  • No matter how good you are at something youll always find someone better on youtube

  • I currently have ez drummer with lots of expansions and im thinking about bying this one. My Questions:

    >Does it really sound better than the ezdrummer? Cause to me it sounds worse.

I mean they've added lots of effects lik eq s compressors etc. , but that's not how i like to get a good sound! I want the original samples to be good.

    >Can you load an ezdrummer kit in superior drummer and use it like before?

    >Is it worth buying if i don't need the effects and i don't use the ready grooves library?

  • @riqyl32 It's really up to you, most will say they prefer the sound of SD because you can tweak it a little more than EZD.

You can load EZD kits in SD :)

Again I'm afraid this one's up to you man. What I do is process them outside of EZD (or SD, i have both XD) cause' to me the effects included in SD are pretty lame. I use Stilllwell Audio vst's and the're amazing.

  • @samtheinsaneshred thanks mate !

  • And what do you do of you play in a club. Get real! Oh, you just stay in your bedroom?

  • is it possible to use these kits on a td20 or yamaha series kit?

  • @drummingtrumpeteer69 Yes - just use a midi to USB adapter cable (about 10 bucks) and connect your v-drums to the PC. Easy.

  • Hi Mickey,

let me ask you a question... I use alesis trigger io and Superior drummer + metal foundry on my Mac... I have low latency but in bfd2 I cant play because the latency kills me, hahaha.. so can I reduce latency with alesis io2? or only presonus will solve my latency problem?

    Thanks from Brazil!

  • can you make adjustment to the seperate kicks etc. using this method??

  • Latino bride search engine online now busizz4me.info

  • Hello Mikey, I'm not from English talking area, so could you please tell me what is the free program for latency called? I couldn't tell from a video how it is spelled. Thank you very much.

  • @NikolaDrobac Asio4all or Asio For All...

    .

    .

    Cubase is ugly!

  • @TERRANCIO

Yeah, thanks, already figured that out. :)

  • Just sounds crappy. Sorry. Nothing like a sweet properly tuned kit that's properly miked. Takes the same amount of time. Instead of hitting toms and getting a snare sound. Just sayin' :(

  • @tonycamino 8 months old comment but nevermind ;-)

True, assuming you have a tuned kit, microphones and a mixing desk to input all the mics into. I just need one USB cable. And with virtual drums, you can change drum sets with a flick of the dial... whereas you need to buy another kit. My V-Drums kit has 50 onboard kits and 50 empty slots for my creations... you'd need a warehouse to store your 100 kits... mine just take up the corner of my spare room... Juss sayin ;-)

  • @tonycamino And I don't need a soundproofing or a rented practice room to practice all day... ;-)

  • hi mikey very nice and informative tutorial=)but hey i gotta quick question..i just got my superior drummer 2.0and i noticed it comes with 5 disc do i have to install all 5 of them?im running cubase5 on my imac quad i5..so after the installation is it going to be on my vst plugins automatically? thank mikey please reply=)

  • @MikeyVPT i want connect my accoustic with triggers to my superior drummer to play live. What you recommend about triggers? And i need the Alesis Trigger IO and the Firebox presonus (whats the equivalent today since i cant find firebox, is it firestudio, dunno??

    tks

  • Am i the only one that noticed that the second tom rim is a snare sample and not a tom rim?

  • When you hit F11 and brought up your instrument guide, are the drum parts going to be separated like it would if Superior 2.0 was being used as a stand alone program? So if you want to mix the drum parts separately later can you do that when you use your kit as a midi?

  • Double bass? Some of you fail to realize the greatness of the mighty hi-hat. That's where all of the real power is. Nice video btw. This sounds just as good as Addictive from what I can tell.

  • Hey Mikey, help me out setting up my Trigger IO in Sonar 8, I'm gonna use S2.0. Please message me, btw RET is awesome :)

  • I like iron cobra new but I also like the iron cobra used. But which one is best? there's only one way to find out...

    fiiiiigghhhhhhhhhht!

  • awesome review

  • ai toca ruimm

    kkkkkkkkk

  • my main question is: can u record multitrack takes with sd2.0? So that u can edit it?

