Still brings a tear of joy to my eye. A consumate broadcaster, with an enormous capacity for awareness of others - generous to a fault, and hilariously funny at his best. There will be no copy or counterfeit .. so let's celebrate the man.
A shining star, who was taken from us far too soon, I remember driving to work one cold and grey December morning listening to the great man on Radio 2. In his inimitable refined scouse accent he mentioned that Christmas was imminent and came out with a great one liner with the right sort of emphasis, "Isn't the price of turkey terrible". An absolute classic that brightened up a dull morning and got me through the day chuckling. RIP mate
I really thought this guy was great. He started the "banter"handover technique so beloved of Radio DJs. He was 10 times better than Ken Bruce with Wogan in repartee. Brilliant. A sad loss to us all. His Autobiography is well worth a read. Funny, poignant, witty, sad and happy but mostly entertaining. Reading it , is like listening to him, you can almost hear his voice telling you how it was. A great and easy read. Ray we miss you.
@llewtlef Of course i remember Gatport Airwick, do you remember "nasty pieces of work lurking about in Deptford shop doorways" Ray Moore was one of the best early morning DJs.
Terry Wogan leaving made me think about Ray Moore - he made waking up almost painless!! There are few people who can make anyone laugh at that time in the morning - I still miss him..
Even after all these years I still miss Ray's voice. New Year's Eve has never been the same since he went, and his morning shows were just priceless gems. I used to live for his traffic reports! For my money there were two greats on Radio in those days - Ray and John Dunn - both sadly missed.
please has anyone got rays other song ;the bog-eyed jog;ive only heard it once on the radio a few weeks ago but cant get it anywere, its really really good, its not just funny but its such a catchy song.i was feeling off colour at the time but it really cheered me up,its brilliant.
He looks a lot older than 47 in this video.

I have uploaded The Bog Eyed Jog. Dont have an original video, just the song on a CD, but have made a background for the song using 2 photos of Ray.
