  • TK931112 それはここでいうと誤解を与えるんじゃないか?動画と関係ない話題だし...。世界に喧嘩売ってるのかと思った

  • I don't want coloured picture .... I want some black and white picture ! It's classic, you know classic !

  • Incredibly Amazing! Thank you for sharing those wonderful pictures! <3

  • @truesky00

    Wrong.

    China civilized Korea and Japan.

  • upありがとうございました。この時代の写真ってあるものなんですね。

    色あせているのがまた、一段と儚げで美しかったです。

  • what a good kimono and a good umbrella.

And there are pretty much the background.

Now, It is difficult to take a such picture even if you go to very countryside.

  • the Japanese culture is unique, beautiful and powerful, unfortunatly, koreans, chinese, americans and some others have been spreading anti Japanese education... from my knowledge i could say that they do that because they are jealous of Japan.

  • @jin54363

Wow you are quite deluded arent you, first of all Nanking and all of the other World War 2 atrocities Happened and you cannot deny it, end of story. Baka

  • @gatheringleaves

why do you still insist on something that has no evidence??

its like insisting that you saw a pig flying!

  • @jin54363

But there IS evidence you idiot

There's pictorial evidence, witness testimony from both Chinese and Foreigners, and the fact that similar massacres happened in other places all over Southeast Asia and the Pacific!

  • @gatheringleaves

witnesses are no evidence, show me historical records that it actually happened, i could also make some fake story using money to buy witnesses, and use photoshop to fake photos, i could also do that, but real history records, are unique.

  • @jin54363

There was no photoshop in the 1930's and there are Historical Records that show that these events did occur. The idiotic Japanese historical revisionists are now denying that these events occured but they did nonetheless. Massacres have been perpetrated throughout history, the only difference is that now there was a more modern scientific approach, Japanese propaganda does not equate truth

  • @benevolentimmortal

    where are those historical records?

and those photos were trully faked, there are videos showing it, go check them.

  • @jin54363

The Historical Records are in China where they've always been BECAUSE it happened in CHINA!

Also those photos were not faked and I'm not going to watch those Japanese Propaganda videos because I know the events happened plain and simple

  • @benevolentimmortal

so, all videos made by japanese people are propaganda?

you yet have to show me those claims of yours.

all you haters, like to point out flaws of japan, when you have the biggest flaw!

mao tse dong killed 1 milion of chinese people, yet they worship him as god

america has yet to apologize for what they did to Japan.

and korea is the biggest liar of all!

  • @jin54363 Apologize for what? It is Japan that attacked the USA first. You should be lucky that the western countries decided to show mercy and did not wipe out the entire population of Japan, you inferior yellow scum.

  • @JL2813

actually the attacked was provocked in the first place by roosevelt.

  • @JL2813

this new race called anti japanese is the only scum and nasty shit i ever seen, you guys should be exterminated.

  • @jin54363 You better watch what you say you lowly Jap. The US Air Force has a base in Okinawa, and we can nuke all of your cities whenever we want. Your country survives only because of the kindness of white westerners.

  • @JL2813

hipocrite, you are the one who started with insults against Japan

the US does not hate japan, its not some pathetic racist that's gonna change my opinion.

and btw, i'm portuguese that supports Japan

seu otario filha de uma granda puta!

  • @benevolentimmortal You know they happened? Because you were there, right?

  • hahahugly pimitive race=Japanes; Japan was so poor less developed country buds~~~~~~

  • Wow.

These photos show that Japanese people before the mid 20th century were very short, just like dwarfs. Today's Japanese are still short but much taller than those in the past. I would be a giant if I were in Japan of that time.

  • Very nice.

  • Whats the name of this haunting music?

  • 古き良き時代。どうもありがとうございました。

    私は日本人だけど、もっと当時の事を知りたくなりました。

  • These are wonderful pictures. I like the one of them eating noodles. Thanks for sharing.

  • I saw the Japanese girls boobs old photo around here. where is it.

  • Most of the photographs are gross fakes... there was no colour photography in the 19th century. Why would some people spoil something pure just for recognition?

  • @ComboMuster Many photos were colored by hand back then.

  • Don't romanticize what you don't understand. Life back then was heavy, hard, hungry, sick, and short. There is a very good reason why the world, particularly Japan, abandoned this "simple" life in favor of Western life and technology -- it is superior! I wouldn't live in Japan today, much less back in the days when the barbaric, murderous Samurai roamed freely.