  • whats personas fire box?

  • @thispagesux He's mean PreSonus (I think)

  • i got this last week it rocks makes a v drum sound like cheap shit

  • im thinking about purchasing this prog. Do i need any other programs to make and save drumtracks?

  • @abushmetal im pretty sure you need a stand alone recording program, like hes using, cubase, or reason, or logic. i just got the program myself...good luck, cause it looks like a lotta stuff to learn

  • Hello :P

May I know what is your laptop specs? Alienware.

I heard that laptop running 8GB of DDR3 Ram, with 1 TB of HDD.

Is it a good laptop for recording/heavy VST/VSTi/Live Performance? ^^

  • Definitely!

  • how about the iron cobra jr??

  • I love it! Why do you ask? There are some really good Gibraltar double kicks on the Virtual Percussion Outlet site. Check it out, friend!

    -mikey

  • well because i want to buy a double pedal but i cant decide: iron cobra jr new or iron cobra used...any opinion?

  • Hmm... I do like my Jr. and I do like the full Iron Cobra. A new Jr. would be my pick, honestly.

    Hope that helped!

    -mikey

  • thanxs a lot man, but i really need info about the jr. cuz i want a fast double pedal and u know, whats the difference between the jr and the full iron cobra anyway?

  • @MikeyVPT NOOO junior's suck!

    get a used iron cobra!

  • my question is what kind of cymbal triggers are you using?

  • These are the original Smartrigger cymbals!

You can find more info at VirtualPercussionOutlet(.com) or Smartrigger(.com)

    -mikey

  • Hey Mike. Great work btw.

I have a question. I have a Yamaha DT express II, connected to a Tapco LINK.MIDI Interface. To be able to use it and record stuff to my pc, I have some latency. Installing asio4all will do the trick with my drumkit module and the SD2.0, or do I really need the Alesis I/O to reduce the latency? My pads have 2 hit zones and my ride has 3. On my pc i use nuendo and cubase, but I also bought a macpro and im using logic. Will SD2.0 work with logic? Cheers

  • Try asio4all first. All I know is that when I use MIDI cables, I have to set my buffer sizes to about 256. That seems to work really well.

    SD2 does work with Logic!

    -mikey

  • when you buy the alesis trigger IO does it come with the USB cable?

  • Yes, it does! And a power supply and BFD Lite, and a manual :-)

If you buy it at my store (Virtual Percussion Outlet) you also get it Pre-Loaded with software settings and MIDI maps!

    -mikey

  • nice pirated copy of sx 3!

  • Hahaha... what do you mean?! I use Cubase 5 now :-)

    -mikey

  • consider that he owns the store I highly doubt that he uses a pirated copy....oh an you're a retard idiot -.-

  • TRUE! But no need for name calling ;-)

    -mikey

  • How would Superior Drummer 2 and The Alesis trigger IO work with the ION series USb drum sets? Im considering buying a regular Drum Module because i cannot get the IOn drum set to work with any other software than the shit it comes with.. Cant even use a real sequencer..

  • Hi Mikey!

    Big fan!

So i just got my Presonus Firebox, and i hooked it up to my Roland TD-9kx via MIDI I/O, and i hooked the firebox to my computer via firewire.

So on the computer i have Reaper running, hosting Superior Drummer 2.0.

My computer is running vista, but that shouldn't be a prob

The thing is: i cannot get this to work! The little light on the firebox is flashing red and blue, meaning that "external sync not present"

Can you help me, since i really wan't this to work!

  • first you need to download the asio driver from the presonus website...download the right one that fits ur OS (XP, Vista 32 or 64-bit.etc.) after that...you wanna open up the firebox control panel...then select 41.1 sample with 2.0 ms latency...hope you have a fast computer and lotsa ram...you wanna right click the firebox control on the bottom right of ur task panel...change CPU usage to High if your comp is fast enuff...that should get you the best latency..if ur comp's slow then medium or low

  • dude i like this

i dont really need a roland TD-20 to get the sounds that I was looking for

what do my computer needs to have EZ drummer 2.0??

    sound card or something??

