when I was kid we used clay mud to rap around the fish, and when the clay is hard a whitish the fish is done. But now days with so many contaminates in the water a soil i do not know if I would still use the clay pack
Great vid, thank you. I still think you should not go out without some heavy duty aluminum foil. It weighs nothing, and you just drop the fish in, then in the coals for a while, done. :-)
@unclearless I actually like leaves better than foil, because when it is done cooking the scales come off with the leaves and you eat nothing but meat. Foil can't do that. But I do like about foil is if I have some butter. I love cooking fish in foil and butter. Thanks.
@MrKellsk8 Read post below. Sometimes I forget that not all people have common sense .I should have specified on leaves to use. Only use leaves that are edible or you know aren't poisonous and don't have a lot of tannic acids such as oak leaves. and stay away from leaves with astringent smells they leave a funky taste. Also don't over do it on leaves with strong flavors. Such as sassafras leaves, to many will make meat taste awful. Just use common sense! Thanks

And I gutted the fish first but you can cook them with guts in. In fact I almost ate the guts but I needed them for bait
Really good video. I've never heard of a yo-yo trap until i saw your videos. I am looking into them now. That makes me really hungry for some catfish! Thanks for the great video man!

@sigma3survivalschool Foil wont but your finger can, or just remove the skin. Or scale the fish first. Or any number of things. And so on.

So you wrap it and cook it in hot coals and then scrape off the skin and eat the meat?
You didn't cut out guts or do any other prep?
Nice video thanks for the info!!