  • @Sigolet That was solely due to a better access to resources. Prior to technology, life was about as shitty in the Western world as well.

  • Comment removed

  • @Sigolet Uh, yes, they did. Notoriously, the style of Japanese weaponry is a direct result of the lack of minerals.

  • @Sigolet You're absolutely right. It's all about how specific societies work. Caste based societies like Japan stiffle people's creativity and advancement. Lack of upward mobility oportunities keeps the society stagnant. The samurais were great warriors but they've produced or offered nothing else.

In England the greatest inventors who kick-started the industrial revolution were sons of merchants and working class people.

  • @Sigolet i am japanese.yes, you are right.japan copied western.but it is not easy.japan had money and technologies enough to buy and copy western technologies.you can see there are many developing countries all over the world, they have got many supports from us though.and it is not fair that one country compare to europe.

plus now japan has a number of special permissions.however, from historically point of view, i think japanese is good at inproving than inventing.

  • @Sigolet

    Well said.

  • @orionpirates

you won't get to live peaceful life if you were born in lowest rank.

  • 尼さん綺麗・・

  • Great!!! Someone know who have wrote this music??

  • dwarf...

  • lol 19th century was far from good. anyone from that century would have gladly chosen to live in the century we live in if he had a chance to choose...

  • Um no, I think the Nineteenth Century as well as the present time both had their pros and cons for instance in those days humans were more diverse as far as culture and civilization, and life was overall alot simpler, true there was a shorter lifespan in those days and more diseases but in these times there is a great deal of violence and society is on the brink of collapse with people so wrapped up in money and technology, it isn't healthy

  • Imagine the hairdo of the women everything put up into these artworks you probably need help with that and the bulky clothes , besides the hard work you are feeling a little tied up - beauty has its price !

  • loved every minute. did not want it to end.....

  • I hear you friend

  • While, of course, I admire many things about the Japanese culture, it is easy to get wrapped in the romanticism of it all.

For example, the Japanese are a fairly ethnocentric and xenophobic culture, although that is changing. This leads to a lot of frustrations in dealing with them.

Remember that photos often depict the middle and upper classes during these times. Thus we see the most idealic pictures of a society. Japan had plenty of dark secrets in its culture not pictured here.

  • "Japan had plenty of dark secrets in it's culture not pictured here"

    Such as?

  • What a beautiful culture.

  • ありがとうございました。

  • shut up

  • Makes me want to play Fatal Frame haha neat pictures

  • So beautiful.

  • すごい!

    ありがとう

  • Actually, I would have to disagree with you!

  • music from fallout tactics ?

  • Thank you for sharing these!

  • Those photos don`t show the time 100 years ago, but a time 500 years ago.

  • 日本人だけど、この動画を見て凄く感動しました。古き良き日本、日本人の姿を感じどこか懐かしさすか感じました。出来ることならこの時代に生きてみたかった。

  • Splendid photos!!!!! Perla

  • feel the ancient pure beauty

  • Beautiful

  • Someone can tell me what´s the name of the music in the video, please? Thank you.

  • wow... ancient kendo

  • @onlywannasee

ancient? lol, it was only 150 years ago. Ancient is anything before 1000 CE; i.e. at least 1000 years ago.

Cool photos, though - it's amazing to think how much the world has changed in such a short time period.

  • I love the culture of Yipoon. In my language, the Japanese are known as Yipoon. So beautiful. The culture of Japanese reminds me of my culture as well.

  • @niamtxiv

    did you mean "nippon"?

  • Very, very nice photos and a lovely music!

    Thank you fore share it.

    Anamaría

  • Wow, simply amazing photos. its nice to see a video of real substance and worth on youtube. These photos have me longing for another time long ago. Keep posting and have a great day.

  • Yeah these are really nice

  • Wow nice video that would've been great growing up in those times every so simple seeing samurai walking around with swords. lol I grew up in the wrong century. Dam

  • I think we all grew up in the wrong time

  • and i think ive never heard better words before

  • I love the music you chose for this. Sets the mood perfectly. Very nice compilation of photos.

