  • god that's good. god that's good. :-)

  • i was cleaning my home just now and saw this and turned it on and she has a way of drawing you in with that voice i now am glued to the screen

  • i will always love you ,bea !!!! RIP...,

  • I think that one of Bea's last cameos was in "Curb your Enthusiasm" when Larry goes to Heaven, and then they send him back down because He's such a downer. Elaine Stritch was supposed to have played Dorothy, but Stritch was Stritch and did not impress Susan harris. Always loved Bea, and my Dad had a big crush on her.

  • When Estelle forgot her lines - Bea would beat her with a stick she kept in her dressing room !!!!

  • Rue, in her autobiography, said that Bea and Betty had lunch together every day, and that there was perhaps a bit of friction since Bea was used to a leading role, and she was the last to win an emmy of the three leads. Rue said that there was very little friction, however, and that they were all very professional. I think Bea has a bit of an ego when it comes to her acting, and wanted it to be "her" show, but it was ensemble. However, Rue spoke very highly of Bea in her book.

  • "walter wanting to study the organ. . .i mean what kind of nonsense is that?" lmfao. priceless

  • Bea was a class act and a consummate professional...In "Maude" and "Golden Girls", I thought she was brilliant...So natural and so believable...Bea played outspoken and authoritative characters very well.

  • I have always heard Betty and Bea did not get along

  • "i love dick...he's delicious!" lol...oh i love bea!

god bless her soul! r.i.p. "pussycat"

  • may she rest in peace..no one like her.

  • I love her. What an amazing actress.

  • They just announced Bea Arthur passed away. A comic legend and i enjoyed her wit and talent. Her comic timing was genius. Rest in peace

  • This is my husband and this is his hair.

and then Betty White says: Nice to meet you both

  • omg, what she says about golden girls is absolutely spectacular.

  • I always felt like there was some rift between Bea and Betty. Not a huge one but a little bit of a cold tone.

  • That rumor may have started with one of the later episodes, when Bea seems to ignore Betty in one of the scenes, after Betty asks her a question.

  • Really? I always thought Bea and Rue were the two who had their differences.

  • But all that was many years ago, and only a few years ago Bea, Betty & Rue did appear together to promote "The Golden Girls" on DVD.

So perhaps either Bea & Betty straightened things out or, with their advanced ages, just forgot why they were mad at each other in the first place. I mean, you can even see in this interview (which was recorded eight years ago) Bea is showing signs of memory loss.

  • I also think White sometimes takes a little, sneaky delight in speaking off-color, something she learned about herself from her character on "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."

Anyway, I hope that shed some light on the alleged "Golden" feud, and also the personalities of these two legendary actresses.

But all that really matters, to us as fans, is the fine work these women did on a beloved TV series, not some petty squabbling that may or may not have occurred 20 years ago.

  • I love these interviews... Bea is a national treasure. I wish, however, that the interviewer was more skilled..... Better questions, with less reticence.

  • My favourite of 'The Golden Girls'. Bea is a gem.

  • She is so Awesome and so cool that she watches GOLDEN GIRLS

  • Bea is so fantastic, great interview!

  • Bea= gold. friggin love her.

  • I love Bea with all my heart. Her one-woman show with Mr. Goldenberg was just great!

  • Elaine Stritch was up for the part of Dorothy, but pissed off Susan Harris LMAO! Lucky for Bea!

  • Bea was a star before Golden Girls, during and after! Lucky for us!!! that she was cast! The show was pure magic, 4 amazing actresses plus a Stan Zbornak and man oh man, the greatest show ever!
