  • LOL sounds like youtube commenters know everything about muay thai. First of all... you are not stopping the kick with your ribs, if you payed attention you'd see that he sidestepped with the kick which when done correctly takes a substantial amount of force away from the kick. 2nd of all... yeah I understand that kicking out the standing leg is a great move. BUT YOU DONT HAVE TO DO IT EVERY FUCKING TIME. its called Variety. kinda sucks if you are limited to have the knowledge of only 1 takedown

  • @llli1illllll muay thai practice and I tell you so does not stop a middle kick (sorry google translator)

  • @llli1illllll - i agree with this. Kicking to the leg is part of a variety but why keep on kicking the leg if you are a better fighter and knock your opponent down with a high kick to the neck/jaw? you save yourself from your opponent blocking-countering and possibly you hitting bones rather than going for the kill! that is why this is the clip being shown, to add moves to your aresena. IT DOESNT MEAN YOU JUST DO ONE THING in a fight.

  • Grab the leg and shin-kick the shit of his fully extended standing leg.Straight on the side of the knee. Kick again if he don't start crying.

  • if he rotated his hips and kicked correctly he could quite easily give him a combo to the face and grab his neck! hence not allowing the takedown !

  • lethal defense?? serious???Going to stop a middle kick to the ribs!! if you get in the ribs with the shin may end up in ER with a broken rib or a pneumothorax, the middle kick stands with his arm back out to the kick of your arm does not stop rib, - (sarcasm on) or I will give a high kick mmm I'll stop with the head and then catch him his leg to sweep, like a great idea! (sarcasm off) I am a muay Thai fighter.

  • "reach behind the neck", yes, your opponent will incline to make this available for you to catch his neck.

  • @19Milooszek20

I agree with you, anyone who has the slightly bit of training will know not to lean forwards

Best thing to do is keep reverse elbowing them just above the knee cap while pushing them backwards, Not sure if you can do that in muay thai but in MMA you can and trust me it fucks up your leg big time!

  • this move is actually pretty stupid and I would never use it. I train at vosgym in Amsterdam. The dutch are common winners with muay thai. If someon would try this move on me, the moment i'm as close as 1:30 i would grap on to his head, bend my leg wich he is holding, and use it to have support to jump up, lift my left leg, and give him a knee in the face. If you end in a situation in which you have his leg, just kick his other leg on his enkel, achilles heel. That's way quicker and lethal.

  • grap his leg and then kick on his last standing leg or punch him so hard on the face that he falls.

  • I catch leg, elbow to thi, then grab leg from elbowing arm n thiw elbow 2 head with free hand, works alot better then the.tgrow n more affective.

  • when u are going to catch his neck in that way u can be easily punched in the face. i would not use this tecnique. sorry

  • don't be an idiot and try this, never try and catch the leg because it can go wrong fast

  • @master9320 LOL. YES YOU NEED TO BE AN ASSHOLE TO TRY TO CATH A KICK.

  • Points win over power !! specially in a thai match

  • nice take down

  • On the power scale?

  • thats good but watch shoguns version two knees and a high kick

  • I did this today.. i did it so well he fell on his head

  • jesus with ur right leg post it on the outside of his leg, light the leg youve caught and twist then hell fall right over, u shouldnt have to reach in and pull like that, when sum1s on 1 leg as soon as u post ur leg on the other side u can move them of so easy

  • @jonny232323232323 it could be a little tricky to do that with gloves on though,

  • @dasudosomia its gonna be difficult to move your leg to the other side of his with gloves on?

if you post your leg on the outside of theyre support leg, then as soon as your hand moves them or theyre balance is changed by you lifting the leg youve caught theyre easy to go over.

    this makes it harder

    a few examples here

    look /watch?v=s3d4fDs1PVc&feature=related

    /watch?v=UclVWi1gYyY

just my opinion and all im not criticizing but thats certainly wat works for me

  • @jonny232323232323 oh, for some reason when i read this i thought you literally meant grabbing their foot and just twisting it to make them fall over. i've seen my coach do it a few times to people but i find that hard to do with gloves.

