  • this guy is an awsome sitar player

  • I don't understand how this isn't more popular. I love it!

  • about to buy a sitar i cant wait

  • who is this tabla player!?!?!?

  • Repetitions are noticeable and sound is not perfect, prasanna has a nice hing going, with practice he will master it.

  • that tabla player has got insane rhythm

  • that must be a pain to tune

  • my fingers are killing me !

it is fun to play to

  • watched this in music class today, pretty sick

  • Owning sitar would be awesome.

  • Mastering this Instrument will be difficult

  • This guy has a very unique style of playing in comparison to other YouTube videos.. It seems to be a much cleaner style, leaning more to a lagato sound more so then staccato like most sitarists play.. I love his type of playing, can't wait to get my sitar!

  • how many strings has a Sitar?

  • @MUSIC200756 Usually 20

  • absolutely mesmerizing. what a beautiful instrument. A incredible addition to music.

  • i wonder how much weed that guy smoked look at his fuckin eyes hahahaha

  • this is so cool!!!!!! omg

  • I want to learn how to play this o.o anyone know how much a sitar costs??

  • @choTsukiyomi825 If you are lucky like me you can find a decent starter for $400 (I love craigslist!). I imagine his sitar is most likely worth several thousand though. Try to find a used one because a low price new one will likely be a very "american" overproduced sitar (even if it says it is built in India, most sitars are, it doesn't mean it's authentic) research it! Get excited about it! Decide how many strings you want and how much you are willing to put down for it.

  • i love mohammed rafi lata mangeshkar and this music master piece it is so relaxing greetings from israel

  • Can we please post the names of all the artists and pieces when we publish music on you tube?

  • jbieb<3 is so much better he has more sold so many more albums

  • 12 dislikes....heck I bet those twelve do not like bagpipe music either....,.

    Philistines....this is good stuff.....

  • the raag is the way you play the notes in a particular scale, there is also a fixed melody in a slow 16 beats in the first part(actually vilambat gat in teental), you can tell where that is as the tabla player takes a solo, in between the sitar improvises with phrases of varying lengths. it is improvised because it is never the same twice, but it obeys strict rules designed to give each raag a distinct character

  • india seems to me to be such a different world and culture..

  • I really enjoyed this. But I can't help but wonder how much is improvised?

Also, the bongo player deserves a thumbs up as well because he is also very talented!

I worked as a professional busker for a year in the UK as a guitarist. Somehow I think there is an opening for this spectacular music in the UK...

  • @amdestuiani That's perfectly normal. I don't play sitar, but I do play the cura saz, a Turkish instrument that's vaguely similar. In non-Western music, things can be different - I know that for guitar, there is an accepted standard tuning, but for sitar the tunings vary from teacher to teacher, area to area. Sitar frets are actually movable, so you can change where they're placed to suit the raga. And anyway, I'm sure such a distinguished player wouldn't play on a sitar with missing frets. :)

  • It is a beautiful soulful song that I hope never ends.

  • the frets don't look natural... there are like missing frets is that natural for a sitar?

  • bravo to these great musicians!!

  • @Sealord75369 Wrong, sitar is probably so much harder to play and whatnot then a guitar. fuck you

  • @DingusMalingus696969 I LOVE YOU

  • @RETROPARTYBOY LOLHI

  • @Sealord75369 you can learn like 5 songs in a week with a guitar.... with a sitar you can maybe learn 1 if your lucky....

  • @Sealord75369

clearly you are the retard i want to see you play a minute of this

  • What is the problem to publish the name of the player? Tricks+poli? Tradition in India to announce 2 generation during performance. Guru and shishya..

  • 12 people think justin bieber classifies as music

  • @skittlz575 THE SONGS ARE NOT IMPROVISED! BUT! ARE BASED ONA A RAAG! and is created on the spot! using the specific raga notes!

  • @pree710 Try meditating when you're not high

  • Somehow I have a sneaking suspicion that they're not really playing a piece, but just having one long jam session.

  • @EVLWNS thats because they do. but in classical hindustani music you have ragas which are basically a set of notes, and a mood, around which you are allowed to improvise ^^

  • This guy is kickass at the Sitar.

  • I just think of Demyx.. and India... and curry... and belly dancing..

  • I'm convinced after watching this that I would be a good sitar player. It'd be just like playing DADGAD. Well, not just like it. But similar.

  • im going to watch the whole 32 minutes

  • @dass0137 I play this on replay everynight while I sleep, really relaxing

  • do they improvise songs like this, or do they actually plan it out note by note?

  • I want to play Sitar Hero.

  • @YoshiShell actually I think its pretty hard even on beginner :D

  • @YoshiShell amen

  • The key to this music is consciousness: the sitar is playing and beautiful music comes out. It's so simple yet so beautiful.

  • @liuton2005 I think that's how music in general works.

  • Beautiful! Thank you.

  • awesome SUFI music

  • blues meets sitar ..

    whats not to love?

  • maravilloso!!!

  • @tylern14 - they are called tabla(s)

  • 11 people have no taste in music.

  • What are those type of drums called?

  • @tylern14

    those drums are called "tabla"

  • Wow..with each other to the last note..wonderful..and i think the sitar palyer has got a serene beauty about him...i'm sure his wife (i'm being presumptious here) sees him as very beautiful...but as the saying goes...'beauty is in the eye of the beholder'...

  • Just amazing.....

  • Fall me asleep!

  • stop that inside beauty crap!

