Most people think they are deformed with bowed legs. I think it's down to evolution. If you have straight legs then a lot of energy is forced on the knees when walking/ running. Maybe bowed legs absorb this energy to protect the knees. Also a flex action can improve sprinting by giving you an extra spring. Also it makes you shorter and can gove you a lower centre of gravity to make to more agile.

@thekingofoakland it doent give you height, it correct the alignment of your joint. I have it and am very active, and I have ALOT of knee problem due to it. If it were corrected I wouldnt be held back by injurie caued by bad alignment.

It depends on severity of the problem and personal likes and dislikes, too. Someone likes bow legs look, some are not - but what's more important - what patient thinks about it himself or herself, how it feels being bowlegged.

Many patients with severe bow legs one day cannot go on being active, running, walking for long, etc.

Wow, I am WAY more bow legged than she is. You can fit an average nail polish bottle between my knees when my ankles touch. It makes stretching in certain positions very uncomfortable. Or attempting Chinese splits really KILLS me, but I can do right & left. People recognize me by it though, I find it very unique though it is a birth defect.

The surgery was done when I was 19 or 20. Long time ago. I am 35 yrs old now. I have been left with a horrible scar on my knee. Also my legs are still bowed.