  • Thanks! Yeah, using the Roland stuff is so OLD school. All you need is a computer, the software, and a sound card (for latency).

You can get that at VirtualPercussionOutlet(.com)

    -mikey

  • how would this work with the alesis usb pro drumset?

does the program just recognize the triggers?

  • is this only works for the electronics drum????,,,because i own a acoustic drum,,,so can you comment ASAP!!!!!!!

  • It works BEST with electronic drums! The RET Percussion electronic drums are the only ones that are built specifically to work with software!

You can find more information at VirtualPercussionOutlet(.com)

    -mikey

  • I use Yamaha DtXpress iv and cubase yet without Superior Drummer and the when i play the drums and try to hear through cubase i cant hear few drums when i play on them. do you know how to solve it?

  • I'm using a low cost eletronic drum by Fame, and the hit hat sens is really bad, any ideas of a low cost hithat to replace that one? I'm not a drummer I just wanna speed up my song recording.

You spoke about asio4all, well it depends, if the card is onboard, usually doesn't have asio so you use kernel buffers and to me, I never get ZERO latency unless I'm doing something wrong :/

  • I would try the FD-8 pedal. It's a solid reliable pedal.

VirtualPercussionOutlet(.com) for that and the moving hi hat option!

    -mikey

  • fuck me good sound!

  • how laud are those cymbals?

    would it wake my family?

  • They aren't very loud, BUT they are about as loud as hitting a practice pad.

Not loud at all, but not as quiet as rubber. But the feel is outstanding!

    -mikey

  • does buying this kit means that you dont need to buy a brain for the kit? like Rolands and Yamaha has expensive brain included

sorry for my bad English but does your computer + SD2.0 becomes the kit's brain?

  • EXACTLY!!! You don't need to spend 2,000 dollars on a module, when you can get VPT Software for MUCH CHEAPER! Plus, the sounds are much more incredible.

You can find it at VirtualPercussionOutlet(.com)

    -mikey

  • wow!! thats just simply amazing!!

im so glad i watched this video

i was gonna waste a lot of money!

    thanks!

  • Hi, mikey

is it possible to use SD as a sound replacer?

  • You need to get a life.... and an acoustic kit!!

  • Hahaha... that was a good laugh, buddy!

No, but seriously. This IS my life! I make a living selling these drums, the software, the hardware, and getting paid to travel all over the US to demo.

And I actually have 75 gigs of acoustic drums, which I trigger on my RET kit. Thanks for the offer, though ;-)

    -mikey

  • well your passion for this stuff, educating yourself and others, and putting it all to practical use, is great and inspiring.

if you aren't already, i really hope you become very successful and wealthy :)

  • mikey just 'owned' you fool.

  • Hi! I am converting my acoustic drumset into a electronic dumset, and I will change my heads into mesh-heads, and then put triggers on them. Do I only need the Alesis trigger io and some cables between the triggers and the module, then a usb cable from the module to my computer? Have I got the gear I need then to be able to play some?

Ofcourse I need a program on my computer but I take that when I get there..

  • you should go to the v-drum forums. there are tons of threads about making acoustic drums into e-drums.

  • hey guys

i need some help on picking an electric kit and a cheap double pedal

    i live in australia

so yeah give us some help plz

    wb

  • The only international dealer of the BEST electronic kits is Virtual Percussion Outlet.

    Visit the website at: VirtualPercussionOutlet(.com)

The Stealth LE kit is the least expensive, and they have pretty cheap double bass pedals, too.

    -mikey

  • Nice demo,cool kit

  • Thank you, and thank you for the subscription!

    -mikey

  • quick question: i'm looking at double bass pedals and i love the iron cobras, but cant afford the real deal, so would you recommend the jrs or just a single iron cobra?

  • I have a Cobra Jr. and it's nice. If you're on a budget, check out my site. We've got some really nice strap drive double and single bass pedals at AWESOME prices!

