Awesome. I love the shots in the snow. Does anyone know who owns the yellow gondola at 1:23? I can't see any reporting marks on it. Maybe it's a non-interchangeable Norfolk Southern MOW car? Anyone know?
For South-Central Pennsylvania it is a decent amount. This winter in Vermont, we got an accumulation of a good 4 feet around February, with the heaviest snowfall being about 30 inches in one shot.
That's because I'm in a parking lot for most of the shots where it is plowed away, in the rural shots you can tell there is a lot of snow on the ground. Or maybe open your eyes, that will help too.
Great video. I've never been to USA but I love US railroads, especially the north-eastern ones. Nothing beats a heavy freight blasting through the snow. Keep up good work.
Great work braveing the snow! Ice looks good on dem' black units! My first favorite in several months! Thanks for finially being the one to bring me back into the spirit of things!
Thanks for braving the elements on this one and getting some shots from this storm passing over you guys. I'm sure it wasn't quite as comfortable as a summer shoot.
Also, very nice work with the panning & telephoto through out the video. That's never an easy thing to do and make it look as seemless as you did. Well done.
Haha what happened, afraid to move the car once you got to Richland? :P Nice vid, a reminder of what footage I'm NOT going to shoot this weekend, I picked the WRONG day weekend to come home from Boston, I could have had a field say in the snow with the yellow nose this weekend. Oh well.
wow, great footage! one of the best snow videos out there. Its just starting to get that bad weather wise here, tomorrow morning may have something to offer railfan wise
Outstanding video as usual! I'm astounded, though,by the fact that you kept the snow out of your lens. All day I had to keep a towel nearby because snow kept getting into the lens cavity. Awesome catch on 2100 and (my) 5290! ;-) Wonderful footage
Well, I had to wipe it down between shots. If it were up to me, I would have filmed from the back seat of the car, but there was no way I was going to try to take the car out because the roads weren''t plowed, so I took the truck. I'm going to try to get more today, but I am currently snowed in... Thanks for watching!
What I meant is while you were shooting -- the whole train went by and not a flake hit your screen. You didn't do any type of modification to the camera to keep snowflakes away? And I'm trying to go out today, too. Stay safe n Happy Railfanning!
I mean I wiped the lense with a lense-safe wipe between all scenes. Usually snow doesn't get in except for stack trains, TOFC cars blow a lot of wind. Usually when the power goes by, that also blows snow. Plus, if a few small drops get on my lense the auto-focus doesn't pick it up, it has to be a significant amount of build-up to be able to see it, some parts were actually ruined, so I edited it out.
Why was there a switcher engine on the train at 7:05?

It looks like it is or was a BCIX gondola. BCIX = Blue Circle Incorporated.

@o00o00ozy Oh thanks a lot. You don't see those Blue Circle cars around much.

At 0:58, the speed of the leading unit's ditchlights changed! Is this common? Or could it be just from a cold connection in the wires?
