  • Kerri should've gotten a 9.850 just for landing it on one foot! Go Kerri! You're one of the reasons the Magnificent 7 is magnificent! :)

  • I just don't understand why the Russians started crying. I still don't get it. I can understand disappointment but this is bad sportsmanship to me.

  • @GardiniaBloom Many of the other teams believed that the United States was awarded more points throughout the competition than other teams. And, when your country has won every Team gold medal in womens gymnastics at a fully attended olympics it probably hurts.

  • I'm watching this in 2011!!!!!!

  • I'm Canadian and I remember watching these Olympics on TV cheering this team on. Every time I watch this vid I tear up. She was so brave to do the second vault and I'm sure she would do it again and again if given the choice. Awesome!! :)

  • I'm an American and am proud of this team but I can't help but cry when I see the Russians cry because I can feel their pain and the vain of their sacrifice. Not to say that our team didn't work hard and earn every bit of the gold they won, but keep in mind the Russians won EVERY SINGLE TEAM GOLD in the Olympic games since like 1952 (not counting '84 because they didn't attend that one) and you can imagine the shame they were feeling.

  • i not even into gymnastics but I was watching this when it happened. And until this day I still remember the name Keri Strug from the 96 women gymnastic team. One of the greatest moments in American sports.

  • brat dominique just jealous all that attention wasnt on her, she acts so smug here

  • @jukodebu wtf are you talking about???? Asshole...

  • @tmwalkerm He/she is talking about how when Shannon Miller asks Dominique if Kerri is ok, she just ignores the question, and walks away. She was probably upset that she "lost" her all around spot. That is what they were pointing out.

  • The crowd noise was deafening. I remember the Beiijing Olympics being almost as bad. Shame on both countries!

  • @TheSienna29 its called home gym advantage.... you should see NCAA Gymnastics, it means the fans care

  • @TheSienna29 It will always be that way, i man the whole purpose of the Olympics is really national pride....of course if you have the hometown advantage its going to be like that

  • Listen at around 3:33, you can hear Dina's music!

The commentators were WRONG about Roza being on the floor, Dina was indeed on the floor while Kerri was being put on the stretcher. I assume Roza was going during Kerri's vault.

  • @TwisterFlipp95 this is really strange because I thought Dina only used that music in AA...interesting...I think they just played the music lol

  • This time last year i was happy that the americans won the gold but now i am still happy but i see the russians performed badly because of the crowds behaviour, if u just think if the russians hit all their routiens they would of won?

  • no pressure kerri...lol

  • very true i hadn't seen that footage before khollaway, it's nice to see that he really cared. These girls are put through a lot and he really was concerned.

  • Why were none of the other girls upset?

  • What a day, to hear the entire Georgia Dome erupt for the Americans. wow. I thought they would start chanting "Our House!"

  • I think it's lovely to see the replay of the coach's reaction to Stug's injury. Great to see evidence that the coaches really do care about these young girls, not just about the victory.

  • you know what would've been really nice?

if one of kerry's teamates got up onto the podium and motioned to the crowd to quiet down so dina & roza could do their floor routines properly. it would've been very patriotic.

  • it would have been very patriotic and respectful, since the crowd didn't have respect for the other teams

  • @twisterflipp95 I think thats a foolish comment to make. If the american team got up on the podium not only would they have lost points from the team score, but I highly doubt it would have quieted the crowd down. If anything it would have made them louder because they would have assumed that they were celebrating.

Its a nice sentiment in theory, but not really feasible in application.

  • @TwisterFlipp95 It's easy to say that from an outsider's perspective, but do you think you'd REALLY be thinking about that in the moment? Especially since these girls are teens. Maybe the coaches.....but still, it was probably chaos.

  • how come they hav that litle blue mat for when kerri goes but not for when dominique m goes?

  • probably a personal preference.. some like to land with a sting mat some don't

  • its a sting mat up to the gymnast to use

  • Roza was happy after her routine. She was smiling. It wasn't until the score that she started whining about the crowd

  • @ 1:47..this is the part that was shown over and over and over again..It was incredible to see her land this vault on 1 leg..no matter who fell on what..The Magnificant 7 won because they were just plain good...

