The biggest difference between bruce and other artists is you can tell he loves what he does and would still be in a band even if he didnt make millions of dollars. Alot of artists just do it since the money is good and you can definately tell the difference between the 2 types.
Here is an example of an artist who took his heart and pinned it to his sleeve, for all to see, unlike so many of those other "artists" who just wrapped themselves in an American flag to "get on board" and make a buck! Bruce Springsteen, a true American Patriot!
911 was a terrible day. We need an independent investigation into 911. There were many reporters saying there were explosions in and around the buildings. Also You Tube WTC 7 Collapse and it looks like a controlled demolition!
If there is a better album than The Rising in the 00's I would love to hear it! I'm a journalist and I got my job at a paper because the editor read my review of The Rising!
billy billy.........no there is not ...so much heart...and in the conext of what he was singing about POWERFUL....the album moved me like no other............
Yeah, it's outstanding. For me the best song is Into The Fire, the message that it conveys is so moving in that there is nothing to fear in death, that it is a start of a new beginning. I could listen to it all day and the Live In Barcelona DVD is magnifcent, The Rising Tour.
I was at a very low point in my life...in drug rehab...basically feeling sorry for myself...and I used to put head phones on and ride my bike...and this album made me realize that if those people in New York could pick themselves up after that tragedy...then so could I!!...That we as humans are at are best when things are at there worse......
Very well said! It's testament to Bruce that his music was able to pull you out of such a dark point in your life. For me there is no other artist who could do that.
@billybillyboab I'm going to sound horrible for someone who is a huge Springsteen fan but there were a lot of better albums in the 00's. This is one of the best rock albums in the 00's but I would put Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, Sticks and Stones, and The Young and the Hopeless above it. It is his best album after Born in the USA though.
takes courage to write this stuff. hats off to bruce. but its about human courage, against the odds, type we can all share, in any circumstance. peace
One of Bruce's greatest songs . . . a powerful tribute to courage, hope and spirituality . . . only the Boss could write a song that could lift people's spirits amid the horror of 9/11.
I don't want to comment on 9/11 or on so many people who lost love ones on that day, but to me this is an inspirational song and with the album that's what he wanted to do. Sx

Springsteen is a near-illiterate, and this is a pitiful song, dreck, garbage. La la la la la.
There were no good rock songs that came out of 9/11. Sad,but true. The only decent songs that came out of that horrible event were from country artists: Alan Jackson's "Where Were You?" and Darryl Worley's "Have You Forgotten". I've never heard anything beyond those two. 9/1 was not a "la la la la la la la" event. Trust me, I was there.
do all the springsteen fans a favor, if u think he's illiterate, go back and look at the lyrics to his older songs. And if u LISTEN and THINK ABOUT the words, which might be hard to do, in ur case, this song is all about 9/11.
I think he should sell this to Verizon. It could be "Call me up on Verizon. Call me up, Commmunicate without wires." I heard Bruce into commercializing his music. At least die-hards wont attack me, just the average fans. hehehehe
Terrific. Remarkable sound. Almosts sound mixed through a board. Bruce gets the best stadium sound of all time: like sitting in your living room. Audio Analysts, Colo. Springs, and John Cooper. Awesome, brilliant sound engineering.
Just watch Clarence at 1:19 !!

I've just played this to my 6 year old son who went to this concert at minus 3 months. He swears he remembers it. He was certainly kicking enough.

@billybillyboab I'd love to read that review sometime. "The Rising" is definitely the best album of the '00s and, according to my taste, ever.

"The Rising" was written about a firefighter on 9/11. "My City of Ruin" however was written about Asbury Park.

Well, I worked in the WTC, know a lot of families who were terribly affected. A lot of them dislike this song.
3000 people burned to death, and this imbecile sings la la la la la la la.
