What about the theory that a 'mother universe' gave rise to many universes?

Everytime a new theory, or a new idea or understanding arises, those with faith naturally enhance their view of "God" so that he is beyond these new understandings. From a simple giant fire cloud able to plague a nation, to a omniverse maker of the multiverse.

One angle never explored it seems is what if "god" was simply a single being that perhaps created this world, but as powerful as it is, is simply unaware of things above its self so assumed it did (simular notion explored by Gnostics).