  • Ich schmelze dahin, wenn ich dieses Kleinod instrumentaler Vollkommenheit zu Gehör bekomme...

Vielen herzlichen Dank für's Hochladen !

  • The music is amazing. Perhaps if we didn't live in a society that puts a greater preference on a music artist's looks than their musical ability, than the state of our music industry would be a whole lot, dare I say, prettier.

  • @RipleyisBA oh well we can let everyone live in their own stupid little worlds while we keep the good stuff for ourselves

  • Helo. what is artist name please :)

  • This music is simply amazing this video alone inspired me to buy and learn to play the sitar. I envy this MAN

  • 1:25 WOW he's hot :D

  • How superficial to make such a fuss of what the man looks like! (70 votes today that support a comment on his unattractiveness) We judge people here for the music they make or for their faces, or what? The handsomest guys can be the biggest creeps, trust me, I've been around.

Beauty comes from within. Physical beauty wears off and gets unnoticed after a while, but beauty from the heart and soul does not.

  • this reminds me of super mario in lethal lava land

haha. Indian music is so interesting

  • Great layer,

    whats the raag?

  • Comment removed

  • @thesillofthedoor

yeah...i think it's Raga Madhuvanti, but im not sure though haha.

  • @crazyrocker3

Thanks,I'll go with that for now and see how well it fits...

  • @crazyrocker3

sounds like raag kirwani, at least the swars match its simple structure S R g M P d N

(with M = shuddh madhyam), there is no shuddh dhaivat, no teevra madhyam and seemingly aroh/avroh is sampoorn unlike madhuvanti... no?

  • This is really beautiful. Thanks for posting. But does anyone know who that sitar player is?

  • Beautiful performance

  • sounds like when i have to tune my guitar hah but still really good

  • who is the sitarist here ? can any one tell me ?

  • How does he make the twang with his drum?

  • @nodollarsign It's a Tabla drum. It's in their construction. They have multiple resonators inside. I think.

  • his sitar looks like a bong this music is awsome its relax'n and trippy

  • is this really one song...

  • 11 people here was beaten and tormented by their parents

  • @hbb911. The taal is EkTaal. 12 beat Rythmic cycle. played as

Dhin Dhin Dhaghe Trkt Tu Na/ Ka Tha Dhaghe Trkt Dhin Na. Best.

  • Comment removed

  • @NMTabla. hi, please could you tell me which taal you are playing att 21:45 into this video. i have tried a lot to understand what the bools are but yet i have not figured it out. it would be great if you could tell me the name of the taal or the basic bools of the taal. thanks.

    Greetings from Germany

    WOLF

  • This is like some kinda unharmful high

  • This is the most melodius sitar piece I've ever heard. The raaga captures the mystical air of the instrument and the uplifting tempo and variations on the theme are awesome. This makes for great relaxation and very energizing Probably Raaga kirwani although I am not sure.

  • the tabla player is pretty darn good as well.

  • I need to go back to Amsterdam, even the ugly women looked like models and you could buy weed anywhere.

The US needs to hurry up and legalize it, cause it's just too much of a hassle right now, and It's hard to smoke up when your thinking about how the cartels in Mexico have killed like 29,000 people.

  • Oxoc108, I believe it sounds like rag Kirwani?

  • what are the drums called?

  • @Zapp77

From what I understand, the drums are called "Talba". There's probably precise names for both of them, or even various names for both; but "Talba" should be enough in Youtube or any search engine to get you close.

  • @Eagleye735495 "Tabla" not "Talba". Just to sort out any confusion that might occur.

  • do u know the¨name of this artist ?

  • the way he shakes the neck on that thing, it makes me think that it ways a ton

  • @aSimulatedHigh it's actually a very light instrument XD i was sort of amazed too when i hold one for the first time since they're not exactly small either XD

  • he is good ....damn good ....

  • please, someone knows which raga hes playing???

  • I'm listening to sitar and setar music at the same time. My head is about to implode!

  • He is no Ravi Shankar!

  • It's almost impossible for one to not close his eyes and land on the ground of a village in the middle of the desert

  • She Sells Sanctuary by the cult would sound beautiful on a sitar

  • Nice hand! Your hands remind me of the way Nikhil-da-s hands used to look. Who is your teacher?

  • OMG Demyx!

  • what are the drums called? they've got that really recognizable sound, very indian.

  • The drums are called 'tabla' - and the very talented young tabla player is Nitin Mitta.

  • I think there tabla drums, not positive though.

  • @ShayCarlFan1000 tabla

  • my gosh... thats insane. :)

  • 270Gmoney wow...jealously really suits you and anyone who agreed with you.

  • 4:03

    Batman theme.

  • I don't think that sitar player is beautiful at all

  • @270Gmoney But he plays beautiful! :]

  • @xkyousukex i know!!! hes awesum

  • @270Gmoney why +44?

  • @vonshtoyven Because some people have a sense of humor

  • @270Gmoney lol hes beautiful on the inside.

  • @baradathlin so reverse him.

  • @baradathlin HAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • @270Gmoney I am sure you are blinded like many people in this world who calls fake make up artists beautiful such as lady gaga, beyoncee, miley cyrus other but in truth if you see clearly they are nothing but just disgrace to women of manner they have taught girls nowadays to dress up like wh-o-r-e and talk to elders with disrespect especially european girls(british) No he is not beautiful but he is pure.

  • @C0mmentar It was just a joke, chill out home slice, I was just trying to get more thumbs up

  • @270Gmoney I disagree. Very Beautiful, wise seeming human being...
