  • Is there diffrent type of grease or just main grease for all jobs?

  • @BooMers232 There is brake and bearing grease for this application. If you go to etrailer(dot)com and look under the 'Accessories' Tab, click on 'Tools', you will see all of the grease we have available. Let me know if you have any other questions. I would be glad to help!

  • Great video, it was very helpful. What if there is not washer between the castle nut and the outer bearing?

  • @boatbros23 We have a number of replacement washers for your setup. If you visit etrailer(dot)com and search for spindle washers, you can see the different ones we offer and determine which one will work for your setup. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

  • @etrailertv Thanks, I will order some washers to install. I accidently got a dent in my trailer axle where the outside bearing sits. I sanded it down a bit but it is still there. I put everything back together and the wheel spins perfectly, should I still be concerned? Does the bearing spin around the axle or does it just stay snug and the outer part spins with the hub?

  • @boatbros23 It sounds like you had a failed bearing that gouged your spindle. You should probably take it to a shop and let them determine if the spindle needs to be replaced, just to be on the safe side.

  • Well done, but what if it isn't in such good shape?

  • @rsbkh There's always a possibility you will end up having to replace certain parts of your setup. If you can get the numbers off of the bearings or races or seals or whichever part you think may need to be replaced, I can help you find what you need on our website, etrailer(dot)com.

  • There shouldn't be a lock washer of any sort on a standard spindle. One washer as they show to hold the entire assembly in it's proper location. You definitely don't want a lock washer between your bearing and nut. If you have no hole for a cotter pin to retain your bearing nut, I don't believe you have a safe axle/spindle.

  • no lock washer or pin on my rear axle bolt ... how tight do i go with bolt?

  • @BAKARDAN When tightening the castle nut, you will want to tighten it down a bit and then make sure the bearings spin freely. Next, snug down the castle nut. Make sure the bearings can still spin freely but that there is no up-and-down or back-and-forth play on the hub. Last, while the castle nut is snug, back it off just enough until the cotter pin can slide through. I hope this helps. Let us know if you have any more questions.