    VirtualPercussionOutlet(.com)

    -mikey

  • wow, thanks for the quick reply. and i'll be sure to do that

  • Does anyone know how to fix the hi-hat articulation in cubase SX3? I had the exact same problem in toontrack solo until I selected both "E-drums" and "cc offset" in the MIDI>controllers menu. The problem is the same menu is not available when you open superior 2 in cubase. Is there any way to access those same menus?

  • Nice... I love 2.0.. I've been triggering through a TD-12kv for the most part.. I still use the roland onboard sounds a lot because of the way it works..

check out the one video on my channel if you have some time and let me know what you think of the sound..

I could use some 2.0 setup advice on the td12 if you have any - big problem is minimal but noticeable latency....... ;)

    Cheers Mikey

  • Do you have to assign the individual drums to the software, or will superior drummer automatically assign your physical snare to it's virtual snare etc.

  • You can use the "learn" function to assign virtual instruments within Superior Drummer 2.0 to your physical RET drums.

It's easy! Check out my newest video on my channel, and keep an eye out for a few more that will detail how to use the "learn" function!

    -mikey

  • i prefer trigers with alesis on acoustic kit with the rest mic'd elec kits make you a slack drummer.

  • Hehehe... you've never played an RET Percussion kit before, eh?

RET kits all have real heads on them, but without the noise of an acoustic kit. That way, you have the benefit of using real drum heads, you can trigger software, and you can be fairly quite while doing it!

    -mikey

  • Hey Mikey,

I bought me a Alesis Trigger io myself i was wondering how did you setup your Hihat on your trigger io?

  • Which software are you using?

If you're using SD2.0, just go to the bottom right corner, find the hi hat, and the open cymbal articulation, select that, hit the learn button, then hit the open hi hat cymbal. Then do the same for the closed pedal sound. Then step on the pedal when you hit the learn button.

    Does that help?

    -mikey

  • Hi mikey,

    awesome stuff,pretty amazing!

Ive got some question on my mind.

1)Is the 2.0 good for live performances?

2)Can you create patches(banks) with the Alesis IO,with different drum setup?

3)Is it possible to take individual outputs to an external mixer(live setups) eg

Channel 1.kick,2.Snare,3.Toms,4.Percussions,for a balanced stage feel?

4)Is it possible to assign Percussion loops(start-stop) to any of the pads?

    Sebastian..

  • 1) YES!

    2) YES!

    3) YES!

    4) YES!

Check out VirtualPercussionOutlet(.com) for more info. Make sure you subscribe to these videos because I have another series coming out dealing with all of your questions!

  • i am thinking about getting the iron cobra jr. double pedal. do you like it? why is is only 200 and the other iron cobra's are around 320

  • Really, the only difference I know of is that the full Iron Cobra has a round cam shaft, and fewer screws, which is supposed to make it smoother and quieter.

If it doesn't matter to you, and you're on a budget or have little space for a double pedal, go for the Jr. If not, go for the full size.

    -mikey

  • can i use the alesis io2 for the latency problem?

  • well i have the full size and it is much better than the jnr. it is much more adjustable, smoother more balance allot more heavy duty than the jr and i find it easier to do heal-toe on them. i thing the powerglide is the best pedal on the market that isnt too pricey

  • How did you get a ZERO latency? I cant believe! I'am using e-mu 1616m sound card, but i have latency, while i'am playing. And the other damn thing - the samples from s2.0 sounds quiet then i'am playing on my roland td-12. then i just click on the drums in s2.0 all is good. What's wrong? Help me, please!

  • Hmm... could be your settings in the module causing your sounds to be quiter?

The latency could just be an issue with setting up your buffers with your sound card.

Let me know what kind of control panel your sound card has.

    -mikey

  • Zero latency monitoring is only for audio passed through the inputs. You can route it directly to your output, bypassing the computer. VST latency can be really good depending on your setup, though.

One thing I did that drastically reduced my latency/dropouts (in XP) was:

    Go to System Properties/Advanced/Performance Settings/Advanced

Change "Processor Scheduling" to "Background Services" and "Memory Usage" to "System Cache"

You can always change that back. Hope it helps!

