  • Well done )))))

  • actually Joplin played this faster than most of the modern interpretations I've heard, so stick to it.

  • mjuniorsc, good job. ignore these 'play it a bit slower' ignoramouses. i play this piece *almost* as fast as you.

  • @fopola ok! thanks

  • Great!

  • @pastorsinkau thanks!!

  • Too fast. If you just could play it a bit slower, you would have much bether control, and it would sound bether ;)

  • dang... You make it look so easy, but I know for a fact it's hard... High School Brass has to play it.... Lol this didn'i make me feal any better about it... But let me tell ya, ur playing it prettyu dern epic.

  • The 4th section is the most difficult!!! esapecially with the left hand on 2:56-2:57

  • Nice cut before the 3rd section...I saw ya! :P Nice playing, yeah a bit too fast for my liking but it was very nicely played!

  • @cueshark, It wasn't hard to see, but you seem proude about it ;p

  • Very nice job!!

But the real tempo is Not fast :)

I prefer it a bit slowlier

  • THANKS!!

  • you sure got the feel and the sence of ragtime, yes, Sir....which came first....chicken or egg :-) doesn´t really matter.....the important is this:

    carry on, soldier...........

  • i always pause when turning pages and you did in like 2 miliseconds... lol. nice job. i'm learning this on the clarinet now too.

  • RAg time on clarinet? Put a video up when you learn, wonder how it will sound!!

  • Nice playing! And quick page turns. You never miss a beat. ;o)

    Five stars!

  • i want to learn how to play the piano just so i can play this!

  • Gostei da música, mandou bem cara!

  • eu gostaria de saber se vc consegue tocar "stop time rag", é uma das minhas favoritas

  • oi! eu nao conheço essa musica, vou tentar conseguir a partitura pra gravar!!

  • I think this was played at a nice tempo

  • Oh, how I love those people who read on Wikipedia that Ragtime mustn't be played fast and annoy every Ragtime pianist on Youtube with their endless knowledge about the adequate ragtime tempo...

How ever, a very nice ragtime, though i still prefer the strenouous life rag! :)

  • manoel, eu adorei sua execução, linda, a ultima parte foi vigorosa, bem bonita

  • Muito obrigado!!

  • It's one ofmy favorites rag I can play it in piano ,,,good job :)

  • Isn't it amazing how many people who know nothing about ragtime claim to be an expert on ragtime tempos? And they're all wrong because they have no clue what "fast" was in 1901. The score says "Not Fast", and this performance is not fast. Have a listen to "Ta Ra Ra Boom De Ay" or the Orpheus Overture's can-can for an example of fast tunes that were popular in 1901. Listen to the speed of the bass notes (keep in mind that ragtime melodies are in 16th notes, creating a speed illusion).

  • hey man, I really wanna thank you!!!

Is has been dificult to me to explain this to those people who come to my videos and claim!

  • One of these days I need to try to make a video in under 10 minutes explaining what a march tempo is, what a slow march is, and what Joplin really meant by "fast", using well-known examples like those tunes and Sousa marches. Richard Zimmerman did a seminar on the subject last November ("How Was Ragtime REALLY Played?"), but that was 45 minutes long. I've wanted to do a video on the subject for a couple years now. Just need to sit down and plan it all out, find source recordings, etc.

  • i just learned it. its easy to memorize

  • lol, I just went to competition with a clarinet quartet playing "Easy Winners." I play the solo at 0:50 (well, with another person, back and forth)... :D Very fun and an enjoyable piece!! Bravo on your playing mjuniorsc!! It sounds VERY GOOD!! :)

  • ha i have to play this on my sax :)

  • you are really good.. I am jealous... :-)

  • Intro sounds a bit fast, but rest sounds spot-on. One of my favourite Joplin rags. Well-played!

  • I think it is great. You are playing for fun and not for competition. Don't worry about those others. I like that you add some of your own style into it. Gives the music character. Thanks for sharing as I am learning this one right now.

  • I think this sounds really good. good job!

