  • Poverty? You call that poverty? Just because you Americans live in big ass houses with thousands of useless rooms with hundreds of Ferraris and millions of iPhones, doesn't mean anything below that is automatically poverty. This is pretty much standard living in eastern European countries.

  • is that a ghetto ? or a dangerous district ?

  • @GTAMissionSA No, it's neither. This is pretty the Eastern European standard no-one should be scared of. There are normal people living inside; a ghetto looks different.

  • fucking stray dogs

  • in Bulgaria is the same old soviet blocks

  • But Kiev is not too poor city in comparison with all other small towns in Ukraine. I`m live in Kiev but when i come to small country - i allways wonder how these common ukrainian people lives.

  • This poverty caused by very corrupted government. Ukrainian state is the heir of Soviet state, which can`t operate good by laws. When soviet bureaucrats wanted to resolve some problem - they rather called each other and resolved it than did it by law.

For example - the President of Ukraine Yanukovich sat in prison two times in his youth)) Only corruptioners and criminals by the power in Ukraine now.

Average salary is only 300 US dollars per month but ukrainian oligarchs are richest in Europe.

  • remind me my town where I was born

  • So, things might be harder here, but I think that Ukraine is a lovely place.

  • such a shame.I hate my county.

  • If you’ve got money in the USA it’s okay, if you don’t you’re rather stuck… Extortionate third level fees (poverty trap), privatised health care, racial problems/segregation…I don’t know why anyone from the Ukraine would chose to live there over the EU?

  • same shitty ghetto "music" just a different language.

  • @liljgoneman

Should I choose Mozart or what?

  • @UkraineAlex1 i like the music alex, could you please send me the name of the artist and song?

  • @opiumjoop

  • @liljgoneman

Only the Ukrainians have the right to be wigger has it's one of the few white nations with 3rd world conditions.like dark skinned nations.

  • It's sad , most american don't have any clue how well they have it. Poor people in USA has cell phones, flat screen tv and can buy 100 dollar Jordan's shoes. Most people who are poor in USA are just plain lazy and choose to be poor. Poor people in USA have it better than middle managment families in most countries. I have travel to other countries and also live in USA. Ignorance are self induced in USA.

  • Schöner wohnen in kiev!

  • Did anyone help that doggie at 1:03 ? :(

  • @XsoEmiXD Friend, these dogs are very boring. Several times per year in Kiev happens incidents, when that wild dogs beats childrens. But government does nothing for this problem.

I former motorcyclist and these dogs bites me several times.

  • @wingman662

Yeah except nobody in the usa is truly poor, your wonderful government takes care of you with welfare and etc. there is no welfare in eastern europe. You're on your own. If you cannot find work in moscow russia or anywere in the ukrain, thats it, you're starving.

  • I'm from the US. Much respect for all the people living in these conditions. I thought people had it bad here. HA!

  • Loock ferentari(Bucharest)

  • @antinuke1 :))))))

  • You've never seen real poverty

  • @schlagerhansi

Neither have you, you spoiled american.

  • I want to learn Ukrainian and move there. That place looks...extraordinary.

  • 50,000 People used to live here. Now it's a ghost town. JK!!! Great Vid!

  • Drive through poor areas of Chicago - same thing.

I have such high hopes for Ukraine! I wish someday for Ukraine to be a wealthy prosperous nation. If Ukrainians love their country like I think they do, they will be a great nation!

  • Comment removed

  • @saintarctangent

These areas are not poor areas. In this district, which is shown in the video, only ordinary people live. The poor people live in much worse conditions.

  • @UkraineAlex1 I'm not sure what you're looking for Alex. If it's sympathy, not from me - I respect Ukraine too much. New democratic nation not a few decades after having a command economy. Like early US. If Ukrainians are as nationalistic as I think they are, I have high hopes. A people who don't like their country will never proper. Ukraine has all the ingredients for a vigorous economy - it'll just take some more time and self determination.

  • @UkraineAlex1 Per capita income of US is much more than Ukraine and many other former Soviet satellite countries, but the cost of living is much higher in the US too. Americans these days have too much expectations for their material things. With such great material expectations, the US economy will eventual fall farther If Ukrainians can focus on developing a corruption free gov't instead of iphones (like US), then they'll be fine. Let's see what happens in 20 years :-)

  • @UkraineAlex1 I agree. I had visited Kiev about 6 times the last few years. My wife lived in Brovary, which was very similar to this. Its not that bad, I wouldn't call it completely "ghetto", but its also not a suburban area with houses e.t.c. What can they do, when salary is very low, rent isn't that cheap in such complexes. Areas shown in the video are from the '60's explosion of Russian cement buildings that popped up all over the place. Apartments can be nice on the inside.