  • I still can't believe she only got 9.712 on that vault. she stuck it and usually got closer to a 9.8. I was also always surprised that the russians were so shocked they didn't win. they hadn't made the top 2 in many years, but they seemed to feel entitled to the gold.

  • Her form was really bad and she didn't have the height she needed

  • True but they did not know at the time what the scores where from the Floor Exercise. But hey this builds drama and ratings. Keri is now a Legend for breaking her foot. (I know that sounds flippant but its true)

  • Neither the Romanians nor the Russians would have been good people to piss off in the bar after this thing was over. The Americans have cars and homes and boyfriends and social events and travel and all that crap - the Russians and Romanians have gymnastics and country. It had to be devastating for them.

  • yes gymnastics is very important to them, but to basically say that they have no lives beyond that is ridiculous.

  • that is impressive!

  • imagine if she fell on the vault and they got silver. wow, what a dissappointmentt. i don think moceanu had an excusee for sitting down BOTH of her vaults, and puttinn gthat pressure on kerri.

  • Between Kerri's vaults, you see Dominique Moceanu looking close to terrified. Maybe she was anticipating hell to pay from Bela if both his girls screwed up one right after the other.

  • que dor e felicidade ao mesmo tempo

  • Keri's mom's glasses CRACK ME UP

  • keris mom is so hot!

  • oh, sveta's crying just sums up the whole thing for russia :(

  • i'm sure it was disappointing, but they did have many falls on beam.

    they'll be back...always.

  • what georgia did is fucking retarded. I was ashamed as an american then.

  • what did they do?

  • apparently they cheered for their team and country, and that made them bad people. I don't get it either.

  • i don't think it made them bad people...

but looking at it from the other countries perspectives you have to say it must have been a rough olympic games for them.. hard to gear yourself up when you know 30 thousand people in there could care less how you do and want the team in the red white and blue to win over you..

understandable?.. of course.. your American you cheer for your American athletes despite that it still must have been frustrating to be a Romanaian or Russian etc. @ these games

  • ya, esp when the russians have the record of winning like 10 team golds in the past. such a heartbreaking experience for them. they had trained their whole childhood for that moment.

  • @gymnastics46 Maybe you should ask the non-Soviet gymnasts who competed in '80 what that experience was like--competing against a home team who enjoyed overwhelming support from the crowd and ended up winning the team gold, as well as numerous other golds. Must've been rough for them as well.

The noise is part of competing. These athletes are trained to shut that out. They can deal with it, the rest of us should as well.

  • all i know is sassy or scatter or whatever you are going by tonight= always crying about america on multiple gymnastic videos under various names.

    what is your problemo?

if you would act gracious and not like a monster you might get a better response.

    the end.

  • LMAO! by all means sassy, yelp and lick your wounds for all the world to see! hahaha

keri is a hero! and jewish too! bet that really hurts eh?

  • LMAO!! SO true! scatterplot...whatev, go back to your beloved France(which is falling apart from the inside out) and stay there.

  • I love how Bela was truly concerned for Kerri. By the look on his face you could tell he was really worried.

  • @khollaway I don't think so.lol He was worried that Moceanu missed her vault and was no longer going to be in the AA. Kerri he could care less about at that time.

  • very inspirational...

  • and.. Scene!

  • John Tesh I swear she had to vault otherwise they would have lost the medal to the Russians and plus she had no choice she had too. GO KERRI!!!!!!

  • HEY. A have a question for all the boobs outside the U.S.A. Have we Americans EVER won anything outright without it being rigged? I'm just curious. Being made up of millions of people from all parts of the planet, and having training regiments just like other countries, you would think we would actually win something once in a while without "crooked judges" or "bribes" blah blah blah.

  • How bout the Super Bowl? Did Indy actually win or did they bribe the Barcelona Dragons to not show up? At least one of our 2,000 or so Olympic medals is valid, right? You Europeans sure are sore losers for supposedly being such "forward thinkers". What a crop of boobs ya'll are. ROCK ON KERRI!!!