  • Good advice. Latency can be good for your particular computer as you can't have less latency than your computer can handle, thus, giving you dropouts and more latency!

    Good advice, spin.

    -mikey

  • Restaurant stuff?! Awesome.

    Try ASIO4ALL

    That'll do it!

    -mikey

  • MikeyVPT.

I've got every single peace of your gear, except for the FireBox.

How would you Connect the Gear?

Is the USB Cable alone enough to do the trick?

    Grtz

    Wim

  • Hmm... you have an RET kit, also? Which one?!

All you do is connect the drums/cymbals to the Trigger Io, then USB from that to your computer. Then inside your software, make sure you select the Trigger Io as your MIDI in.

You will most likely experience latency, so try downloading the ASIO4ALL driver, then select it as your audio driver. Google it and download the latest Beta.

Also, visit my site: VirtualPercussionOutlet(.com) for more info and products that will help you!

    -mikey

  • The Alesis Trigger Io is just a Drum to MIDI interface that lets you trigger the software on your computer.

You can't save .wav files to the Io.

    Does that make sense?

    -mikey

  • Yes it does. Thanks lot. It made my purchase alot easier.

  • The real question would have been: will it work well ;-)

    Good luck, Thade418!

  • Hey I have a question. Lets say I get the Alessis drum kit and it has this trigger I/O and I get the superior drummer program, would I be able to save the drum sounds I have created with SD, and save it on the module? Or would I have to always have the kit connected to the program through the computer? Thanks.

  • hi, im in process of setting up my home studio and would like to get a bit more into triggering, ive never done it before so my question is, how do you assign the drum sounds from ezdrummer into a drum module?

  • Awesome!

Basically, if you can change the MIDI note numbers in your module, then you'll map it to EZdrummer. Does that make sense? Like your snare is MIDI note number 41 for example. Then in your module, you'd assign the snare drum to that note number.

I hope that helps. I would consider getting the Alesis Trigger Io from my store if you don't have control of the MIDI notes.

    VirtualPercussionOutlet (.) com

    Thanks!

    -mikey

  • Cool, yeah that makes sense, ive recently bought most of the recording gear i need, mixer, cubase etc... but the next step is triggering equipment. Anyway, thanks for your time, keep up the good work!

  • is there a groove library on S20? If so, how can I access it?

  • I don't use the grooves, but if you have any of the EZX's they all have a groove library.

    -mikey

  • I just heard of Superior Drummer 2.0. Can I use it as module? For example, I get the midi's from SD 2.0 and use them on my e-drum.

  • Sure! That's what I do. I have it installed on my computer, then I plug my drums into the Alesis Trigger Io. I trigger the software with my drums.

    Does that help?

    -mikey

  • Yes, it did! Thanks ;D

  • I use Mac OSX 10.5.5. Can i use garage band until i get Superior Drummer 2 for my drum sounds?

  • You can use whatever you want. I would use SD2 once you get it. It's much better. Are you using an electronic kit?

    -mikey

  • yes i use a Alesis Usb pro kit, with my mac book with 4 gigs of ram.

  • hi mikey i been watchin all your videos luv them!!

i got a question for ya!! can i use just the alesis trigger i/o and fl studio as software?

i mean without usin superir.. ezdummer or any of these.. i hav the froot loops studio software and i wanna use the samples there can i?

  • I'm not sure. As long as FL has the sounds assigned to MIDI notes, then yes, you can trigger them. Otherwise, you would have to get some sort of drum software.

Thanks for watching! You've been a really great support :-)

    -mikey

  • mikey why didnt u get back to me.. still no zero here and all and all the fire box was a waste of money my tone port has better latency then this fire box and the only reason i got it cause u said zero latency . that ok tho i like wastein 300 bucks on something that dont work lol .. thanks anyway

  • Hey sorry about that, I'm usually good about getting back to people.

You're going directly into the firebox with your module? As long as you have the Firebox driver selected in whatever program you're using, you should be fine. I don't go directly into the Firebox, I go into my pc from my Trigger IO, then I have my Firebox hooked up separately and selected as my audio driver.

