I have the same theme, when I first used it, I really liked it, and I use the default wallpaper too.
One of my favorite things about the newer graphical versions of linux, is how I can move through the filesystem graphically, while using the terminal for using administer tools. That's always how I mount drives and what not.
wow, you cant be muture about what he said and you didn't say it was your hardware so how was he suppose to know. We all cant see the world like you do. And compiz works fine on mine. Its kinda a lil choppy when i move a window around its prbly since i have only 512 MB of ram so im gonna buy 2 GB of ram so i dont get ram fill ups.
still, ubuntu 8.10 is not ready for the masses, there are a lot of hardware compatibility problems, if you are an average pc user " 8.10 " is not for you,but if you can deal with re- installation, commands, and forum searching , when ubuntu crashes then you'll be able to use ubuntu ibex, otherwise stay with windows.
is ubuntu as easy to use as windows xp .i heard that in linux based systems it involves commands and code typing. can you give me details about ubuntu in comparison to windows .thanks in advance.
If you don't have patience, your doomed. Research your stuff first and keep checking out videos. The first 2-3 hours are gonna be confusing or annoying. Though the end result is worth it.
Your talking about the desktop showing up after installation? Yeah it appears, though I don't remember entering any code. All it asks is for your user name and password that you give before the installation. It's really just like a 30 minute wait till it's installed. Then like another wait for patch updates. After all that, your basically done. Hoped that solved your question.
Well I think I can't, It's called rotation right? cause in my screen settings thing it says "rotation not available", I can't find anywhere where it says settings.

I tried to install ubuntu 8.10 and the only way I could make the live cd to work was to use safe graphics mode or some shit like that, past version work fine though, I've been reading about that and it seems there is a bug and compiz is the thing to blame, any advice?
Compiz will work, I have 8.10 and compiz installed and working fine. In fact, the wobbly windows, and other effects, are Compiz. You just need to install compizconfig-settings-manager to get the advanced config menu. You also have to be sure that you have the drivers for your video card installed. I like that you are promoting Linux, and giving reviews and talking about it, but please do a little bit of research before saying that something, is or is not possible.
that is why I said that you have to be sure you have the drivers for your video card, and that your video card can handle Compiz, if you have an old, low power graphics card, you are not going to be able to run Compiz, but for most ppl, who have a fairly modern machine, as long as the drivers are installed properly, which is quite easy with the restricted drivers manager build into Ubuntu, you should be able to run Compiz with no issue.
ubuntu just refuses to install in a partition, tried the wubi, making a partition in vista, making a partition in the installation set-up, just won't work
compiz did actually take alot of tweeking to get my 8.04 to use compiz, but i allways prefer installing it clean tho. so i'll try it with the live cd first, don't see a point in useing it now anyway. but if i will use it, then i'll do a clean install, got some OLD config files in my /home also that screws my system up
I upgraded on the day it came out. Its a excellent release, i think its the best release (7.10 was my favourite, up to now). I use Xubuntu, sadly no new version of Xfce, but it is alot faster. Also Xorg is far better now, my performance on my ATi card has doubled!
