this is just for games.. if you use your PC for work and gaming NVIDIA is the better solution. But if you use your computer for gaming and less working on it you ll be getting ATI. But also ATI works better with AMD but not with Intel.

The HD 4550 is definitely better.

The 9400 GT overheated... the cheap plastic fan melted. The GPU still works, but no fan means it stops working after a few minutes.

The HD 4550 I have is passively cooled and has given me no problems.

Funny. I've actually owned both cards. I had a PNY 9400GT for a while. I got 75 FPS on Halo but I had to turn decals off (decals made it 10-20 FPS). Eventually, the fan stopped working and burned out. The card itself still works. I just have it in storage without fan.

Then I bought an HD 4550 (same price) and so far it kicks ass. I run Halo at 60 FPS with decals on, or up to 150 FPS with decals off.

well.. check your benchmarks, 4670 alone is slightly worse than a 9600 GSO, while the 4650 is about 20 - 40% worse than the 4670. and seeing as how the 9600 gso is worse than 9600 gt, it's quite clear it's not 9600 gt level. Also, 9500 gt is slightly worse than the 4650... ddr3 9500 gt is about ddr2 4650. Hope this clears up some stuff for you.

probably a defect card, cause the 4550 was never mean`t to even attempt at the 9500 gt level, the 9400 gt is 3x if not more, weaker than the 9500 gt. And as you see in the video it`s about 30% better than the 9400 gt. later.