  • @saintarctangent '

Lol you're a fucking idiot, No city in USA has any sort of poverty compared to Russian or Serbian cities.

  • That is Ukraine ?? fuck is similar to Mexico, belivime im mexican .....

  • @Kruskot

Is it positive or negative that it is similar to mexico? :D

  • @UkraineAlex1 Jaja i dont know, may be negative !! :P in mexico is worse... :/ of course some places !!

  • Name of the song?

  • SVR keep talking shit

  • Typical Soviet-era socialist buildings.

  • I think that Ukrainian can do better by staying there. Your Country is getting poorer and it needs you. I don't really understand how they live in poor conditions. Although, Ukraine is a beautiful and rich country. Also, I believe that being poor in Ukraine is better than in USA because most of the people in this countrie live on big debts.

I really feel sorry for you Ukrainian people, especially for the innocent girls who end up in the sex industry. You, Ukrainian, deserve better...

  • I luv this city, so communist and so grey! just like my bucharest :D I hope I'll get there someday

  • It look like Singapore to me all highrise apartment in the city

  • @invisibleisolation Bosnia-Herzegowina ;) Wow, my english is not perfekt. no problem, i can also speak german, french or polish if you want. no, you don't know other languages.. bad yes? if bosnia would be" your country" you could live there, but you can't and thats good because we don't need any more americans here.

You are the hole time liing. You have no work but computer and electricety and time for playing with it..

  • @invisibleisolation "MrMudmouth When was there a war in Ukraine? " See, what you wrote. If you would know, something about east-europe, you would know very well, which wars there were. but for american it's difiicult i know, you only learn something about your own country :D

  • @invisibleisolation :D you have no stable place to live but time to discuss such stupid things in youtube. and if you hade the money to go to east europe many times, don't tell you're poor. bosnia is not the most poor country there, but even there not all people can buy a computer. you are american, you don't know what poverty means. and in bosnia many people really don't have a home

  • @invisibleisolation Of course.. But money for Laptop or Mobile or something like that you have. Don't tell any people, that you have to live in poverty in the USA. You haven't been in the east of europe or asia or something like this, because if you would have been, you wouldnt tell shit like this.

  • What poverty?

  • @invisibleisolation If you would have to live in poverty, you wouldn't have money for internet.

  • Cool arichitecture! Gettho but somehow nice!^^

  • @invisibleisolation why do you brag with that? i have family in america i visited much citys ny, oakland where my uncle lives and la. ghetto? no way^^ you're simply determined a spoiled kid. but anyway why do you wanna brag with such a bad think? you think you are a bad ass? This is a serious topic not a "who is the coolest gangster in the hardest ghetto" contest. come on.. grow up! english...

  • @invisibleisolation lol "nasty slums & dirt roads" dont make me laugh mate. im not even going to explain to you why your wrong because i know you wont listen. Your just another american that for some reason likes to argue about who has it worse. you have no idea about the history of these places and i doubt you have ever been there so what i will say is do a bit of research.

oh and im welsh not american

  • @MrMudmouth It's impossible to discuss with this american guy. He says he lives on the street, but has electricety and much more. He wants to lie, so that we think he has a poor live. But do you know why? I can't. He should be happy, that he doesn't has to live in poverty.

  • @invisibleisolation

Ok, now I see your problem...I think every country after living in germany is poor for you! But what do you understand under "poverty"? Do you have no water, or only cold water all the year? Do you have no heating?

Do you suffer from hunger? Because these examples are very typical in the ukraine.. And bye the way: you told me about south side of chicago... Is this a ghetto for you?

    /watch?v=YogEnpK5H5o

  • @invisibleisolation

The problem is, ..where have you been in these countries??

Have you been for example in moscow in russia and visited only the centre of the beautiful city?

Or did you also visited the suburbs where the "normal residents" and not the rich ones are living..

If you would visit these areas, than your oppinion about the USA would be different...because I've been to the USA 2 years ago..and the country is a much better place to live than for example ukraine or russia.

