  • I love this. I love your words, Andrea Gibson. You have a magical talent for words and I cannot thank you enough for them.

  • This literally gave me chills.

  • Does anyone know where I can find a transcription of this, I've tried looking before, but I could never find one.

  • @qler4life If you're still looking, I wrote one up here: aslanforpresident[DOT]tumblr[DOT]com/post/12502824085/the-night-i-was-torn-from-the-pages-of-their-bible

  • @Blasphometic I tried to go to that page, but I couldn't. I kept getting "Page not found." How come?

  • wow.

  • This is truly beautiful

  • "I wouldn't pull the splinters from my heart anymore than Christ would pull the thorns from his crimson head"

That's the one that always takes my breath away. <3

  • weeping.

  • "To that God who greeted me at his gates with his mouth full of trumpets and his tears full of shame as his trembling palms collected the cinder of his children's crime"

  • "And all they know of hate is that it couldn't beat the love out of me" - One of the most beautiful lines. It pops into my head on occasion and makes me tear up.

  • I cried too.

  • This poem is beautiful and true. "They didn't win." We must all strive to make sure they never, ever "win".

    Thank you, Andrea.

  • I cried. No lie. This is beautiful.

  • omg this is beautiful such emotion RIGHT ON!!!!!!

  • I'm bawling like a baby. This obviously hit me hard. wow.

  • Thank you Andrea Gibson for your poem.

  • When the human fires started across Tunisia and the protests across the middle east, I thought of this poem on a tangent. I couldn't help it, and cried upon memory and cried for the people struggling now.

  • amazing. she says everything that is in my heart, that i don't have to words to say.

  • I stopped crying while listening to her poems, I just listen in awe and let my heart cry.

  • She gives me chills.

  • Andrea, so amazingly beautiful. As are all of your poems.

  • this is so beautiful

  • Powerful

  • -their empty mouths full of prayers to that God that greeted me at His gates. DAMN girl!!! a unique talent, no doubt. Cannot wait to see her live.

  • she is amazing omg i lover her.her words are so true.they speak for everyone.

  • Does anyone know the soldier she's talking about, the queer one burned? I'd like to learn more about him, even just his name.

  • so amazing. but so sad

  • her words like miracles in disguise

  • Amazing.....made me cry....

  • i can't breathe..andrea amazes me.

  • Why can't we study poets like this in english? lol Only problem i had with it though was that it seemed she was at the climax of her poem the whole way through. She never stopped or slowed down for reflection till the end. Just some light and shade in the poetic language would have made it perfect.

  • mannn. "And all they know of hate, is that it couldn't beat the love out of me." WOW.

  • They didnt win, I whispered

  • i opened the night with my teeth

  • this is such an inspirational poem it made me cry. love it.

  • I remember watching you in the Sommer Center of Wells College. My college.... You have written so many words of truth and I thank you for every poem you have written.

  • .. wow. just. wow.

  • months later and i find this poem still hasn't left me.

thank you andrea gibson for awonderful poem

  • i love this one so much.

    thank you.

  • One of my favorites. Every word is inspired. Life changing.

  • sometimes, there is nothing more powerful than a poem. sometimes, there are no melodies, no speeches that can say what a poem can. to try and put ionto words what this poem brought out in me would be to cheapen it

(unless it too was a poem)

  • Andrea be my best friend. i need your words.

  • thank you thank you thank you