Does this make sense? I have had nothing but a fantastic experience with the Firebox.

    Let me know!

    -mikey

  • I think people misunderstand the latency thing.BFD or Superior are all ASIO which has nothing to presonus' zero-latency thing.

Things to consider as latency is your MODULE brain latency (f.e Yamaha DTX has 4ms)MIDI note itself lasts 1ms(!)Also MIDI interface is extremely important-get decent one.Audio card latency is the last step of overall latency.Total latency is a summary of: convert drumhead to digital(your module)->then to midi note->to PC via MIDI interface->BFD processing->audio card.

  • Exactly. The FireBox has no latency itself, but the overall VPT system has maybe 1ms overall. It's FAST.

    -mikey

  • Firewire audio interfaces will always have latency dependent on the host application buffer size. Zero latency advertising is about the interface it's self splitting the *analog* signal at the input before the A/D converter and usually using software to mix (in the interface) the original pre A/D sound to the outputs. Most midi on/off switches have a ~7ms latency. This really cannot be noticed by any ear. So Presonus or crap interface when using midi with low host buffers=0 latency

  • Thank you sir! Loving your videos!

    -mikey

  • hey Mikey, just for the record,I'd be more than happy to drum like you!

  • Hahaha... thanks :-)

I do what I can. You can only please some of the people some of the time. You catch more bees with honey than with vinegar. Umm... I can't think of any more cliche's ;-)

    Thanks again, dude!

    -mikey

  • You rock. THanks. The drumskills are not the best, but YOu know it too. YOur vids ARE VERY INFORMATIVE, thanks a lot%

  • Thanks for the comment. What are you trying to say? I'm not the best drummer in the world?!?!?!

    Thanks for watching!

    -mikey

  • Super informative. I appreciate this good information, By the way Ace playing!

  • Thanks a lot! I do my best!

    -mikey

  • hey nice video, just wondering how to use the nir-z midi files. Every thing is set up and workin in sx3 but i cant seem to find the midi section. anyhelp would be mucho appreciated.

  • no worries i found the ez player

  • ok buddy i got the fire boxs all because of u .. and your clam to zero latency.. well it say i still have 2.0 msec ... low as 1.5 no zero here. is it because of my td 9 roland.. or is a setting wrong please help...

  • Did you get my messages?

  • haha big deal 2msec haha....

  • Hey! We all know that 2ms is Nothing, but if you can get it down to .5ms, why not?!

    -mikey

  • Im thinking about going VPT. What is the best software to start with? I like Metal and Prog rock:}

  • VPT is definitely the way to go.

What I would suggest is maybe starting with EZdrummer and the Drums From Hell expansion. I think you'll really like it! Have you checked out my DFH video?!

Also, if you really enjoy EZD, I would highly suggest upgrading to Superior Drummer 2.0. It's got much more control, AND you can use the EZD expansions within it! It's awesome.

    Thanks again for the comments!

    -mikey

  • love your style..

  • I appreciate that comment.

    -mikey

  • Nice Mikey! Love the vid. That would be a fun softwhere to have!

  • This software is GREAT. Thank you for the comment!

    -mikey

  • Hey mikey, im having some trouble saving an edit articulation in SD2. I set the crash mute in sd2 to edit articulation, then move then volume slider down to zero. so this allows me to mute the cymbal. but then there is no way for me to save this preset? other then to save the entire project, which is not what i want to do? is this a bug? any ideas?

  • I will check it out this weekend and get back to you. I've only just saved my whole project, but there might be a way to save that as a Preset.

How are you liking SD2 besides that? I'm loving it!

    -mikey

  • Glad to hear your enjoying it mikey! your videos keep getting better, keep up the good work! You've helped alot of us.

As for SD2 man I love it! I've been a using toontrack products since the original DFH a few years back. when it was just a bunch of wav files lol! And man have they come a long way since then.

thanks for looking into that for me man..I appreciate it.. no rush though

  • thanx for the asio4all tip... that made my laptop usable for remote editing.. so i dont have to bring my motu everywhere as well.... Really a cool tip man thank you!!!

