  • This rendition is absolutely authentic. A rare voice. He's perfect for this role! There are other tenors who come close, but I'd say this is probably my favorite.

  • sweetest

  • Squisito! Mille Grazie!

  • Ricorda moltounaltro grande - tito schipa . bellissimi e vibrati gli acuti.

  • Omaggio a Francesco Soriani grande appasssionato di Lirica.

ssss......canta il grande Ferruccio Tagliavini !

  • very beautiful singing

  • very beautiful singing

  • Seriously, this is so beautiful, I'm speechless.

  • One of the most beautiful things I've ever heard. Now this is what great lyric tenor singing is all about. I do so wish there were more of it out there!

  • Could a bird ever sing sweeter!

  • Wonderful interpretation!

  • I heard him in recital in Chicago near the end of his career and except for the top forte notes as always it reminded me of Gigli in the middle and soft voice for sweetness. Very beautiful Lyric tenor.

  • Con el person de los expertos. Me parece oir a Tito Schipa. Maravillosos tiempos.

  • bravo maestro,bravo!impresive tehnic!

  • Thanks a lot!

    M.

  • very very impressive!

  • Absolutely beautiful... what a voice!

    Karlott

  • Grandios, when Y am closing my eyes and only hearing this wonder, Y am meaning to hear Caruso ! In this Video he is equal the greatest tenor we ever had !

  • people who don't look like nemorino would look for a thousand haha

  • What a lesson in perfect technique and gorgeous phrasing

  • Much better when he recorded this on the old 78's as one of the tenors of the Cetra era...

...however his style of Mezza voce singing is unparalled...best displayed on his older recordings...but the cross from half voice to full voice is phenomenal!

    One of my favourite tenors!

  • con esta voz mueren las palabras. ¡GRACIAS!!!

  • Ho le lacrime......

  • As a very young child I first had the privilege of seeing Tagliavini at the Metroplitan Opera to which my parents had taken me to see La boheme. Afterwards as an encore he sang Come back to Sorrento...in Italian of course & the audience went so wild with enthusiasm, that he had to sing it several times before they let him go. An experience I will never forget. At that time also the American audience was not too familiar with him. He left them with quite an impression...I would say.

  • Grandissimo tenore !

  • Beautiful lyric singing of one of my favorite arias as only an Italian can sing it.

  • Isn't this performance lip-synched... possibly to a recording from the 1940s or 1950s?

Still, this is lovely, refined singing from an "old school" which is gone forever.

  • this is a wonderful rendition. Most probably the sweetest one (so far I considered Gigli the champion of it). How old is he here? Thank you!

  • Oh, what lovely tenor singing! This is soooooooo much more like it. I can't tell you how tired I am of tenors who sing lyric roles while trying to sound like Mario del Monaco. Bravo, Tagliavini. a real tenor!

  • how tall was he?

  • What a gorgeous light, lyric tenor! The sweetest, most expressive rendition of this aria I've ever heard! Such legato! He is magnificent, and so is this posting.

Thank you, Onegin65, for this selection, & your impeccable taste!

    Bravo, Onegin65!

    Bravissimo, Maestro Tagliavini!

  • My pleasure

  • This is a beautiful aria, & Tagliavini's rendition is the most touching I have heard.

Many years ago, my husband played it for me, & I have loved it (& my husband!)ever after!

Your Zeani postings, also, are out of this world! Her home is not far from mine, & I visit her frequently. Her physical & vocal beauty, & two outstanding careers nothwitstanding, she remains incredibly seductive, on a personal level, with great intellect, wit, generosity & compassion for others.

    Best wishes!

  • magnifico! hermoso

  • thanks!

  • Bravissimo, signore Tagliavini. Adoro questa voce dolcissima.

What a great performance with so much emotion...

He belongs to my favourite tenors.

Bravo Ferruccio!!

  • what a mezza voce he showed here...

  • Bravissimo, Feruccio. Mille grazie!

  • Such a sweet tone and such an expressive voice

  • i can't think of a better Nemorino.

  • simplemente impresionante.

  • A wonderful voice and performance both!

  • bravvo!!!

  • Meraviglioso: una finezza unica. Bravo Maestro!!

  • Always a great favourite. Thanks for posting this superb artist.

  • Beautiful job. Very interesting that his voice barely changed throughout his career. Gigli was the same case. The only noted changes were in breath and duration but always acceptable.

  • whatch out the body type that best tenors had in the early 1900 ,sort of short and fat ,I don't know if this body type is where to look for the best tenors today though!

  • Then what of the diminutive Josef Schmidt?

  • He's great Maestro!!!!!!
