Even though Pentangeli denied all that he said, wouldn't the Committee still attempt to indict Michael, given how heavily elaborate Will Cicci's testimony was and how the big white chart featured at 0: 14 shows all the Corleone brothers and all the names of the caporegimes and soldiers?
can somebody help me out with this. its been bothering me since the first time i watched this movie. how did roth's men stage pentangeli's death when he met with the rosatto brothers in ny. the police officer who came in seemed legit suprised and shocked when he saw pentangeli's body in the back.
Every actor in this scene does their job perfect. It is a masterpiece. I love the reaction of actor Harry Dean Stanton (FBI Agent). He leans in slightly to coach Pentangeli (means 5 angels in Italian) and his reaction is as if he had 20 years as a Federal Cop. I love it!!!
if i was Frank i woulda just went ahead and snitched on Micheal. i mean either way hes going to die. Micheal will still know that he went to the authorities. it wouldnt make sense y the courts would make up stuff that seems so accurate unless he did snitch. Mike would still think he can no longer trust frank anymore so him changin his sotory really didnt change anything in the end
@MrLJSykes411 He kept his word, it's between the brothers, he didn't want to ruin the family name by snitching. His brother came to support him in his time of trouble, for a moment, Frank Pentangeli forgot who he was and the oath he swore, seeing his brother reminded him.
You know when I saw The Black People, I often wondered if they were part of The Negro Press, and how many of them Worked in NY Clubs and The Casinos that were Owned By The Family.
Whats the significance of Franks brother being there? Is that why Frank recants his statements because he saw his brother, I never fully understood that part.
@elitedonk It was Michael's way of Blackmailing him by saying "If You Rat On Me, I will hurt you and Your Brother" Frankie didn't want his Brother to know how he made his Living. This was a joke consdiering that Vincenzo was a Powerful Don in his Small Village. Also, keep in mind that Vincenzo was raising Frankie's Three Illegitimate Children as his own and of course in those days having a Child out of Wedlock was a major Sin.
@elitedonk There was this fantastic book that my Sister had several years back. Now if you look at the Scene with Frankie and Tom Hagen at The Army Barracks, he talked about how he could have been big, he could have had his own family but nothing would have taken him away from that Two Meal Town. As for The Children, there was a Reference about it in The History Of The Godfather. Also did you ever get a chance to check out The Coffee Table Book.
@elitedonk,Vincenzo, shocked that Frankie is about to break his blood oath and betray the Corleones to government authorities, attends the hearing to remind Frankie that he must not break the Mafia's code of silence, Omertà. His brother's presence, as well as the stare they exchanged, serves as a threat that if Frankie follows through with his planned testimony, retribution will be taken against his children, who are living in Sicily under Vincenzo's guardianship
I love his lawyer's reaction. He just stares at him for 1 minute as if to say "Are you fucking serious?" The he finally buries his face in his hand lol. I can imagine Coppola saying "Just stare at him as he self-destructs, okay? Action!"

@AvenueD417 Hollywood uses this all the time with their own brand of Omerta. "code of silence".