  • Comment removed

  • don't say that

  • Comment removed

  • You didn't really answer my question, were you trying to say that if Japan had not modernized it would be like Africa. I highly doubt that. First off

Edo era Japan was a very disciplined society unlike the primitive tribal Africans who were cannibals and headhunters and hunter gatherers, I think it would have modernized fairly quickly in this Modern Era, based on it's past

  • you appear to know a lot about japan but PLEASE don't talk about that which you know nothing. Africa is vast and encompasses many civilizations, cultures and beliefs. To disregard a whole continent with 'disciplined society unlike the primitive tribal Africans who were cannibals and headhunters and hunter gatherers'. Surely you had no intention of showing such ignorance.

  • don't talk about something you don't fully understand

  • Oh my god you're so right! I can't believe it didn't occur to me until now how ignorant that comment about African was. What makes it even more weird is that I'm part black myself lol

  • If Japan had not gone through the Meiji Restoration what do you think it would be like today?

  • i dont think the "if you want something, take it" mentality was learned from any 1 culture. thats a primal instinct, with the only difference being animals only want/take things like territory, food, and mates. ALL people do the same thing, though usually for reason much more petty. evolution's to blame. the strong take what they want and are the ones to pass on their genes

  • That document, is wonderfull.

  • wow.... it really was a different world back then

  • yeah

  • 日本人は、昔から理性や美意識が

    あったんだね

  • Wonderful Photos of the Ancient and Mystical Japan

Oh and I absolutely adore the music

It gives the video an almost haunting feel

  • fucking U.S.A they send 2 atomboombs to Japan they fucking bastards!! i dont know what the fuk was the point to do taht ok to stop the WAR yes true BUT WHY 2BOOMBS!!

  • Ah, I've always liked traditional Japan over modern Japan. I wish they'd go back to their old ways to an extent.

Oh and to answer your question 8dahar1. Japan did what they did because they learned it from the west. That was part of the Meiji Restoration, a bunch of generals and people from the government went to Europe and America and learned about...stuff. One of the things they learned was, if you want something, take it. That and other douchey stuff imperialist Europe did. >_>

  • and imperialist europe learned it from the romans who learned it from the greeks who learned it from middle easterners who learned it from the chinese who were the ones who got raped anyways!!! it's a full circle of douchebags!!

  • Well, actually, that's not EXACTLY correct. If by Middle Easterners you mean the Persians and such, they didn't learn anything from China. And the Greeks never had that mind set of if you want something take it. So, not quite.

  • they traded with China, to say they didn't learn anything would be absurd.

and the ancient Greeks were just as brutal as anyone else mentioned here... I don't know why you chose to single them out

  • Well, sure, yeah, they traded with them, but that doesn't mean everything they knew came from China. Oh, and I didn't mean Greeks, my bad, wrong civilization.

  • I appriciate your sympathy.

They did it both on the city filled with civilians, too. Clearly, they wanted to threat and fend off Communists by dropping A-bombs, it wasnt to stop the war.

  • From 1 to 10 i wil say (11) for respect!! I LOVE JAPAN AND OLD THING FROM THERE!! i love this music 2 hope you wil make more!!

  • I wish I were living ANYWHERE in the 19th century.. :/

    ...

    Kind of.. x3

  • great vid... but bujinkan is nowhere near ninjutsu... the 2 are totally different arts

  • Life was better in the 19th century. People live a more simple lifestyle.

  • I completely agree with you. Western life is so wrapped up in money and technology. i'd love to live self-sufficiently.

  • @RowntreeOllin It's not just western life it's world wide. Life wasn't simple back then, it was difficult, they didn't have the convenience of everything we have today--> food, technology, and it was pretty lawless. they had hardships most people will never ever experience. lol think about it... and you can choose to live any way you wish to....your life is all based on personal choices.

  • During the 19th century, the iron steamship was invented.

The (wooden) shipwright, ship's carpenter, caulker, mastbuilder, blockmaker and sailmaker were 'un-invented'...

Not to mention the 'sailor' in the true sense of the word.

Life and death are interlinked- one can not exist without the other.

Every act of creation contains a certain amount of destruction.

We should therefore be careful what we create-

    Lest we 'un-invent' ourselves someday...

  • I'll put it like this...creation through destruction and destruction through creation...it's a way of philosophy. Hekamaat, you have a good point :)

  • @orionpirates Life was great...if you were a member of the ruling classes :P

  • what do you mean by that zenbyo?