  • If this is Lethal Defence then I assume we're talking about street self-defence, not Muay Thai ring fighting,,,in which case the more lethal technique would surely be a shin kick, up and into the exposed groin?

Muay Thai in the ring, and using Muay Thai for self-defence is two different ball (pun) games.

  • shit..!!

  • fuck that im kicking his leg out.

  • @gets0m3foo that or knee him

  • Press 4 and make him say chili as many times as you want ;)

  • If i caught the leg like that, I'd elbow the thigh then the head after that

  • This is good, but there is a more deadly technique; grab that leg, throw a knee in his thigh, land your free elbow into his quad and sweep his other leg with a low kick.

  • Why are some of your videos not viewable from Japan?

  • @MoGimp It does work though bro been using that since i started in 94', like ANY manuveur it's timing. No move is full proof, what makes a move effective is technique and timing. You just have to know when to use it coz every opponent is different.

  • @Chochili7 fully agree with you there, gotta read the opponent first.

  • Too vulnerable to an attack, body is open so is face

  • Why in the USA?

Why not in its origin country?

    Lazy bastards.

  • The way he did the catch at the 1:09 left him vulnerable for a hook from the oppenent.

  • Yeah 'til he 50/50 clinches and throws a knee into your ribs.

  • Totally think that a kick to the standing leg knee would be best!

  • @StealthKill01 Ye or elbow to the caught leg or both or the throw, some ppl like to rotate left and deflect the kick away.

  • @StealthKill01

    fully agreed!

  • @StealthKill01 yes it could be best to sweep his standing leg but if you instead throwing him, you will give him two or three knees on his head while you holding his head ?

  • is it a low kick? i think it is a middle kick. Dont u think so?

  • @Microvillus00 ya it is. most ring style goes for high kicks so i guess they consider that low.......idk lol. but ya it works. you could also do more of a cut kick to the standing leg, catch and spike the leg, push kick stop the throwing leg, or a simple move in, a number of things. iv had that throw done on me. best thing is get up quick but keep your guard up. i dont do ring style so i expect a knee or a drive kick to the face or them to just rush me to get on top. they did a good cover.

  • i like it better when they catch the kick and, kick out there other leg from under them....makes you seem more of a baddass LOL

  • the fact that the opponent or attacker will obviously resist not only when you catch his leg but also when you try to get to his head, even if you do manage to grab it, i highly doubt this will work on anybody and especially not somebody with experiance. if you catch the leg a knee to the balls in a situation where you are being attacked and need to defend yourself would be much, much more effective in my opinion

  • so ill just take that kick on my body and hopefully i can suck it up and do this move? ill respond back after im released from the hospital

  • i love this move, it looks cool and nicely done :)

  • bullshit

  • If the oponent is really experienced, then this may not work all the time. He could easily just throw a quick jab once he relises you're going to catch his foot, since theres nothing really protecting the face.

  • Just remember nothing is absolute this could be considered a high risk move just for the simple fact that if when he did the reach around (haha) if the attacker brushed the arm aside with his closest arm he now has your back.

  • @heath832 yeah I liked the reach around!

  • I wish I had the looks and the body that Roy Corona has!Not to mention the athletic ability too!

  • realisticly!! saw it done a million times in mma fights ufc is one of them and never saw it done once and form watching it their upper body was position to far back for them to grab on the head and i would think you catch a couple of punches in the face before he even thinks about grabbing the head!! just my thoughts!!!

  • @mrbadboy5o

except that this is not mma....its muay thai.

  • @htrizzle oh!! ok!! yeah you right!! if it just muay thai!!

  • hay fag thats not how u fight u fag

  • fatal idiots...

  • hay can plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz sub me back cuzz i got a friend that fights with me and i dont no how to fight soo can u sub me back i wanna no how to fight

  • @alexdavido2011 you bite his nipples and kick him in the balls. game over.

