Completely wrong, in fact several universities in the 90's were busted for a minority gifting system where they gave bonus points on admission applications based on race with whites receiving none. Also, affirmative action has been around for quite some time and has made it easier for minorities in this area. It's about will. And yes I would assume someone who's been poor their entire life to want to make something of themselves.

Actually I still disagree, In fact I think that is being touted as an excuse. I would easily argue that pro rata more blacks are anti-white than whites are anti-black. How did blacks get put in the position they are right now? Did someone hold guns to your heads and force it? What about affirmative action? It's not the 1910's anymore. I would argue that people are scared into hiring people that are colored over fear of being accused of racism if they don't-even if they are less qualified.

Affirmative Action states that companies must employ 4/5ths as many minorities as whites, this includes females to male ratio. If a company hires from a labor pool and 70 whites apply, 5 blacks, 5 mexicans, etc., they can only interview/hire 5 whites for every 4 of them or they are committing discrimination. This in of itself makes getting a job far easier and supports my get off your ass attitude

And as far as any group of people being in that same situation, many cultures/races are just as poor or poorer. Tell me, what did you want to be growing up? A doctor or a rapper? A lawyer or a sports player? My point is that jobs require skills which require education or training. That education could be free depending on how poor you are. So the opportunity is there but you have to do the work, nobody can do it for you and you can't get a good job without it. It's about perspective/culture.