  • @gatheringleaves It's easy to think that way when you look at pictures of Samurai and other people. Someone had to gut those fish and tan hides :P

  • yeah you rigth exep for the badroom, but i wish i was live in that time

  • @orionpirates

you wouldn't think so if you were born in lowest class.

  • @lovekurt Even if I was born in the lowest class, life would still be better because you get to live a peaceful life, free from modern technology.

  • Comment removed

  • @orionpirates

yes terrible things such as medicine and an 8 hours day. youdbe working literary all day and die of tuberculosis miserably.

  • Comment removed

  • @orionpirates Guys think about it. Some aspects of todays life are bad and things about back then seem better, but I know that if it wasn't for the time I'm living in now I would probably never have been able to learn much about Japan, and I certainly wouldn't have been able to train in their martial arts both because they were largely unshared with the world and because back then my asthma may have prevented me.

don't be absorbed with money or technology. Live you life as you wish. :)

  • @orionpirates Naive. but i can see why youd think that, i too sometimes do..

  • Ooh its a really nice slide show ;) And the music=> I love it ! Its from Fallout 2 ...and that world was dead also ...

  • BreathTaking

    Thank You

  • gostaria de obter estas fotos desse vídeo....

    como posso obter?

  • just think all the people in these photos are now dead...

  • And we will be as well. It's just like that all the time, isn't it? So, let's grab some R&R while we still can!

  • How beautiful and elegant are those Japanese ladies! It makes me happy :)

  • now i know why people at that time belived that photographs holds ur soul.......look at 00:18 n 1:18........... they look like ghosts!!!!!!!!

n why does the red apears stronger than the other colors...........

    now

take a look at ............its blood on the kimono n the gril seens to be crying......... realy good photo..........

wonder if that one was intentional or if someone realy died!!!

  • jesus, don`t people know, that half of old photos were later COLOURED (by hand) intentionally...

  • i know

still, why the red is so strong????

  • Weren't some of these pictures made by Beato?

  • they didnt have colored pictures yet only black and white so they painted them with paints of different colors to make it look not black and white on some of the pictures.

  • 01:07

    was that guy a yakusa???

  • Yes, he's a yakuza.

  • fallout music, it reminds me of the old times ;)

  • And I also want to say that I hope they come to Germany for a seminar very soon, I want to test his 4 dans in randori. Maybe I see him again in Hungary and see if he can show us. It really is called the CIRCUS dojo, no lie! I wish I remebered this guys name......

  • I know this teacher from a seminar with Arnuad, he is an fuch head. His teacher is a liar about his rank claims 12 dan but is not. and this man claims to know yondan and he cannot roll, ukemi or anything. He talks bad about people who I know and I know Are very good. In one year this man went from 1 dan to 4 dan HOW? because his teacher needed money. This dojo is called the CIRCUS dojo in many countries now because of the clowns who teach. THIS IS AN INSULT TO BUJINKAN!

  • I know people who have gone from 1st Dan to 9th Dan in 4 years and also from 9th kyu to 10th Dan in less than 10 years, I think it would be better if instead of trying to put people down we should all try and work together, many dojo's have bad reputations but not all instructors try to make themselves out as pure of heart when in fact they are just playing politics

  • Ghostdruid, Yes you are correct however you do not know the facts as we do in Germany. I think I know who you speak of from 1 dan to 9 dan in 4 years but he is been train many years and we meet him many times in Japan. SO since his dans come from Hatsumi I think it is ok,

  • Politics? well he try to make paece many times and give many things to people but the PURE HEART people never go to meet him. I speak to 5 15 dans and say nothink but good things about 9 dan. The 4 dan is different as he speaks to all peoples about how bad 9 dan is. So there is you problem maker there.

  • I wont make names here for the world to see but remeber 5 to 9 dan comes for only Hatsumi and there is no profit for any shihan, but I meet 4 dan once and I must say, sad. But it is not a German problem, if you want to see NO politics then you go to 9 dans dojo and see for you self what he is doing and then you can tell everyone, I have gone there 2 times this year and I really like it. very real. Take care Politics is over - Auf

  • it is interesting. magyars are interesting too. they were like mongols and bulgars but settled in pannonia. They are not Huns tho. The Huns were Turks and Mongols.

  • Incredible. It amazes me when I think of the idea that the youngest person in the photos probably died of old age before I was ever born.

  • Thanks for sharing your amazing collection.