  • I must agree that the Barcelona Dragons were probably not bribed but they are definitely the only ones in Europe who know what´s going on in the American football. And other Europeans? We are at least so modest that we don´t call "World series" each league or competition held in sports that are not practiced anywhere in the rest of the world.

  • Not practiced in other parts of the world? Since when does Japan, China, Taiwan, Brazil, Columbia, Puerto Rico, Canada (all countries that play baseball, along with several others, per your "world series" comment) not count? People from those countries may take that as an insult...especially Japan, a country that has been playing baseball since the 1890's. Almost as long as the U.S.A.

  • Wrong. #1.None of those countries participate (at the pro level) as far as having a state government back them. But every U.S. baseball team has numerous players that come from those countries, and that learned their skills while playing in those countries, so what different does that make. Sounds kinda racist.

  • #2.There are several levels of world series games in baseball that do involve the U.S.A. not only playing only 1 or 2 countries, BUT THE WORLD. Learn about the sport before you comment, and by "learn about the sport", I don't mean limit yourself to pro teams like The Yankees. That kind of baseball represents a very small percentage of participation in our country, and 99.9% of baseball players never play it.

  • Modest? LOL!

First of all, like I said (in my other comments in this chain) There are several "World Series" games played in the U.S.A., not just at the professional level. Now, then, as for Americans not being modest because we call it the World Series...lets disect that. Who do you think named it that? Do people from other countries think we held an election here and the American people voted for "World Series"?

  • I'm sure it was the higher ups in baseball (maybe turn of the century owners, I really have no idea), but it wasn't us. Lets assume that it was the players themselves, though. They, in professional play, make up less than 1% of baseball players, but heck, lets say they make up 10% (1 in 10).

  • Are you going to sit there with a straight face, not giggle, and tell me 1 out of 10 Europeans isn't arrogant, and that 9 out of 10 Europeans are sooo incredibly modest (pardon me while I laugh so hard I shoot pop through my nose) that they would NEVER call it that? LMFAO! You guys are even less modest than us, All you have to do is read comments in YouTube to see that.

  • I'll give you just one example: I like sports, and read LOTS of sports posts. Lets talk about gymnastics posts. There are alot of Americans that post nothing but insults, to be sure. Can't argue that. They don't strive for objectivity, they just hurl B.S. BUT, there are a lot of Europeans that do the same.

  • THE DIFFERENCE IS THIS: A lot of American gymnasts and gymnastics fans ADORE European gymnasts, and, in posts, I see them (Americans) giving high praise and credit to them (Europeans) where credit is due. I have yet to see that happen one time, JUST ONE TIME, THE OTHER WAY AROUND. But you guys are more modest. Sure, buddy. And we know...your farts smell like cotton candy, too.

  • I must admit that I don´t ADORE any US gymnast (I LIKE many of them but my ADORATION belongs to such lovely girls like Izbasa, Kochetkova, Karpenko, Kozich, Dudnik, Laschenova and others none of whom is, unfortunately, American). But I fully respect American gymnasts´s qualities and agree that they deserved this title. And I see many European fans really can´t take it this way.

  • Personally, I prefer the nickname Alicia Sackabaloney ;-)

  • You know, I've noticed the same thing about Americans being pretty good about acknowleging other countries. BUt when it comes to music fans, international music fans love American music. with sports- whole different story.

  • Oh, god. I just noticed these last two comments of yours or I would have never even have replied to you. Reading them and visiting you channel allows me to know everything I need to know about you: France + 22 years of age = Rude, young punk YouTube flamer that only types empty garbage fonts with no substance.

  • multiple IDs? how embarrassing. lolol seems you are the one taking this all so seriously, hag. :)

  • ...multiple id's?...of course, a quick glance at my channel page would tell you i'm 23 (which is actually a different number from 22) and i'm an american who lived in france for a few months, hence "Country: France"

  • somebody can say to me that it hears during the conversation between Shannon Milller and Dominique Moceanu?

  • Shannon: Is she OK?

    Dominique: I don't know.

  • but after?

  • its more interesting Kotchekovas routine

  • Probably the most memorable time in American gymnastics history. Thank you, Kerry. :)

  • I know you probably don't care, but it's spelled Kerri.

  • Wasn't thanking you. People spell my name wrong all the time. Deal with it.