  • @UkraineAlex1 hmmmmm I would invite you to visit places in the US where only really poor people live.... ghettos and slums where there is nothing but trash, filth, drugs, gangs..... where people work two jobs and still can't get out of poverty.

I've been to Budapest and saw many people who lacked material things, but were very happy, much happy than a lot of people I saw in America.

  • @TheYaom

Man I would love to go to the USA. You think only USA has problems with filth, drugs or gangs? Come on, you have all the possibilities which you don't have here in Ukraine. While the GDP in the USA is 46.800$, the GDP in Ukraine is 2400$. More than 19.000.000 million people have to live with less than 3$ per day. In the 90s, the mafia controlled most of the regions in Ukraine,so there was big corruption. Many people died every day for no reason. Now the mafia controlls the politicians.

  • @UkraineAlex1

I understand that Kiev is a quite big city with around 2 million people in it.

I am Danish, and Im quite curious about life in the Ukraine. Can a person create a better future for oneself and ones family? And is a ukraine a good country for going to vacation in? :) :) If I go to vacation there with me and my father, is there any dangers of any kind? :) :) Just interested

  • @MrJacobfromDenmark

I think it would be interesting for you to visit Kiev. (The population is 6million).

Of course there are dangers, but every big city has these problems. I recommend you to visit the suburbs where the most of the people in Kiev live. It would be interesting for you to drive with the transport (Marshrutka), but don't be scared of the bad conditions of the streets, the blocks and the transport. And no, I don't recommend you to create a future for your family in the ukraine!!

  • @UkraineAlex1 The problem is that many people in the US are really fucking thick, and you would have to put with them, and that can be difficult.

  • @invisibleisolation

Yes of course...The USA is the biggest piece of garbage in the world. It is the most horrible place to live in the world, thats why so many people from all over the wolrd migrate to the USA.

Many people from other countries would be happy to live in trailer parks....and east european countries don't have slums and dirt roads?!?! If you think so, than you have never been to east european countries man.. And where are the slums in the USA? I have never seen one before..

  • take a look at russian ghettos, my friends :D

  • @partykiddy3

They are the same like the ukrainians..

  • @invisibleisolation oh my god please tell me that was a joke. you have no idea of the state of some of these eastern europian countries or the people who live there. These people migrate because of war and fear of there lives, you dont see americans migrating to other countries because of war and corruption do you?

  • Man, you're wrong calling Troya "ghetto". Yes, Troya is outskirts of the city, yes there're lots of problems there but "ghetto" is something different, I suggest you to read definitions of "ghetto" on the web.

And why do you write "In this district ... live more than 1.000.000 people"??? Why do you write false information?

  • @invisibleisolation

I think you don't want to see the circumstances in villages in the ukraine. They're horrible!

And I also think you don't want to see these building from inside! ;)

Be happy to live in the USA man, you have much more possibilities than in every other country of the world!

  • Auf dieses Video antworten... poor? ok, the flats are ugly, but look at the cars driving there...:)

  • Cool video. How old is it? Gruss, M.

  • no offence.....I dont believe in hell but if I were to imagine hell it would be like this... [bt I like the music... ]

  • Comment removed

  • nazwe tego aetysty bym prosił

  • whats the music?

  • It poor because of Neo-liberalism. They let in rich people in thinking they will build the country up but they end up plundering the natural resources and taking them out of Ukraine which is the same thing they did in South America until recently.

  • this is something else like :O

makes the american ones and hackney and that look tame

  • I watched a lot of videos about ghetos Paris, London etc. But common this is just on another level. Btw I am not Ukrainian, French or English.

  • @manvyd

It is just on another level, because France, England and other west european countries are one of the best and most educated countries of the world..I live in germany now and it was the best decision I could do in my life to move here. It is a completely different world!

I finnaly have hot water in my flat..the first time in my life!!! :D

  • @UkraineAlex1 wo wohnst du jetzt?

  • @HHTheCity

  • i miss her every single day...my heart hurts!

  • @UkraineAlex1 A , ja z Donezka ^^ i tosche perijexal w germany ^^ 7 let nazad ;D

  • THis music is ugly by the way, and in no way representative of ukrainian music

  • YOUR CAMERA IS DIRTY, have you noticed?

