I noticed that his website baguazhangzhangjie went down recently, does that mean that he's left the area or isn't teaching anymore? I was about to go see if I could set up some lessons with him...
I have his book too. I'm looking foreward to the 2nd book which will have the forms and sword set as well. But there's too much of the book wasted on history in my view. It could have been better used to show some more changes or forms applications. Just my 2 cents.
Great stuff - you can see Zhang is a master of the Bagua body method.
Given this I was really disappointed with his book - which really says nothing of substance about Bagua practice, just gives the "party line" about Chinese Culture and chi. I really hope that he will share his knowledge of more readily in the future!
I just bought the book a week ago and found it to be very good. It's a book on basics and is devoted more to principles than to specific techniques. Maybe subsequent books will have more of what you were specifically looking for, but this book will still be an invaluable reference for studying the deeper principles underlying the style.
This is the most beautiful presentation of a martial arts form, including the music, that I've ever witnessed. This video sets a high standard in more than martial arts. Mr. Zhang thank you for this great gift!
I really liked this. You see, maybe it's because of my Wing Chun background, but I tend to have a high horse in my own approach to this martial art/science of stillness achieved through movement.
the song is 'Remembering an Old Friend' by Wu Ziying

he just did not know the site was going to expire, he'll get it back up soon.
he's an excellent teacher, I wish I was still in WA to study with him regularly.

Anyone know the name of this song?
BUCKDOWNZ 2 years ago
The song is called
Remembering an Old Friend
It's played on the Gu Qin (I may have spelled this wrong)
don't know who wrote it originally, or who played it.

Thanks Richard, I found it on itunes, and yes Gu Qin is correct.