  • the real one not like that -.- when he catch the leg. they elbow it -.- right? lol

  • In REAL muay thai? This will get you KILLED! Or worse!

  • if ur enemy is fast and smart he will kill ur liver....but if thats about u being slower than him lol.

  • Wouldnt be easier to just take out the one leg that is standing?

  • hmm.. quite stupid...

  • Sheldon Cooper!

  • I really want to see anyone throwing someone on the ground after having 2 ribs broken due a muay thai knee kick that will hit you when you open your side to "grab" the leg. Just simple use the step to the side and foward then low kick the other leg, the guy will fall aswell, and you will keep your ribs intact -.-

  • @guuhs thats y he steps side to grab the kick...to divert the power

  • @guuhs If you are prepared for the kick, you step aside a little, and contract your obliques, the kick won't do that much harm. It will still hurt as fuck, but it won't leave lasting damage.

  • WROOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG after you catched you dont wanna reach behind the neck because he take a punch from your opponent its better to lean a bit behind and kick the single standing leg + it hurts not like your version

  • this is hella bullshit, you're not allowed to "follow up" in muay thai. once they're on the ground you let them get up

  • @tomsabovearth i think it's about defence on street or similar against this kick.

  • @ferdelance1994 thats fine, but they should make that clear. especially if theyre standing in a muay thai gym with muay thai gear on

  • @tomsabovearth yeah good point, telling watchers as a fight in ring has rule's...defence in street has none, or 1 rule, that's anything allowed out there on the street.

  • @tomsabovearth hey watched vid again there was no follow-up once he threw opponent on ground !!!!, i guess he leaves that up to yourself 2 determine, still a bit of guideance as to rules ect would help. but this teqnique is allowed in ring, but as u said NO FOLLOW UP when opponent on ground is true.

  • Me and my friend Ruben tried this out in his backyard in our underwear, his dad walked outside and saw us he thought we were doing something homosexual like because we were grabbing on to eachother,it was funny. He swore me to secrecy.

  • damn look at all thos thai pads in the back! lol thats like 2000 dollars worht!

  • That's just IDIOT! HOW THE HELL, YOU LAY YOUR GUARD DOWN TO DO THAT my god, guys don't do that's just... idiot....

  • if search youtube "MUAY THAI Samart Payakaroon.wmv" ur see more brutal MT tactic .

  • be prepared for anything out there. true. what ever you can do to any one can be done to you.

  • This is a nice move :) just one notice, when the guy is reaching for oponents neck, his ribs seem to be realy open..

  • @Eimisable What attack do you think could even possibly thrown with any effectiveness whatsoever while standing on one leg, off balance... a shovel hook to the "exposed ribs" would have nothing on it i.e. no torque etc...

  • @lileichmann I was thinking just the same..like how strong a ''hook'' punch to the ribs could be, if you were standing on one leg..i guess you're right (i guess in my previous post i should have mentioned that i haven't tried the move and i'm not sure wether it is an issue (the open ribs).

    Take care.

  • @lileichmann True, the hook is useless on one leg. However, sharply pull your caught leg towards yourself while delivering a downward cut-elbow on the same side as the caught leg. Great Muay Thai trick taught to me by a Croatian National Team coach visiting our club. It can cut your opponent right open.

  • @88keyz88 I'll give it a whirl.

  • Ok

  • what they seem to fail to explain here for those who are hollering about getting kicked is that if you watch the instructor do the technique he moves out of range by stepping inside and away from where the kick is aimed before catching it. He doesn't just stand there and take a full power kick. And I'm pretty sure I've seen this move used by high level muay thai fighters in real fights, so it ain't bullshit.

