I am a violist and Iove my viola I was a violinist but there was a very big need for violas and I wanted to fill in those gaps for needed violas. I grown alot as a violist and I am grateful that I had made that step in my life as becoming a violist anyways... you rock

how do people do trills that fast?

take the two notes in question and practice them in rhythms with the metronome.  First try a dotted eighth tied to a sixteenth. (first note held for the dotted eighth note/2nd note played on the 16th note) Try this with maybe 6 tempos:

Quarter note=40,60, 80,100,120,140

Then switch the rhythm to 16th note attached to a dotted eighth and practice the same tempos every day.
