loved this as much as my ex wife ( Scots ) loved Amhrán na bhFiann (Irish ) , when we watched rugby , religion , race , and colour was irrelevent , it was just country , wish all sport was as understanding ?
@17DJLOVER So insults seem to make you feel better about yourself. Sad. You also missed the point about this anthem, at this game, in 1990 - it was a powerful moment in Scottish history, which added to the move to separate it from English hegemony, and, finally, a Scottish parliament.
I wish we had something so wonderful to sing as Australia's national anthem.
I used to hate it when we were forced to sing God Save the Queen. Instead we end up with Advance Australia Fair (shlock song that one).
Heads up, chests out, not a drop of hair gel, not a 'sports psychologist' to be seen, no fancy latex suits. Just stand there, belt out the national anthem and get into the opposition.

we just don't get that crowd getting into the anthem here in the US.
eisenkreuzmusik 2 years ago
@eisenkreuzmusik Shame. At sporting events liek the football and rugby in Britain, we often really get stuck into our anthems.
BryanAJParry 1 year ago
@BryanAJParry I wouldn't call that getting stuck. US crowds are very respectful and loving of our anthem, but its not in our culture to sing along
eisenkreuzmusik 1 year ago
@eisenkreuzmusik I don't think you really understand me. "To get stuck into something" means to really get involved in it.

@semperfimamba If you want atmosphere, you should check this one out: "watch?v=awositUJYLM". It's from a "soccer" game between Celtic and Barcelona.
