The Mayan calender was not a count down to Armageddon it was a highly advanced calender for ancient time that ran out of room. coincidentally the Mayan calender ends in 2012. When the calendar finally ends it doesn't mean the end of the world, it means that it is the end of the Mayan age. So it is something we should be celebrating!

This awakening will happen like the Mayans wrote. Knowledge will be increased from the extra solar radiation coming from the "tree of knowledge", shining through the dark rift or opening in the stars "flaming sword". Gamma rays in the lab when concentrated on the brain causes wild anomalies. There was even reports of people becoming "aware" or having the ability of insight, precognition, increased knowledge.
