  • Anyone know the name of the song?

  • do they sell this in sydney

  • Menudo pepinazo!!!!!

  • do they come in 4 motion?

  • how can they make so ugly one beautiful legend

  • anybody know the name of this song?

  • What is this song please?

  • This video is very good!

  • I miss the flowers and Peace signs.... Man.

  • The Cadillac Seville was never sold in Spain, does anybody else see the irony in this?

  • @sparmtacus You couldn't fir a seville on a road in seville. Gas guzzling American shit not welcome in Europe my friend. Where as the VW isn't available in North America because they want you to keep USING gas guzzling crap, instead of efficient Clean Diesels.......

  • @sparmtacus Yeah..... the Volkswagen California is not name Californe.

  • Your home is where you are . Unless you live in California , the state . :P

  • I saw this thing in a Berlin showroom 4 years ago! WTF I don't understand why they won't bring this thing to the states again!

  • @onecreative1

As Maglevspiritualgeek said, the reason seems to be the 'Chicken Tax' in the USA. There is a special tax for vans like the T5 that are not build in the USA to protect the American market. For further information ask Wikipedia.

  • VW wake up!! I'm in trouble-my wife wants one!!!

  • Fuck the chicken tax

  • @Maglevspiritualgeek What is the chicken tax?

  • @JonnyCashmore The so-called Chicken tax was a 25% tax on potato starch, dextrin, brandy, and light trucks imposed in 1963 by the United States under President Lyndon B. Johnson as a response to tariffs placed by France and West Germany on importation of U.S. chicken. So you see the U.S. market does not receive the T5 range due to it being classed as a light truck, which thereby automatically includes a 25% extra tax (known as the chicken tax) on importation into the US.

  • do they do 6 seater in this

  • There is a huge vacume in US market for this great Camper. I don't get it: Doesn't VW company want to sel and make money? Then bring it to US , where you will sell 5 times more than all of Europe market. People are buying used 2003 Westfalia campers in US for almost it's original price, when they have 100,000 miles on them. hear me VW?

  • How weird is it that I live in California and this thing is not available here...

  • This song... it's amazing! Can someone tell me the name? It always gets me in a good mood! :)

  • google for "youtube 2 mp3" ;)

  • This deserves 5 stars, not 4 1/2!

  • I wish it was available in the USA! it's so cool! :(

  • No California for California.

    How ironic...

  • Does anyone recognize the song? I guess the are australian cause this vid is taken from the New Zeland's VW website

  • Gene Kelly

  • Very nice. But - given the small dimensions - I guess it has no toilet, shower, hasn't it?

  • yeah, so wrong not available in usa. vw: dont worry, a westfalia/chrysler rig isn't coming in the next decade...or perhaps ever! bring some over; and remember the hawaiian islands!!!

  • Got an 88 Wolfsburg "weekender" (no kitchen), Aside from finding anyone who can actually repair it.......well......it's been absolutely perfect!!

These machines will last forever if you give them the attention.....recommend putting synthetic lubricants everywhere, particularly the manual tranny.

Oh yeah, and mosquito netting attached with magnets does the trick for open-air sleeping.

"....breathe deep, the gathering gloom, watchlights fade from every room..."

  • VW T3 are the best ever!

  • we are now a long way from a inexpensive way of enjoying this planet arent we?

    T3 california owner.

  • We have one and use it for daily transportation too. Spain for 4 weeks, France for 3. No problem, although I recommend to cook outside, because of the smell, although cooking water/rice is of course possible. Besides! You only should bbq on holiday.

A porta potty can fit under the backseats, but in Europe there are toilets everywhere xD

  • is there no possible way to purchase in europe and import or use a US importer? this is an unreal vehicle

  • That's funny, A California Camper that you can't buy in California. Does anybody else see the irony in this? ROFLMAO :)

  • VW Tube,

It's ok really. Pretty soon there won't be anyone left who can afford it. Though waiting for a TDI for ten years sucked. Moving to Mexico to get one seems like a high price to pay ...

  • @VolkswagenTube

You made my day. I would really like to know if these guys at Volkswagen marketing know how silly this is.

  • vw is the best

  • This is the in-house VW T5 camoer, NOT Westfalia! Westfalia is planning to re-enter the US market, with a yet-unknown model.

  • let's hope!

  • Why can't they sell them here! VW, you hear!!!

  • Westfalia's camper are the best for two person for a week end.

If you have to do a trip of one or more weeks the "westy" is too little.

  • don´t they ever shit?

  • They waited until they could go in the bushes by the lake. Or they had their front seats converted to porta-potties maybe?

  • Either they waited until they got to the lake to go in the bushes ---- or ---- they converted their front seats to Porta-Potty seats. I would go with the Porta-Potty seats myself. Maybe with a holding tank and a flush peddle. Oh, yea, then turn the Glove compartment into a Fridge.

