summer, and ride that like 10 times each day. But God!!! The girl in that video should've jumped off the ride, she wouldn't shut the hell up!!! I hope she reads this and learns to shut up. But otherwise, sweet video.

I liked this ride a lot better when it was the "steel phantom" and it had loops and corkscrews in it. When they took those out I was disappointed.

Actually the original layout was supposed to have an underground tunnel, the phantom was supposed to surface on the midway but kennywood ran out of money and instead they altered the design to have it come up and go around the turtle. A few years after it was built, they made a concrete tunnel like structure around the phantom where it goes under the thunderbolt the second time.