  • i dunno why that guy is complaining about tempo, it is actually very nice, if he cared to note that Joplin wrote on his rags that ragtime (well his ragtime anyway) was not meant to be played fast. so i'd say this is rather good. well done!

  • I think the syncopation on the last part might be in error. Some notes are to be played slightly earlier in the measure.

  • Really?

Errors are commons in human beings

  • Too common, I guess.

I may be mistaken, but I think the pause that is being repeated in the second quarter of the last part should be only half as long.

I may be wrong, and there may be more versions out there, so it's probably best to check it out.

  • I would recommend a second glance at the tempo indication my friend. When you read this comment, reply to it with the answer of my question. What is the tempo indication given for this song?

  • The tempo indication for this song = PLAY WHATEVER SPEED YOU LIKE

  • no, I'm afraid that's incorrect. It is also 100% true. But first we must decide on a few factors. Was this played with the intentions of accuracy for other people to see what it should sound like, or was this for fun? No hard feelings, as you seem to be giving me. I Wanted to play this song just hearing it here, so if that makes you feel better....

  • I play for everybody, some people will like, some people will not, I don´t care. I just play it.

  • how old r you?

  • This is not your bussines. Man you don´t have a face, you don´t have any video playing piano, so get out, I will block your access to my videos. You HAVE JUST WORDS, and don´t have MUSIC to show.

  • bah..I'm can play this WAY better than you.

  • It is easy to talk. Prove it

  • WTF? This is too fast! Ragtime flows better when it is played SLOW! but anyways u hit the notes alright.

  • ok! Ragtime flows better when it is played FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAST!!!!!!!!

  • Just as it should be. :-) The tempo is perfect. Thanks for sharing

  • ok! I agree !

    thanks!!!

  • It's too fast. And don't do all those tempo mods. Play it straight and relaxed. It's supposed to be beautiful. Joplin couldn't have been clearer when he said "NOT FAST!"

  • Repeating: guys, I understand your sugestionS, BUT I LIKE THIS WAY, thanks, I will play FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSS SSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • Too fast, slow it down. Otherwise you almost have it just throw that music away and try it slowly.

  • guys, I understand your sugestionS, BUT I LIKE THIS WAY, thanks, I will play FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • you are right.

ragtime is no 100-meter-sprint, it's a walk threw a 1910-street and the sun is shining.

it sounds better if you play it slow.

  • This is way to fast. Slow it down and add some embellishment, make it the beautiful piece it should be.

  • As I said :"It was written in 1901,and shows forms of competition, like football, sailing, and horse racing".

This is song is not for sleeping.

    Play better if you can

  • I'm sorry you are incorrect. I own the original sheet music, it says specifically on it Not Fast. At the speed you are missing out on the beauty in the piece. I AM falling asleep because all you are doing is hitting notes, you're not making any music. Slow it down.

  • hahahahahahahaha

  • btw intro was perfectly played. no errors, etc. just a little rushed.. I probably wouldn't have even mentioned it but I really enjoy that part.

  • oh, thanks!!

  • wait who's a dick.I didn't see any negative comments. Anyhow really damned good. The only critique I would donate is the intro.. you kind of blew through it... that's the only slower part of the song. Otherwise A+!!! on a very difficult piece.

  • ok! thanks for your comment!

  • wonderful...! :)

  • Well done !!!

  • thanks!

  • you're a dick...he plays fantastic and it sounds awesome like that!!!

  • This is my favorite Joplin, too...You play it so well...Thanks for posting!

  • Buddy! awesome...just wish I could hear you play a Steinway...

  • Was that a cut at 1:50??

  • yes that was. I played the first time in one day and had to record the second part in another day.

  • @_@ another day, yeah ok @_@

  • awesome i love it!

  • I really admire how you can get it so smooth, especially the third page. Mine is so messy!

  • thaaankss!!

  • Go to 1:05 & 1:25; that is the greatest part of this song

  • I imagine you like "The Cascades" then. :)