  • @jamurai77 You're right, and you're actually taking the kick in the lats, not the ribs, so it doesn't hurt nearly as much...I think they forgot to mention that part

  • @jamurai77 no it ain't bs. Catching the kick is a standard defense in Muay Thai. After you catch, you can punch the face, sweep the support leg out, kick the inside or outside of the support leg, knee the femoral nerve on the inside of the caught leg, or simply move forward into the "plow" (a classic Muay Thai takedown). My very first kick in my very first fight got caught and I got my support leg swept out. Believe me, even if you know it's coming, it's pretty hard to defend against.

  • My friend Ruben and I tried this out and when he reached for the back of my head after my initial kick he grazed my nose and now I have this mean scab on it.We're both a bit skinnier than these two guys but the shit still hurt every time we hit the ground.

  • Thai and dutch guys will do something else

  • stupide technique !! you will take a strong kick to your body just for taking him down pfff !! revise your technique advice from a freind !!

  • @leitoleito86 that's why you step out of the way, if you knew the mechanics of a kick you'd realize, he's stepping out of the power zone or sweet spot of the kick, watch the Bas Rutten round kick video, and he'll explain it.

  • About 30000 vote for this ?? probably none of them knows how powerfull this kick can be....it's not that easy to grab a leg... And even if you manage to grab him the other guy will stay there without hit you??? sucks!!!

  • fail!

  • lol take a kick to the ribs and then take them down? its a good move but the wrong way of catching their leg.

  • man in that position I would do much more effective stuff than just a throw...

  • @donsebastianodefills thats lessons for noobs not a real fight

  • this works but if your more of a striker and you like to force your oponnet to get into defensive mode. if this helps i learned this a while back. to catch the kick, then knee openent 2 times one to the body one to head then push away and hich kick

  • this is a move ment for a high level MT practitioner to use in matches. It is a mistake to try to teach this as a selfdefence, as it obviously isnt.

  • But you get hit! Someone who has a good kick and a strong shinbone can hurt you.

  • Kick to the groin instead, take his wallet and run away :-) Thats better self defence...

  • @JBurghaus lol not quiet.

  • This is shit

  • one thing about me in a spar i keep on backing off thats the annoying thing

  • @NwaEazyE34 haha ?

  • @EightLimbz wawa?

  • you sweep his leg, you dont do this shit

  • @choclatesaltyballz ye your right this isn't muay thai.

  • if i were in these situation after these on 0:54 i would deliver knee in his face

  • I'd prefer to slam my elbow into the thigh of the caught leg then grab and back elbow into the head.

  • you wana grab the top of the head, not the neck, if you grab the neck your opponent could arch their back and stay upright, grabbing the top of the head takes away any neck resistance they would try and use. a better offensive attack would be to kick out the opponents leg.

  • @50006972 If you grab the top of the head you won't be able to throw the guy as intended. You grab the top of the head if you going to knee not for this type of throw.

  • @changoo1969

when you catch the leg, why would you not kick out the other leg? it'd be an actual offensive move and also pointful cos in a thai boxing match fight throwing someone to the ground like that is just pointless when you can get the sweep kick.

  • @50006972 obviously. But we are not talking about alternate defense are we? We are analysing this one. By the way I have over 50 muay thai fights and lived in thailand for a year I think I know what i am talking about.

  • @changoo1969

was giving advice on your self defense technique, using that technique in a muay thai fight would be not just stupid but also like i said, pointless.

  • @50006972 I get it all you are saying is you don't like that technique and would prefer to kick out the leg. Fair enough.

  • @changoo1969

yeah man im just saying i see it as a more beneficial technique for muay thai, i also like delivering a big right knee from catching a leg kick.

  • @50006972

You get way more points for throwing them onto the ground

  • @mezzadakiller

you dont get points for takedowns in muay thai.

  • @50006972

You obviously haven't been in a Muay Thai match before.

Maybe in your part of the world you don't, but you do where I come from.

If you actually did it like I do, you would know.

Think about it, why would they teach takedowns if you don't get points for it?

Muay Thai is a ring sport, you get points for everything.