  • Mikey is a genius.

  • About the Latency...Im using an Mbox1 and also my computers internal sound card. I can use toontrack on the internal sound card and i still have bad latency. Are you sure that a firewire box would work better?

and how do you use Asio4all? I tried it and dont understand how to use it with my Mbox.

    Thanks Mikey

    Zpaul

  • Basically,

You would use your external soundcard INSTEAD of your internal computer card. The FireBox is AMAZING! It cuts my latency to less than 2ms.

Also, if you use Asio4All, it does the same thing as the FireBox... it replaces your on-board soundcard.

Within your software/DAW, you should be able to select your Audio Driver. Make sure you have either you Mbox, the Asio4All driver, or whatever else you use as your audio driver.

    Make sense?

    -mikey

  • What's up Mikey. Excellent setup, excellent drumming, great post. I too have been jamming with a similar setup. Cubase SX3, my Alesis kit and Alesis io(it'll do for now) and ez drummer (soon to be SD 2.0).

Quick question though. For all of us wanting to optimize realistic feel and sound, what do you have all your parameters set to in the IO?

  • Thanks a trillion for the comments!

I would LOVE to share my settings, but I'm actually contracted NOT to. RET Percussion worked very hard on those settings and can't really give them out.

Are you going to put up some videos? I'd like to see your setup!

  • Hey man i was just wondering if u could do a video of your iron cobra jrs? or if you could just tell me about they because ive been wondering if i should get them or not?

    Thanks man

    Nice video by the way

  • i wear a size 11 shoe, are the cobra jr pedals long enough to comfortably support my feet before I go buy 1?

  • I would think so. I play heel up, and it fits great for just the tips of my feet or the entire ball.

I would say that it would be fine. Especially if you can find a good deal!

  • ok, thanks for the info

  • i have the alesis dm5 kit which has that sound moduole ,

how do i hoolk it up to my PC , is there a setting i have to put on the sound module or something so it doenst play sound out of it

    is there any latency?

  • If the Alesis module has a MIDI or USB out, then you would use that.

Other than that, you would select your module as your MIDI input and whatever software you have as your output.

    Does that help?

  • is the cobra double bass jr good for metal drums as in double bass rolls and such? cause im considering getting one.

  • A pedal i find very underated is the mapex janus twin pedal! One of the best ive used! But if you're going for a cobra, you may aswell skip the junior and get the real deal. Be a worthy investment in the long run! I am currently using a big dog twin pedal and to be honest i regret it so word of advice, dont buy one of those lol!!

  • oh well cause well see the jr. cobra is about $300-400 cheaper than the real cobra. im just looking for something besides my shitty DW 5000's...

  • I'm loving my Jr. It's the perfect size it seems... a good idea, and very solid. I've had it for years, and I've never regreted getting it!

    Thanks for the comment!

  • 5 stars for sure. What's next after the SD2 videos?!

    Really informative.

  • Awesome videos! I've watched a lot of your videos. Very knowledgeable. I'm building a home studio and I would want a RET kit but it costs way too much for me. My ideal setup would be 3 crash, 1 china, 1 hihat, 1 ride, 4 toms, a snare and of course a bass drums. but do you know if there is a trigger I/O that can handle all that stuff in the market yet? thanks.

  • Thanks for commenting!!!

I know that you CAN use multiple Trigger IO's. I'm hoping to do that soon.

Dude, that's a huge kit you're talking about! I mean, all of the RET drums are dual zone, so I end up putting a lot of cymbals and side-stick samples on the rims.

    Hahaha... but go for it!

  • Thanks for the reply. Dual zone huh? does that mean it uses 2 inputs? or just more sensitive?

  • ithink dual sound is where you get 2 sounds from the cymbal so you hit the bell of the cymbal you have one sound hit the edge of the cymbal you get another

  • Dual zone is when you have the ability to have two samples from one piece. Like having a tom sample on the head, and a splash cymbal sample on the rim of that tom.

It's all just one (stereo) input :-)

    Awesome, yes?!