  • @tinaluvsjesus1 my dad survived the famine in 1932-33.he never really spoke about apart from when he was dying.he protected us from man;s inhumanity to his fellow man.I partly see my role in this life to educate people about Ukraine and why ,now we have boxers-KLITSCHKOS-that dominate with self belief and physical ,athletic ability. I used to think I was the only one in this english city who understood the forbidden history of Ukraine. We are many,we are one,we are Strong!-KLITSCHKO'S.Slava!

  • Still hasn't recovered from socialism! Even though the U.S.S.R. collapsed, Russia and many East European nations' markets are still quite oppressive!

  • What do people have to do in a built up conctrete area like that to do for young, (especially the younger), I see lots of buildings?.. What do they do to entertain themselves?

  • @helicoptered

They drink, smoke and take drugs ;)

Not all people..but many..(I say this from personal experience)

  • @UkraineAlex1 Ok, that's fair.. if there's not much to do, there)) do some of the lads give their butt out, same for chicks too?

  • I want to get to the root of these problems and rid them from your society forever! And hopefully one day Ukraine will prosper and live to its great potential.

  • @jehovahhasheard

    I hope so too!

  • Cont..

Ukrainians will resort to drug abuse due to poverty and lack of education..

And because of the drug increase, HIV has dramatically increased also due to needle-sharing. I have read about the corruption within the police and Government of Ukraine, although I don't know enough details..

  • Cont..

So why does this happen in Ukraine..? Can someone please fill me in with details. I read about the horrors of human-trafficking as well as the drug problem - the location of Ukraine makes it a cross-road for drug trafficking from the Middle-East into Europe...

  • Cont..

Here in Canada, unlike other immigrants, The Ukrainians were able to adapt and assimilate very easily. They are friendly, law-abiding and hard-working people and many have become successful engineers, teachers, business/land owners etc

  • Cont..

I have also researched Communism and learned about the Jewish-Bolshevik Revolution, which nearly obliterated Ukraine and murdered most of its best people.

Then in WW2, Ukraine suffered more losses/deaths than anywhere else - In fact, during WW2 more Ukrainians than Jews died.. Yet all I ever hear about is the "Holocaust"

  • I don't understand exactly why poverty is so rampant in Ukraine.. isn't it one of the most fertile countries in Europe..?

Ukraine probably has enough land and agriculture to supply produce to all of Eastern Europe..

Forgive me, I don't know enough details about the country as I should, although I have read that after the collapse of the Soviet Union the economy crippled terribly..

  • @jehovahhasheard

Well...Africa is the most fertile continent in the world, but also the poorest one.

It is hard to find the reason of poverty in Ukraine. After the sovjet union, ukraine became poorer and poorer and had bad circumstances. And now it gets even more worse!

  • @jehovahhasheard

They gave the state companies to the mafia which is made of ex-communists influent people. At least they're lucky to have this buildings. Here in Brazil most of the people live in shacks in slums called "Favelas".

  • @theCuno100 ...whenever I give an example of a great country I say this country may be ghettoish and dirty but the country isn't over populated it has perfect climate in the summer and spring not hot not to cold and when you go to the usa its ghetto and over populated and polluted my family heritage is ukrainian. My Grandma was born in kharkiv and she moved to ukraine for a month or two and said if she had the money shed go back and back and again every single year and she said it was amazing

  • @palmtreeman22

    Yes, thankfully!

  • That's not what it looks like anymore, bro. Things change. : )

  • @hall47

What do you mean with "that's not what it looks like anymore"??

I filmed this video a few month ago.. ;)

  • @UkraineAlex1 Guess that's the bad part of Kyiv, then.

  • @hall47

If you are in the centre of kiev, then it looks beautifull.

But if you are in the other boroughs like desna (where it looks only like in this video) or obolon and darnytsia you will find many places like these ones. Do you live in Kiev?

  • @UkraineAlex1 I'm from there, I might move back when I'm older.

  • @hall47

don't do it..better stay where you are now..in the usa right? =D

  • @UkraineAlex1 I pretty much hate it here. I'm thinking of moving back and joining the military.

  • @hall47

    What?!

I can give you some advice...DON'T join the military in the ukraine!! ;)

Better join it in the usa, because in ukraine all the military stuff is from the soviet times and like 20-30 years old..

  • @UkraineAlex1 Doesn't really matter to me..I hate the American Military.

  • Interesting song.