  • I know you weren't thanking me you prick!

  • Ouch. I'm crying.

  • Sorry. Really I am. Let's just forget this and watch the video.

  • that's such b.s. there were foreign judges there and they were way ahead of russia anyway.

  • This was the most pivotal moment in Gymnastics history, mpo. Thank you for capturing it and sharing.

  • can you post the part where they play the national anthem and leave the stadium? this would be part 13

  • wow, that brought back the memories. This is something that has stuck with me for a long time. Go Magnificent 7!

  • i was in the crowd, it was amazing

  • Amazing if The Americans win anything its' always fixed...Idiots.

  • Neither could Kochetkova who was performing as Kerri Strug was being carried off and as Kerri's score was being posted (starting at 2:41)

  • Bitter that the Romanians sucked in 96?

  • Sorry about insulting you. But ofcourse it was going to be a heavy american crowd. It was in the U.S and kinda hard for alot of Romanian and Russian fans to get there say as if the games were in Europe. And it was a big deal for the Americans we had a great team and had the best chance to win gold that we had ever had. To the Romanians and Russians that not such a big deal to be in the position to win.

  • I understand it; but still, it was a problem for the athletes, not for us who just watched. And getting to win is a big deal for just any team; just because some did it more times doesn`t make it any easier. The Magnificent 7 were a great team... still I liked the Russians best ;-)

  • @beatriceamg And the multiple falls by the Russians? They counted a low score, the American's didn't. And a low score due to a large error...not a conspiracy.

  • Aww how nice of you. I hope you didn't put much thought into that ignorant statement. And where are all the British Gymnasts? oh that's right watching from the stands.

  • lol

  • Karoly should have NOT made her do that second vault. She's still suffering effects from this, or so I've heard.

  • It's the Olympics and you only get one chance. Of course she didn't have to do it, but she did. What an amazing Olympic moment.

  • i wouldn't mind having an impaired leg for the rest of my life to be an olympic gold medalist.

  • also, karoly did not force her, he encouraged her and that is not forcing.

  • Yes, what you say is ridiculous! Keri made a free choice, and even if as you say her leg is permanently impaired, I guarantee she doesn't regret her her decision in the slightest. Without her the Magnificent Seven would never have existed.

  • @frostdiamond1 K let's not go overboard here lol. Yes she did the vault and absolutely does not regret it. But in hindsight, she was ONE member of a SEVEN member team, EVERYONE contributed to the team winning gold, not just Kerri. And the way the numbers worked out, she didn't need to do the last vault for them to win gold. The Magnificent Seven was TEAM, not just one person, and she's the first to say that she didn't do it alone.

  • @tmwalkerm Yes, I know. I wrote that comment a long time ago (before I realized the numbers would have added up anyway), and my vehemence was in response to someone who claimed Bela made her do that vault, which is still completely ridiculous. Bela gets an unfairly bad rep from many fans.

  • @frostdiamond1 And while all you say is definitely true, I do think, necessary or unnecessary, the dramatic end to this meet did elevate the Mag 7 to a legendary status it wouldn't have attained otherwise. All gymnasts/fans would have remembered and revered them, but even people who would never watch gymnastics still remember this. It was the storybook ending to a great Olympic moment.

  • @frostdiamond1 I figured that was where you were going, thanks for clarifying :).

  • @tmwalkerm Actually the scores were different when Kerri did the second vault. The numbers only worked out to show that she didn't need the second vault because the russian who performed on the floor after her vault screwed up her routine. Had she not done the vault, and the last russian doesn't mess up, the USA would have lost...period.

  • @frostdiamond1 Watch Magnificent 7 anything to win, "I think it would have been horrible to just walk away, and for the rest of my life wonder. If I had done it, would I have made it. Would we have won the gold, would we have not." - Kerri Strug

  • cam u imagine how much she would have regretted it had she not done it??

  • She hurt herself more on the second vault. After the first she was barely limping

  • this is the one moment in olympic history i will never forget and that i was watching . . . GO KERRI SHRUG!

  • I absolutely second that.aaaaaaaaaaaaaa

  • Best Gymnastics Ever
