If you like superhero teams check out this book by E.L. Randolph called The Razor's Edge book 1 Strength In Unity. Its freakin unreal how this team is created and even more crazy how it ends!
sweet stan im your biggest fan i love how u have a small scene in all your wonderful marvel movies spider man 1,2,3 xmen 1,2,3,4 and in hulk and iron man keep it going stan peace
It's great to know more about Stan "The Man" Lee. But one thing's for sure. Stan Lee, Steve Ditko, and fans of Spidey (I'm 1 of them) are irritated by your spelling. It's Spider-Man with a hyphen! Not Spiderman. Get it right next time. Thanks.
It's nice to hear Stan Lee talk about his personal heroes; unfortunately, Errol Flynn was a horrible person in real life. He was an unprosecuted rapist. He raped a young woman, she reported it to the police, the evidence was there, but because he was a famous actor, they refused to investigate it. She wound up having a nervous breakdown and spent time in a mental institution for depression. This was all documented by FBI agents at the time and is public record. Flynn was a monster.
@OrmEmber Oh, you were there? He raped her? She was not mentally unstable before she "met" Errol? Come on. Haven't we learned from the Michael Jackson nonsense that anyone can make-up anything about anyone? Maybe Errol was not prosecuted because it was false to begin with? Just saying.
man... what a way to be inspired. amazing stuff. i love hearin stan lee talk, hes over 80 but hes still with it, still got as much enthusiasm as a 20 yr old. awesome.
An example would be Mephisto who is a 100% Stan Lee villian and is somewhat memorable and is still used by Marvel these days, Although IMHO he falls way short of Dr Doom Galactus Darksied and other Kirby villians,
Lee created a couple of classic Spider Man villians ala The Kingpin & The Rhino,
But he also made alot more like Man Mountain Marko
& The Kangaroo who haven't IMHO stood the test of time like the Lee/Ditko Spider Man villians.

Plus Steve Ditko had a hand in Spider Mans stories as well as providing the artwork and establishing the mood,
Why don't you tell me one villian Stan came up with apart from The Kingpin and The Rhino who could measure up to ones like Doc Ock, The Green Goblin and others he and Ditko (Mainly Ditko IMHO) thought up?

Sorry but Jack Kirby was just as responsible for the Marvel universe as Stan if not more so, He plotted The Fantastic Four, Thor, Captain America, while Stan did the dialog Not to mention Steve Ditko who was just as responsible for Spider Man as Stan.
I love Stan The Man but he's always been something of a glory hound.
You're not the only one....I truly know how you feel....long live Stan "the man" Lee...and long live his dreams and those standards that come from those dreams....
Errol Flynn was a dumb monkey.

How can you not love Stan? He's always so upbeat and positive, plus the characters he created & co-created were the heroes I grew up with.
I always thought that Stan's had his artists fashion Tony Stark to look like Errol Flynn. Now I'm my really sure he did.
sachaput 2 years ago 10
Good observation, also Stark was heavily based on Howard Hughes.

JACK KIRBY MADE MARVEL... Stan wrote dialogue for Jack(mostly), Ditko and Everett's characters. Stan was, however, THE BEST AT WHAT HE DID.

The Fantastic Four were created by Lee and Kirby,
Spidey, Lee and Ditko The Sub Mariner Bill Everett in 1939, Daredevil Lee and Wally Wood,
Galactus and Thor were created by Lee and Kirby,
Plus Jack Kirby was the one who came up with the idea of the FF, Galactus, and Thor as characters.

jack kirby created silver surfer
MasterExploder6 4 years ago 4
Yeah Kirby's concept of The Surfer was somewhat different than what Lee did with him,
There was no 'Zen La' or 'Norrin Rad' in Kirby's
original conception of the character,
The Surfer was supposed to have been created by Galactus, He wasn't originaly a being from another planet that Galactus turned into the Surfer,
This was a real point of contention between Lee and Kirby.

Stick it laughing boy,
Jack Kirby was responsible for most of Marvel comics sucess,
And Marvel treated him like shit for the rest of his life,
Not getting into the fact that Marvel tried to basically steal his original art.
Not that Lee's purple prose didn't have it's own place in establishing Marvel, But without Kirby there wouldn't even be a comic book industry.