  • I would go into the bushes, or sit ontop of a rock viewing the great scenery, maybe the sunset while doing my shitty business, better not do it inside, it may smell bad!!!

  • Its called the Westfalia California Comfortline... (Previous 4 it was called Westfalia California Coach or Exclusive if u had the highprofile version). But the Westfalia California No-Limit in a limited edition and sooo cool.

  • VW America is lagging... why are they holding back?? Time will tell in the current 'f*^ed' American Economy. Hope to see one of these in "California".

  • The dealer network here is the problem. I'm still driving my `92 Golf because the new ones are too fat, and I can't buy a new Lupo or Polo.

They're not sending the new Scirroco here, either.

  • this camper is nice ive checked it out but for the price 35k+ no toliet or shower i dont think they will sell many there are not many millonarire camper enthuasists who will book a plot on a campsite when they can stay in a hotel, get real volkswagon i might buy one

  • Does anybody recognize this song? I've looked everywhere

  • me too i like it ,it would be nice for driving long journeys i think i might try to convert it with a youtube vixy converter but this video seems to cut off after 55 secs maybe bad connection

  • Very nice , but only for weekends...

  • Comment removed

  • lmao so hang on...

The T5 Camper is called a T5 California but its not available in the USA?

    Now thats screwed up lol

  • oh really? i thought bmw 3series or 7series^^

  • One last thing, the California is a regular wheel based camper where as the Eurovan Camper is extended 15 to 18 inches, which makes quite a big difference. The California is somewhere between the Camper and Weekender. So cutaway a T5 cab and weld it onto a EVC then you have the best of both worlds. Just a thought.

  • Oh, and the T5 in Mexico comes in Diesel with a 5 speed and it gets double the gas mileage of the USA VW Eurovan with the gas automatic. VW bring back the diesels to the USA. This van gets 30 to 33+/-mpg! The 2009 VW van (aka Dodge Caravan) is going to be the end to the camper, because even if you extend that van like the EVC you still have a small interior in comparison to the 200+ cu ft of the EVC.

  • You can buy one in Mexico. Mexico has had the T5 for sale for years including the California. Now the USA won't allow you to legally register it in the USA, so the way to get around this is to swap VIN numbers of a Eurovan. (and hope you don't run into a vw van fanatic officer who knows the difference.) Or get a regular T5 van and a Eurovan Camper and cutaway the cabs (swap) for about $10k to do the job. (with VIN number swap of course and hope nobody notices.)

  • Which side is the steering located from mexico? That plan sounds interesting.

  • where is the microbus? come on VW, we dont want a chrysler minivan

GET REAL!!!! you showed us the micorbus in 2005 and now you give us plain white bread.

  • @timbome I think the T5 is far spiffier than the t&c. I saw the concept for the microbus.. I thought it was kinda ugly inside.

  • 01:40 and 01:43 great view ;)

  • Hope a serial killer didn't get them.

  • Baby boomers are getting to the age where

finding a restroom on a frequent basis is

an issue. VW needs to make a T5 full camper

for the US market with a poptop and a toilet.

I've seen octogenerians "steering" 30+ foot

rigs, and they would probably rather be

    driving a T5! So would I. :^)

  • wonderful vehicle. t5 forever..:)

  • I want one so bad

  • Why would it be called a California, but not be available in the US? Hmm, pretty dumb!

  • So contact VW head office and find out where you can buy it then ..

  • Se la compró un colegui del curro y quedé enamorado de ella. Las imágenes son de la Comunidad Valenciana.

  • hayat boş al bi california coş:)

  • I love vw

  • its to small we got a much bigger camper.

  • Bu Yaa qeRisi yaLan

  • I like vw ):

  • Its called Westfalia California Comfortline... But the Westfalia California No-Limit is nicer

  • The new VW T5 California is not a Westfalia Camper. It is a real Volkswagen. It is a great Camper

  • It is a Westfalia... VW-Group bought the Westfalia AG. Company. Same as Ford did whit Reimo (only Ford doesnt use the name Reimo anymore).

  • So wrong.... It's called VW California and has nothing to do with Westfalia, but only the name California which VW bought back from Westfalia to use it on it's T5 camper version

  • Boo Hoo! Would VW PLEASE import vans to the USA again!! I love my 2001 Eurovan with all of my heart, but I want a T5 camper now too!

  • I wants one... But if the world is waiting for California and California is not available in the US. Then ah, I'm confused...

  • wow that thing is ugly

where did VW leave it's design sensibilities?

  • güsel bir reklam transporter sahibi olarak yakışır :d

  • Just picked the keys of my new California four days ago. Real sate-of-the-art wonder camper van. Forgot instantaneously my old beloved T3 after 300.000 happy kms. This is a little space ship!

  • how can you be happy to forget the T3?

  • Now -sorrowfully- you are positively right, fella! Only in a month learnt to see 'em lovely T3's down the highway. (Sigh!)
